I’d call it “Indian Summer” and it would consist of all those pretty different autum shades like: oranges, reds, yellows, browns, greens
Let’s call it Orangy Hues. And include greens, copper, ( fir the land) & pink, blue (fir the sky).
I would call it night breeze and the color would be a Smokey blue/gray
My favorite season is year round because crocheting brings me inner peace. Whatever I may crocheting it’s not for me but for someone else. Though this year I did decide to give myself some grace and make something for me. It’s always brought me inner peace from the time I learned as a child. Going to make a learning blanket for my grandson.
I would call it corn-ucopia and use the different colors of dry native American corn varieties. Deep yellow, muted blue, maroons, and creamy white.
I love your cornucopia idea! I’d add some deep purple and straw yellow 🙂
I like the idea of the colors of Indian corn
If September were a colorway I’d call it Autumn Harvest and use the colors of deep eggplant, mossy green, a golden bronze setting sun a crisp jewelled blue of the sky and a soft muted beige of prairie grasses!
I would call it ” late summer vibes”- I really love September as it is no länger so Hot as in summer and already showing some autumn vibrs
I’m with you, Steph! But I think I’d go with bright, jewel tone/autumnal colors, and call it “Autumn on the Horizon”
I would call it longing for fall and it would be beautiful deep oranges, yellow, gold, burgundy. With a bit of really deep burnt orange and creamy ivory color.
Steph, you rock! I thought of all those lovely fall leaf colors but couldn’t think of a name!! Love your name for this!!
I would use the same colors, Steph!!
I think I would call mine OH My Gourd, just to be different and silly.
September reminds of different shades of brown
September colorway would be called Transition and would consist of a verigated swirl of burgundy tones, gold tones, with faded leafy dark green.
I think I’d name it Equinox to represent the time when the sun crosses the celestial equator in the fall season it would of course be all the magnificent burgundy, orange, yellows. Representing the falling leaves..
Fall forest – greens yellows browns and oranges!
Hmmm🤔 What color would September be? In September I usually start looking at apples for homemade apple pies. My Mom always loved them and it gave me joy to bake them for her. She like me was a fan of the traditional double crust pie. My Brother is fond of a streusel topping. So going into this season I think of the colors of apples, cinnamon, and beautiful brown crusts (with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side). So a blend of Golden Delicious Apple, Granny Smith green, McIntosh red, warm cinnamon brown, golden brown pie crust, and a soft creamy vanilla. I would call it “Homemade Apple Pie.”
I would call, it Turning Point. It would include bronze, gold, red and green.
I would call it Autumn breeze and it would be a rich sky blue, with white and corn husk gold.
I would call September the month of calm and change. Color of greens, brilliant yellow, orange, rust, browns, and red all under a canopy of beautiful blue skies.
If September was a color way, I would name it fallen leaves, and I would have a light coffee color, a dark fiery orange, a dark red, and a yellow ochre color. Maybe throw in a gray blue and a dark green
If September was a color I would call it Balance. September is an incredibly busy time of year for me. It is my busiest month at work (I work in public accounting, so it is extension season) and it is also back to school for my kids and the start of birthday season in my house. So between working extra hours and helping my kids acclimate, I’m also planning birthday parties, so balance is critical! I think I would make it a speckled color with the base being warm earth tones (greens, yellows, and mauves), speckled with brighter versions of each color.
Dark yellows, warm oranges and browns but also deep greens – a lot of vibrant colours. I’d call it Whispers of Autumn 🍁 since it’s still nice and summery warm but you notice slight changes with the incoming autumn.
Back to school
Crayon and yellow pencil colors!
This is what I was thinking as well.
I would call it Fall Splendor, and and I would use all of the Beautiful warm and bright colors of Fall and the beautiful colors of the warm and sweet colors of Winter. I love the Fall and Winter Season. Not o ly being born in the Summer, but it reminds me of the Wonderful Memories that I had with my Parents and Grandparents when they were alive. It is hard at times to Crochet a project and start to cry and put it down for awhile, you see my Late Mother taught me how to Crochet. And, I learned how to read and follow Crochet patterns from my Late Mother and Grandmother.
