Hello, my beautiful friend! I hope you’re having an amazing day! Today, I have two versions of an adorable, knitted shawlette to share with you. With a fun fringed edge and gorgeous textures, this quick-to-stitch project is a delight! Keep reading for all the lovely details!
Broady was designed by Anne Jones. When asked about her debut pattern for Expression Fiber Arts, she said, “Broady is a triangular shawlette or neckerchief. It is knitted from the top down starting with a garter stitch tab. Broady was named after a dear family friend who recently passed. She was vibrant, vivacious, hilarious, and just a rare gem.”
“I love cables and have recently completely ditched my stitch dictionaries and started enjoying creating my own cables. I sketch and draw incessantly. Broady is a compilation of texture and geometry in a small, manageable project.”
This is an Intermediate level pattern that is perfect for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include working a top down triangular shawl pattern, reading a cable chart, and working cables with or without a cable needle. The pattern includes written and charter instructions, and you will need to be able to read charts to knit this pattern.
We made two versions of Broady, and the first version was knit with our dreamy Dewy DK yarn, which is softly sumptuous with just the right drape, structure, and a whisper of sheen that makes every stitch glow. Dewy DK blends 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon, and 10% Silk into 250 yds/228 m of pure bliss! It’s perfect for items you want to cherish for years or share with a loved one as a heartfelt gift.
This sample was knit with two skeins of Panacea Dewy DK and used 454 yds/415 m total, including fringe.
The second version was made with our scrumptious Alpaca Silk DK yarn. It’s squishy, cuddly, cushy, and huggably soft with the most beautiful shimmer from the silk. This heavenly 4-ply blend of 50% Baby Alpaca and 50% Mulberry Silk is snuggly and warm, long-wearing, wonderfully drapey, and ultra-soft against the skin, making it ideal for next-to-skin projects. With 230 yds/210 m per skein, this versatile DK-weight yarn works beautifully for garments, accessories, shawls, wraps, and any project where you want softness, warmth, and a little everyday luxury in every stitch.
This version was knit with two skeins of Insurgent Alpaca Silk DK and used 427 yds/390 m total, including fringe.
