Hello, sweet soul! I’m so excited to announce our 2026 Summer Knit and Read Along! We’ll join together on Ravelry to crochet the Palimpsest pattern, which is a richly cabled, snuggly shawl, and also read Erin Morgenstern’s The Starless Sea together. Plus, there will be prizes at the end of our event, so I hope you’ll keep reading to learn how you can sign up and join in on all the fun!

Our featured pattern for the Summer Knit and Read Along is Palimpsest, which was designed by Carolyn Currier. When asked about this design, Carolyn said, “Palimpsest is a richly textured wrap inspired by stories layered one upon another, where nothing is ever truly erased. Panels of moss stitch and gently shifting cables unfold like pages in an ancient manuscript, revealing subtle structural changes across the fabric. Beginning in deep, contemplative purple, the colors gradually rise through embered reds and honeyed golds before softening into tranquil blues and teals, like emerging from shadow into open light. The dense, cozy fabric creates warmth and grounding, giving weight to the evolving design. Cables cross and shift at deliberate intervals, marking moments of transition within the larger whole. Both meditative and architectural, Palimpsest invites you to knit your own layered narrative into every stitch. Wrap yourself in it, and carry the sense of depth, memory, and quiet discovery wherever you go.

This is an Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate level pattern and is for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills include knit, purl, and moving stitches to a cable needle. The pattern includes written and charted instructions and comes with a video tutorial.

Palimpsest is knit with our Starless Sea Collection, which was inspired by Erin Morgenstern’s enchanting tale of hidden worlds, timeless stories, and the mysterious threads that connect past, present, and possibility. The yarn colors in this collection are like opening a secret door and stepping into another story.

The Palimpsest shawl is knit with our shimmering Luster Worsted yarn, which is a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell, a plant fiber that provides the glow of silk without the price. Super soft and smooth with a shine that is out-of-this-world stunning! Luster Worsted has 200 yds/183 m per skein.

The sample shown here was knitted with one The Starless Sea Hues Luster Worsted Kit and used approximately 1,305 yds / 1,193 m total (Colors A – I: 145 yds / 132.5 m each). This nine-skein kit gathers the entire palette of the Starless Sea Collection into one enchanting set, where honeyed warmth, shadowy blues, mossy greens, and storybook neutrals weave together like chapters in a secret tale waiting to unfold in your stitches. The colors were used in the following order: A) Labyrinth, B) Drowned City, C) Dripping Honey, D) The Owl King, E) Mirabel’s Constellations, F) Fate and Time, G) Painted Doors, H) Harbor of Stories, and I) The Infinite Library.

We made a video in which I demonstrate the special stitches featured in this pattern and share more about our The Starless Sea Knit and Read Along.