Autumn is my favorite season. I’d name a colorway Jeweled Warmth, and I’d include dark greens, golds, deep reds, and warm browns. This giveaway is gorgeous!
Let’s see, fall colors would have to be the colors of all the leaves as they change. A mix of reds, orange, and yellow with some brown, and I would call it Campfire
I love the “ber” months, and September is my favorite!!! Colors I’d choose would be spiced orange, bright yellow, mocha, deep muted red and the name enchanted autumn bouquet.
September I think could be something like “Changing Leaves”. Mossy green with splotches of pumpkin-orange, cinnamon-brown, and golden-yellow 🙂
Summer’s End would be the colorway and the colors would be bright yellow, gold yellow, light orange, sky blue and light gray.
The closer to cold weather the better! September is the beginning of that transition. It’s the time of year where the leaves begin to change and the trees will soon be ablaze with beautifully vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds. The name would be Cozy Transition.
I’m going against the typical fall colors here, but my back -to-school homage would be a rainbow blend of primary colors called New Box of Crayons.😊
Oh man I really hope I win this months yarn giveaway. I looooooove all those colors!
And as for colors of September, every year I think of the lyric from Fiona Apple’s Pale September. “Pale September I wore the time like a dress that year. The autumn leaves swung soft around me like cotton on my skin” to me it looks like faded denim blue and soft golds of old summer
September Morn would be a speckled yarn with greens, golds, and bits of sky blue on a natural base — I’m thinking about looking at the sky early in the day through the branches of a tree as the leaves are starting to change.
Oh gosh, if September were a colorway I would have to pick tomato red, purples, yellows and oranges. Coming out not the best weather! Take care, Chandi and Tim! 🌻
The ocean waters are surprisingly warm in September as summers get longer. The name of the yarn would be “warmest sea” and it would be a warm blue jade color with gold and orange reflections.
Oh my how the year as flown by! Now Septemberis in my mind the end of summer….. some may argue that…. but a colourway for this the end of summer could be all the colours of the late summer blooms. Rudbeckia/coneflower with their deep purple centres going to rusty reds then to golden yellow petals. Ours are looking beautiful in the garden. Then the late bloom roses of varing colourz are stunning. The name of the colourway could be END OF DAYS!
All the best Chandi, Tim and the EFA team.
Fall Preview, it would be green with speckles of orange, yellow, and red to showcase the start of the changing of deciduous leaves.
September always makes me think of sunflowers so I think I would choose dark yellows, brown, and greens.
My September colourway would be called Blown Leaves and would feature spiced pumpkin, burnt umber, metallic rust smudges and cranberry hues with late afternoon sunshine and a smattering of shady green foliage speckles.
If September were turned into a yarn colorway, I would call it “Apple Picking”, and it would include the exact colors of the multicolor yarn in this month’s giveaway! 😊
If September were a color way, I would call it Harvest Moon. It would include the colors of harvest: reds, oranges, greens, browns, purples, yellows with a thread of golden moon glow. I’m thinking it might have to be a kit rather than a single color way.
For me, September is the start of spring in Sydney, spring is full of lovely light pastel colours – I’d call it Jacaranda after the prominent violet flowers on the early flowing tree.
September’s colour would be Rustling leaves, a gentle tonal mixing dry green and various yellows and oranges.
I would call it Summers End and it would include the blue of the ocean when the sun is just starting to go down. Then it would have the pink, purple, orange and yellow that streak across the sky.
I’d try to catch the warm colors of autumn, the bright red, yellow and orange of the leaves, the warm green of the bark that shows more when the leaves start to fall. My favourite season (LOVE).
I’d call it crispy mornings, because that’s what I love most. The nights are allready cold, but the daytime still is sunny and warm. You can allready smell the fall and the sun isn’t as bright but the days are still nice and warm. Love it!
I’d go with autumnal jewel tones!
September as a colourway would be autumnal for me; burgundy, rusty red, burnt orange, ochre yellow, and a dark browny-green for the deciduous plants.
Or (because I live in the southern hemisphere), it would be spring-like; fresh yellowy greens, pale lilac, powder blue, soft pink, and gentle peach.
