Hello, sweet soul! Today, I have a gorgeous knitted shawl pattern that features beautiful Bramble Stitch and stunning cables. If you enjoy fun, soothing projects with delightful textures, you’re going to love this design! Keep reading to learn all about it!

Sister was designed by Anne Robinson. When asked about her pattern, she said, “Sister is a rectangular, cabled piece that can be worn as either a shawl or scarf. It is accented by a beautifully textured bramble stitch, and the main body features giant cables bookending a central XO cable. Designer Anne Robinson was inspired by one of her favorite vocalists Karen Carpenter. Karen’s rich, silky voice is interpreted in the deep chestnut color of EFA’s elegant Beacon DK yarn base. Anne said, ‘Karen’s voice brings with it a sense of nostalgia to me, and that is reflected in the cozy stitch patterns and the way the finished piece wraps around the body.’ This is the perfect knit for anyone who enjoys texture and cables.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include cables, special stitches, and reading charts. The pattern includes written and charted instructions. You will need to be able to read charts to knit this pattern.

Sister is knitted with our beautiful Beacon DK yarn, which is a dreamy delight that’s spun from 25% Baby Camel, 25% Mulberry Silk, and 50% Lyocell. The result is a luminous yarn with irresistible shimmer and buttery softness you’ll fall in love with from the very first stitch. Each skein features a smooth, 8-ply construction, which creates strength, amazing stitch definition, and flowing drape that feels divine. Beacon DK is a perfect choice for silky soft garments or any project where you want the fabric to move with grace.

Our sample was made with four skeins of Mulled Apple Cider Beacon DK (250 yds/228 m per skein) and used approximately 925 yds / 846 m total.
