Hello, my lovely friend! This week, I have a colorful, striped shawl that is absolutely perfect for keeping you warm on cool evenings or adding a touch of flair to your wardrobe. I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about today’s new knit pattern.
Quintalessence was designed by Cari Jehlik. When asked about this pattern, Cari said, “Quintalessence is a journey in color—the quintessential exploration of mixing color and stitch patterns to create a unique work of warmth and art. With three distinct sections and the ability to use as many colors as you wish, the customization possibilities are completely limitless.”
“Explore mixing and matching in ways you had never dared to explore before. Use five colors in sets of two with a separation color or six to divide your separating stripes between two colors. Or stash dive, and use as many colors as you have laying around just waiting to be knit up into something glorious.”
This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include colorwork, increase and decrease stitches, working in pattern, and blocking. This pattern includes written instructions only, as well as a schematic, and comes with a video tutorial.
Quintalessence is knitted with our luscious Buttery Sport yarn, which is squishy, bouncy, and buttery! What’s not to love about this super soft and cuddly sport-weight yarn that’s also machine washable? Made from 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool, this two-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches and has 300 yds/274 m per skein. No itchiness or scratchiness here! Use this fun, boingy yarn to make soft, supple projects that work up quickly.
The sample shown here was made with our Tulip Hues Buttery Sport Kit [300 yds/274 m per skein (1,800 yds/1,644 m per six-skein kit)] and used approximately 1,340 yds/1,225 m total: Color A: 240 yds/219 m, Color B: 240 yds/219 m, Color C: 180 yds/165 m, Color D: 220 yds/201 m, Color E: 220 yds/201 m, and Color F: 240 yds/219 m.
We made a video tutorial demonstrating how to work the stitches, while making a mini version of this shawl. Take a look!