I would mix the red shade of sugar maples that have turned color with long runs of the gold of golden maples and call the result September Jewels.
If September were a colourway it would be a soft mellow butterscotch, sage green and a mucky sky blue
For September, I would choose a misty grey base shot with autumnal reds, golds and purples.
Golden leaves and cooler temps are September to me. It is the wonderful start of a new season–weather-wise and in our lives. It is the grand opening for my upcoming favorite holidays, so the colorway I envision would include rustic red, gold and orange with chocolate brown as a base.
If September were a color I’d call it Crisp Leaves and it’d be mostly a warm goldenrod with flecks of brown, grey, red, and maybe even some warm blues and greens.
Since I live in New Zealand it’s spring in September so I would call it ‘The Earth’s Awakening” the colours would include lemon yellow, peach, warm apricot, deep brown, mint green, and a rain coloured blue
Here in the southern hemisphere we are, after wild, windy, rainy days, spring has finally started showing up. The Cape Floral Kingdom, one of the world’s biomes, has vibrant, glowing hues typical of the African continent. Wonderful shades of luminous buttery yellow, soft blues, vibrant pinks, purples and reds and even orange – the Namaqualand is a sea of colour: carpets of low-growing brilliantly coloured, exquisitely detailed flowers bloom where usually the earth is dry and bare. So the colour palette would be an exhilarating and contrasting mix, where nature doesn’t clash but brings spring in with triumph.
Here in Australia, September marks the start of spring so I would call it “Too Much of a Good Spring!” and the colorway would be yellow for daffodils, purple for crocuses, light pink for peonies, a little bit of white for magnolias and a touch of green for the beautiful foliage… (on second thought, maybe this should be called hayfever lol)
Wow, stunning colors as always! How about September Haze? Those lovely hazy, sunny mornings with colors of light blue, golds and yellows to to reflect the early morning dew and weakening sun.
September is my birth month so I would choose a deep ocean blue (my favourite) and call it Sapphire of the Ocean
Autumn Dawn. Bronze, rust red, antique gold, and flicks of icy white like frost on fallen maple leaves.
It’s spring here in South Africa, so I’d call it Coming Alive. It will be all joy, sunshine and flowers: Yellow, pink, green.
I also would call it “Indian Summer”, and the color palette would be one with the richest colorways – gold, yellow, red, orange, maybe a skein of green in the mix, or a light brown, all in the deepest possible saturation you can accomplish with dyeing. As yarn base I definitely would choose something that (a) fits the saturation, but also has some warmth to it, so maybe some merino wool, probably mixed with some other fiber. I also could see some grey speckles in there, like you would have in a tweed yarn.
September as a colourway could be called “Anticipation” in preparation for the cold weather to come. To keep at least the thoughts arm, I would use golds, deep reds, and deep greens.
My September colorway would be called A-maiz-ing, and would include yellow, white, blue, purple, and red.
The closer to cold weather the better! September is the beginning of that transition. It’s the time of year where the leaves begin to change and the trees will soon be ablaze with beautifully vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds. I would call this Cozy Transition.
Seeing September is the start of spring in Australia (not my favourite season, give me autumn any day), probably would have off-white, pink, green, mauve/lilac, grey, with some blue and red.
Oh i would say that September should be a mix of those beautiful colors of indian summer with green, ocher, orange and yellow shades and gold. I’m not this much original but it’s what i expected from September to be. With love.
I would love to see a speckled colorway, on a deep gold base. The speckles would include mahogany, dark green, scarlet, and dark orange. It shall be named “leaf me be” as in I’m knitting/crocheting, leave me be.
Ooh September colorway would be named “Taking a Moment” I feel like the frenzy and heat of the summer is slowly starting to turn to calmer and cooler times. So taking a moment to enjoy the refreshing start if fall. And the colors would be muted greens that slowly fade into reds and orange
I would call it “Autumn’s Promise”, and the colours would be mainly vibrant red/orange/yellow with flecks of dark green, to showcase the changes in the trees. It would also have rich splashes of deep purple for the autumn fruits.
