Hello, beautiful soul! I’m tickled to bits to announce our 2026 Spring Knit and Read Along! We’ll join together on Ravelry to knit the Message pattern, which is a gorgeous, floral lap blanket, and also read Vanessa Diffenbaugh’s The Language of Flowers together. Plus, there will be prizes at the end of our event, so I hope you’ll keep reading to learn how you can sign up and join in on all the fun!

Our featured pattern for the Spring Knit and Read Along is Message, which was designed by Carolyn Currier. When asked about her debut pattern, Carolyn said, “In the Victorian language of flowers, daffodils were chosen to send a message of new beginnings — a gentle promise that light returns and that growth often starts quietly. Rooted in that tradition and with each hexagon framing a simple daffodil bloom, Message echoes the way hope often unfolds in real life: quietly, gradually, and in its own good time.”

“Just as flowers once carried messages between people, our stitches do the same today. Every project we knit — whether kept close or given with love — speaks through the time and care we place in it. My hope is that Message becomes your soft note to the world that renewal can start anywhere, even here, even now, even with a single stitch.”

This is an Intermediate level design and is for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include working in the round on double-pointed needles and circular needles. This pattern uses knit, purl, yarn over, Inc2, k2tog, ssk, and sk2p stitches. This pattern includes written and charted instructions.

Message is knitted with our new Secret Language of Flowers Collection, which was inspired by the beautiful Victorian tradition of using flowers to send hidden messages. Each color in this series is rooted in the meaning of a different bloom — love, hope, remembrance, courage, joy, tenderness, and so much more. It’s a story told in petals and pigment, where every skein whispers something heartfelt and true.

The Message blanket is made with our Pearlescent Worsted Mini and Pearlescent Worsted yarn. Our delightfully soft, single-ply Pearlescent Worsted yarn base is shimmery, heavenly, and luscious and is a 50:50 blend of Superwash Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk. Smooth with a gorgeous gleam, it’s a dreamy yarn that’s ideal for next-to-skin accessories like cowls, shawls, scarves, hats, and more! Unbelievably soft with a lovely drape and a shine that just won’t quit!

The sample shown here was knitted with one Secret Language of Flowers Pearlescent Worsted Mini Kit and one full-size skein of Whipped Cream Pearlescent Worsted. The sample used approximately 920 yds/841 m total (85 yds/78 m EACH of Colors A–I and 155 yds/142 m of Color J). The colors were used in the following order: A) Crimson Camellia, B) Geranium Glow, C) Carnation Charm, D) English Rose, E) Lilac Awakening, F) Flaxen Sky, G) Honeysuckle Haze, H) Ivy Embrace, I) Midnight Heliotrope, and J) Whipped Cream.

We made a video in which I show how to work Rounds 1 – 7 of the full hexagon motif and share more about our 2026 Secret Language of Flowers Knit and Read Along.
