Hello, my dazzling diamond! This week we’re going to learn how to knit this beautiful poncho pattern called Plateaus. This unique knitted poncho design was created by Candy Key, and I just love it!

Candy says, “A plateau means an area of relatively level high ground. Plateaus is the word that reminds me of the special middle section of this wrap. Each time the yarn flows up and down over several rows…it makes a plateau.”

I love the thought of being “relatively level” these busy days. Knitting this wrap will “level” you out after a hectic day or week.

The stitches and colors change in the solid sections just enough to keep the process interesting. The section with the plateaus will add the challenge and interest to continuously monitor your pattern so that those plateaus rise and flatten out in a smooth moving pattern.

The sample shown used 2 skeins of Sterling Silver and 2 skeins of New York at Night on our CashSilk Sock yarn. However, you can make this shawl with any 4 skeins of our fingering weight yarn.
The sample used approximately 1,075 yds/983 meters total.

We have filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how to get started on this pattern. Take a look:

This Intermediate level pattern contains written instructions and relies on a chart for the pattern stitch.

I just love the reversible design!

We hope you enjoy it! When I first tried this on, I fell in love. It’s soft and draping and so totally wearable. Feel free to adjust the size of this knit poncho too if you like! It’s just a seamed-up rectangle, so is super easy to adjust.

Have a most gorgeous day and happy knitting, beautiful friend!