The colors would reflect the final reaping of the harvest from the orange of carrots to the rust of the leaves preparing the world to go to rest so it can resurface in the spring. Quiet calming resting colors.
September I think berries. Raspberry red, blueberry blue, cherry pink, blackberry purple … I’d name it Fairies Delight or Berry-tastic 😊
I’d call it harvest bounty. Sunflower yellow base, with hints of pumpkin orange, red the shade of blushing, but not fully ripened tomatoes, and dark green
Red yellow and green would be the colorway and I would call it The Apple Cart.
i would call it “23” because my birthday is the 23rd of september 🙂 and it would be violet purple, burnt orange, mustard yellow, and brown
September as a colorway?, I guess it would be called Shifting and be shifts through greens, yellows and browns. Earthy colors right before the turn fully into fall in my part of the country..
Every September, I’m struck by the changes in the colors of the world caused by shifting angles of the sun. I would call a September yarn Shift and include varying shades of blue and gold. From navy and dark mustard to sky blue and pale yellow. It would represent the transition between bright, sunny summer days and longer, deeper autumn nights. And now I want to get these colors and make a shawl!
“The End is the Beginning” the gorgeous sunset with yellows, pinks, reds, and oranges (red sky at night) with touches of blue and purple.
I’d call it Falling Jewels, and would include rich tones of red, yellow, orange, purple, and green
Happy fall Chandi and Tim!
I think I would call it “Cusp of Autumn.” It would have a base of greens with large swaths of golden yellow and smaller flashes of burnt orange, Japanese maple, bark brown,, and clear sky blue.
I would call it “the back to school September giveaway”. Long I know haha. Colours would be beautiful fall colours to represent the beginning of the changing trees and shorter days.
Purple and turquoise. I’d call it purpose!
I would call it “Hello Autumn” and my colors would be deep rust, bright orange, chocolate brown and gold!! Have a fabulous day!!
I’d use burgundy, deep plum, bluish teal and maybe an ochre, those colors evoke coziness for me and make me want to be wrapped in something warm. I’d call it Fallen leaves.
Autumn Splendor – the colors of fall as the leaves change. Golden yellow, burnt orange and red, all speckled with brown.
September Sunshine! Taking inspiration from the fields of sunflowers in bloom: shades of yellow, deep golden hues, browns, and the reds/maroons of these magnificent plants!
If i were September, I would feature the bright blue of the sky against some white bits, the clouds, and the Lucious greens, oranges, reds, and yellows of the leaves. As always thanks for your frequent upbeat messages. It helps remind me that things are good.
My colors would be red and orange and since I am not very creative I would call it something like fallen leaves.
I think I would call it turning. Turning of the seasons, the leaves, a road, a journey. Not yet arrived but also not where we started. There would be a cool brown and a forest green, with a pale blue and a warm rust color.
I live in southeast Texas soooo it would be called “Wet Heat” and be shades of murky blue-greens speckled with muddy browns amongst lengths of dusty tans speckled with greens and burnt reds. Or “Endless Summer” which would be blobs of red/orange shades amongst dusty green prairie grass colors.
My colorway would be called Whispering Brilliant Mist with colors of crimson, amber, honey and sky blue. Have a happy autumn 🍁
If September were transformed into a yarn colorway, it would include the burnished gold, orange, and yellow of turning leaves, the deep red of ripe apples, the intense blue of an autumn sky, and the light green of a juicy pear. I would simply call it September!
Just absolutely beautiful pallets. I love all the fall colors. My favorite season of the year. Plus September is my birth month.🥰
I would call it September School Day Blues.
I would call September an autumn rain. As I was driving around you could see the leaves start to turn colors as it prepared to fall through the sky. Colors would include the bright orange, yellow, red, and brown that you see with those falling leaves.
My Autumn Beginnings colorway of crimson, gold, burnt orange, deep forest green, and a brilliant yellow would remind me of the beginning of school and changing of the beautiful autumn leaves.
I would call it Shenandoah September after the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. It would include deep reds, oranges, yellows and browns.
September for me would be the leaves starting to change and the temperature coming down. Greens into yellow, orange, red, and brown with a gray swirl.
