Mandevilla was designed by Courtney Cox. When asked about her pattern, Courtney said, “Mandevilla is a stunning, lace cowl of generous proportions. This oversized beauty first offers a simple, easy to memorize, relaxing knitting experience. Savor each row, as the undulating waves of Alpaca Silk Lace yarn work up into a delightfully soft finish that feels like a hug. With instructions for pattern adjustment according to preferred size, this cowl creates a show-stopping piece sure to elevate any outfit in appearance and in comfort.”
This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills include basic lace, color changes, and blocking. The pattern includes written instructions only and comes with a video tutorial.
Mandevilla is knitted with our gorgeous Alpaca Silk Lace yarn, which is a heavenly blend of 50% baby alpaca and 50% mulberry silk that’s warm and soft with a gorgeous drape and a shimmery glow. When you combine alpaca with silk, you get a yarn that is pure luxury and a joy to work with. Although this yarn is a lace-weight yarn, it’s more like a light fingering, which makes it easy to knit and crochet with. With a whopping 604 yds/552 m per skein, just a few skeins are enough for most projects.
We used our Delicate Dance Hues Alpaca Silk Lace Kit to knit the sample shown, which used approximately 1,812 yds/1,656 m total. The colors were worked from light to dark, and almost all the yarn in each skein was used.
We made a video tutorial showing how to knit this pattern. Take a look!

Talk to ya soon.
