Knit This Striped Cardigan Today – Smoulder

Hello, beautiful soul! This week, I have a colorful, striped knitted cardigan pattern that I think will be a lovely addition to your wardrobe. I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about this delightful sweater pattern!

Smoulder was designed by Kayla Baldwin. When asked about her design, Kayla said, “Simple, seamless, and fun to knit, this top-down cardigan is perfect for newer knitters and experienced makers alike. Smoulder looks beautiful knitted in one color or many and was designed to let special yarns shine, like Dragon Lore with its rich, firelit tones that shift and gleam.”

“You’ll work the body in one piece, and then pick up stitches for the collar at the end — no seaming required. Optional buttonholes give you even more ways to personalize. Pick two, three, or even six of your favorite colors, cast on, and enjoy a cozy, easy-to-knit cardigan that’s all your own.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills include reading a pattern, garment construction and shaping, working increases and decreases, knitting colorwork stripes both flat and in the round, and picking up stitches for the sleeves and neckband. This pattern includes written instructions and a schematic and comes with a video tutorial.

Smoulder was knit with our luxurious Wishglow Sport yarn, which is a heavenly, delectable blend of 50% Superwash Fine Merino Wool (19.5 micron) and 50% Mulberry Silk that’s unbelievably soft with a dreamy, shimmering glow. Light and airy, this yarn is perfect for flowing shawls, super soft garments, silky accessories, and more! This two-ply yarn has 364 yds/334 m per 100-gram skein. A joy to work with and wear! Supple and shining with beautiful stitch definition!

The pattern is offered in sizes XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL)(4XL, 5XL), which correspond to bust sizes of 32 (36, 40, 46) (50, 55, 60) (65, 70)’’ / 81 (91, 102, 117) (127, 140, 152) (165, 178) cm. This sweater is designed to be worn with 2” (5 cm) of positive ease. The sample shown here used five colors and is shown in size Small on a 34” bust with 2” positive ease, a length of 16” from underarm, and sleeves that measure 17” from underarm.

You’ll need 3 – 8 skeins of Wishglow Sport yarn, depending on the size you select and the number of stripes you include. See the yardage breakdown on page 8 of the pattern for more details. If you wish to make the body or sleeves longer, you will need additional yarn.