Here in New Hampshire, we’re surrounded by trees that start turning color in September. Swamp maples first, with their intense red, then on to bright yellow aspens and tamaracks, red/orange sugar maples, then finally the odd, pinkish color of oak leaves. Always present are the white pines, providing a quiet, dark green background. It would be a trick to put these colors all together, but I can imagine lots of combinations. I’d call the full gamut “New England Autumn.”
I think I would call it Beginning Autumn Treasures. It would include green, gold, tan, reds and oranges. Autumn is my favorite season for the smells, and the beautiful colors.
pour septembre je verrais un fil couleur miel “douceur de miel” et le pull d’Andrea Monwry que je rêve de faire.
Merci pour ces belles couleurs.
When I think of September, I think of school starting and fall mums waiting to be planted. Colors would be purples, bronze, dark reds, golds, and maybe a tiny splattering of leafy green mixed in. You could call it “Mums the Word”. With warmest regards.
Love the colors, I would call it Beautiful Fall
If September were a colourway, I would call it Apple Days. The collection would contain the colors of apple varieties, green, gold, and red. Of course there would have to be some lovely cariegated yarns, like the skins of Gala or Pink Lady apples.
‘First Frost’ would be pale silvery blue with touches of goldenrod and purple aster.
Final harvest would be the name and I’d include the colors in my garden…various hues of green and purple, red and orange
Burnished Sun would be mostly a goldenrod color with some light tan and cream speckles.
Well I would answer this differently depending upon where I lived at the time. In Baltimore I would have said burgundy, rust and gold. But in Florida I would have to say soft muted greens, various blues of the skies and soft yellows.
I think I’d call it ‘the first shift’ and have it be greens with flecks or speckles of orange, yellow, and red – here the colors don’t turn in full force until October, but the first leaves get their color over the course of September!
September is transition – from heat of summer to cool of autumn. It’s filled with the rich greens, yellows and oranges of evergreens and deciduous leaves as they change and fall before the cold winter weather. Beautiful colors before the stark neutrals of the winter.
Colorway name: Autumn Canopy
It would capture the vibes of the changing leaves (green -> gold -> orange -> red)
I think if September were a colorway, I’d call it Beckoning Mabon. The shrub itself would be half light and half dark, representing Equinox: a golden yellow base with splashes of rich evergreen and crimson red, and a dark, shadowy blue base with splashes of rich brown
I love all the “ember” months, especially September This is my favorite time of year! If September were transformed into a yarn colorway, it would include the burnished gold, orange, and yellow of turning leaves, the deep red of ripe apples, the intense blue of an autumn sky, and the light green of a juicy pear. I would simply call it September!
*skein not shrub 🤪
A September colorway would be called warm & cozy and be filled with burgundy and yellows
September is fushia and orange and yellow! The bright and vibrant start to fall!
Tree Tunnels – a colorway of deep forest greens and bright vibrant greens, with golden dapples of light filtering through the canopy. Just like walking down a leafy September path. 🌿✨
If September were a colorway I would pick autumn colors like burnt orange, deep yellows, muted greens like olive green, deep saturated reds, and browns like cinnamon, with a hint of eggplant thrown in for the harvest to begin. Thank you for all your deliciously scrumptious yarn.
September is the month of goldenrod yellow, ripe tomato red, and maple leaf orange.
As a colorway, I think I would name September “Transitions”. In September, we move from the warmth of summer and sunshine with remembrances of youth, into the subtly changing days of autumn and maturity. It’s a time for thoughtfulness as we not only transition from summer into fall, but from carefree into solemnity. It’s my favorite time of year.
If September were a colorway I’d call it Dawn of Autumn, and it would be a light green like the trees about to turn, gold like the goldenrod that’s everywhere right now, and with a few bright almost turquoise pops of blue.
Last Rays of Summer with the hazy sunset colors of the smoky northwest. Blues, purples, into reds and hazy. We have probably one more weekend on the water before it gets too cold and I’m hanging onto summer.
I would call it “Emergence of Autumn” and it would have mostly rich reds, greens, browns, and oranges. Probably also some blue.
