Hello, my beautiful one! This week I want to share with you a beautiful knitted shawl pattern called Fall Gloaming. This beautiful shawl was designed by Monica Wesley, and it was inspired by the shifting of seasons from fall to winter.
Fall Gloaming, evokes the twilight, the fading light in a misty woods, and the close of autumn as the transition to winter begins. Wet leaves carpet the ground underneath, as the few remaining leaves that have yet to fall chatter and rustle above. There among the dried bushes and briars is a hint of cranberry red, as the season’s few remaining berries cling to their branches.
Fall Gloaming is an asymmetrical triangle shawl that features a repetitive sequence of Knotted Openwork and Stockinette Stitch that alternates with Garter Stitch Ridges. The shawl is knitted flat, and the asymmetrical shape is achieved by decreasing one stitch at the start of all right-side rows and then also increasing two stitches at the end of the same row. The pattern sequence is knitted five times with each color substituted with another in every subsequent iteration.
We have filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how to get started making this pattern. Take a look:
This Intermediate level pattern contains both written and charted instructions.

Love this going to make one!
I made this Fall Loaning shawl by using only the surprise skeins I order! I love having a WONDERFUL surprise show up with my order. And Expression Fiber Arts never disappoints! pinks, multi color that had all colors with brown ,blue, pink stunning, it was truly 1 of a kind! So beautiful and soft ,snuggly! The pattern was so well written even for someone with a handful of projects. I plan to make it again! I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!
I ordered this pattern from you awhile back. I am having trouble starting it . Has the pattern been edited since I ordered the pattern from you. I start with 8 stitches as directed, but following the directions does not give me the correct count. ALso the increases on the rows has me confused. Is it me or the pattern? Is there a correction or should I started over AGAIN.
Hi, Sandra. I’m sorry you’re having a bit of trouble with the Fall Gloaming pattern. The pattern has been thoroughly tested, edited, and is correct as written. Once you’ve cast on the first 8 stitches, you’ll add one stitch in Row 1 of the Setup section: the k2tog decreases by one stitch, but the kfbf adds 2 stitches, so you in total you have added one stitch. Make sure you’re making a kfbf (knit front back front), not a Kfb (knit front back), or your stitch count will be off. Row 3 will add another stitch, and you will have 10 stitches at the end of the Setup Rows. You may wish to watch our video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXb9tijhFik where we demonstrate how to knit the first few rows.
With C1, CO 8 sts.
First Iteration
Setup Rows Section:
Row 1 (RS): With C1, k1, k2tog, k to last 2

Row 2 (WS): With C1, p to end of row.
Row 3: With C1, repeat Row 1 in the
Setup Rows Section. (10 sts)