Hummm.. September for me is fall..tree leaves changing colors..yellows browns golds reds. Yarn falling from the trees..I mean leaves..lol
Oh…I don’t know about this one. Because here, once in a blue moon, we get a truly magical September day. It’s too hot for September in the day time and too cool for September at night(or as my grandmother would say, “Early in morning before day…”) It feels like Summer is saying a long, southern, goodbye with hugs; still draped in a sundress full of greens, yellows, magentas, rose colors, maybe with blue toenail polish peeking through a thicker sandal strap. Little bit of charcoal gray from the last grill of the season. Up strolls Fall smelling like nutmeg and cinnamon decked out in burgundy, purple, orange and brown with a slight silver lining for the cool breeze that says we might have winter some day, but not today. As they hug and swirl in passing, the colors blends and bounce and we can catch red and gold, sand and deep green glimpses as they say, “It is always good to see you.”, end the embrace, peck on the cheek and go their separate ways. This is one of my favorite times of the year. I’m a little relaxed, a little happy and just a touch sad too. Because these are the days that I wish would last forever, but they never do.
Sorry. Got carried away.
September brings Clear Blue Horizons, especially in northern climates. As a end of September kid, I love the early morning crisp blue sky with just trailing clouds. Sky blue deeper than sapphire with tone so deep you could dive into it.
Fall Harmony and fill it full of greens, reds, oranges and golden yellows. Love fall colors!
Sapphire, my late Dad’s birthstone, would be shades of deep lovely blues. He was all of below for which the Sapphire symbolizes. Although he was only 59 – the age I am now – he passed unexpectedly yet quickly, having lived life so joyfully and was so loyal to his family, especially Mom.
The sapphire, September’s birthstone, symbolizes wisdom, truth, loyalty, nobility, sincerity, and good fortune. Historically, it was believed to offer protection, heal eye diseases, and even influence spirits. The gem’s name derives from the Latin and Greek words for “blue stone” and is famously associated with royalty and lasting romantic commitment.
I would call it asters and goldenrod. The garden is full of blues, purples, white and yellows. I’d add a touch of green as well.
Finally Fall. Deep reds and burnt oranges
I would call it First Kiss, after the fall apple propagated at the University of Minnesota. It recalls the fresh crispness of fall.
The ocean waters are surprisingly warm in September as the summers get longer. My yarn color would be a warm jade blue with gold and orange reflections and the name would be “warmest sea”
For Sept I think I’d move away from the traditional “fall” colors of leaves & trees. I reflect instead on the change of the light. A sleepy sunrise through a lazy fog could be pale grey with touches of soft shades of blue peaking through.
Then the day ending with glorious sunsets that are deeper & more comforting than those that happen much later in the evening in summer. Deep rich indigo sky with reddish purples & golden embers settling in the west.
Looking out of my window today I see bright, bright clear blue skies, many different shades of green leaves dappled with morning sunlight. There are a few remaining bright red tomatoes hanging on the vines. I would say call it Early September morning.
Fall is my favorite season – harvest time, cool nights, and leaves starting to turn. In Minnesota, we’ve just concluded our state fair and visited the lake for the last time. Colors that are September include dark and light green, maroon, yellow-gold, and medium blue and could be called Harvest Time.
Fall’s-A-Coming would be the color name, and it would include Sunflower yellow, Pumpkin orange, with brown, green, and deep burgundy colors also.
If September were a colorway, I’d call it campfire and it would be a blend of deep, rich brown, warm orange, and some golden yellow. Yay for fall!
Harvest would have several greens, some gold, bits of brown, and apple red for the “pop”
I’d name September’s colorway ‘Beckon’. After a summer full of hot, humid days September calls to me with promises of crisp mornings and cool weather. Colors would be inspired by dewy, cloud-covered mornings where the sunrise fights to shine through the mist; tall, drying grasses that haven’t yet let go of all of their green; and subtly changing leaves that begin to remind us that change can be beautiful.
Love these colors! I think “Midnight Harvest” feels right 😊
I love the beginning of fall so much! The collection would include greens, browns, yellows and oranges plus an orangy pinks for those beautiful late summer sunsets you still get and a greens yellow like the coverings on chestnuts. I would name it first chill.
In my country, September is Spring time, so I would call it simply Spring, with colours of Spring green, lavender, pink and white.
How to describe the colorway of September? Here in the MIdwest you start to see more earthy shades-the evergreens develop an umber undertone, the deciduous trees begin the change process with an olive tinge before the reds, oranges and golds appear. Even the lake and river waters mute from the bright colors of summer as the aquatic plants mature. The flowers of late summer and autumn bring pops of color along with the ripening apples, the last of the tomatoes and fresh-picked pumpkins. All against a backdrop of the tans, golds and sienna shades of maturing wheat and grasses. I’d name it Autumnal Equinox. All these color changes create a still-point before the palette of winter appears.
I love this idea — September as a yarn colorway feels like the turn of a season captured in fiber.
I’d call it “Equinox” — because September sits right on that balance point between summer and fall.
The colors would be:
Golden wheat – like late summer fields ready for harvest.
Deep green – the last richness of summer leaves before they start to change.
Rusty copper – the first hints of autumn creeping in.
Dusky plum – for earlier sunsets and ripening fruit.
Soft gray-blue – a nod to cooler mornings and longer shadows.
Or…
“Indian Summer”
(that warm stretch before fall fully takes over)
Sunlit gold – still-bright afternoons.
Verdant green – summer gardens hanging on.
Sky blue – clear, hot-day skies.
Coral blush – the last burst of summer flowers.
Soft sand – warm, dry earth.
This one would feel uplifting, warm, and slightly nostalgic, like summer’s last sigh.
Also…
“Harvest Moon”
(the deeper, cooler tones as fall sets in)
Burnished copper – turning leaves.
Pumpkin orange – harvest season arriving.
Plum wine – ripe fruit and dusky evenings.
Charcoal gray – longer nights and chilly mornings.
Creamy oat – coziness, blankets, and the first sweaters.
This one would lean rich, moody, and cozy — more autumnal, but still holding onto September’s transitional balance.
I would think falling leaves. red, yellow, orange. Those colors would be September to me
Name? It would have to be something honoring my mother, Bevery Jane, whose birthday was in Sept. This time of year I can’t help dwelling on how young she died, (6 days short of 52) when I was only 26 (1976). She taught me to knit at the age of 10, starting me down the road to at least dabble in most of the textile arts. Colors? Fall of course. The woods in her home state of MI will be going to golds and rusts soon. She did so love fall.
Fireglow Foliage– muted shades of purple, maroon gray, bronze, golden brown with a pop of orange/yellow
If September was a colorway I would call it Fade to Autumn. It would include orange-red hues, golden colors, moss greens, light blues and cream.
Gorgeous colors!!
September colors for me are apple reds, greens, and golds!
September is bringing the first golden leaves on the aspens here and the end of the fireweed, so a September colorway would have rusty reds speckled with bright magenta, leaf green with splotches of gold, a cloudless sky blue, and maybe purple with blues and silver running through it for the first snowfall on the mountains 🙂
September Surprise would be my name for a yarn with dark reds, golds, coppers and dark green.
With the cooler weather finally arriving, I’d call it fire pit! Colors I would choose would be seasoned firewood, flames, and a bit of black. I love these cooler evenings!
The colors I would choose for a September yarn are browns, rich greens, and golden yellows. Little flecks of red would add beautifully for a Changing Days yarn.
Summer’s twilight – golds, oranges & light browns
Yum Yum delicious, I know just the person to share this gorgeous stash with 3> 🙂
If September were a colorway I’d call it Change of Season. It would have deep greens and lighter greens mixed together and specks of orange and yellows.
Gateway to fall with a blend of oranges, auburns, browns, reds, mustard yellow. Would have to be in dk weight and self striping to make an awesome pair of fingerless mitts perfect for the apple orchard or pumpkin patch.
I think I would call it “Libra’s Harvest”
I would call it “Football Mornings” and I would use red, orange, and greens (for the changing leaves) with blue and white (for the crisp mornings).
My September color would definitely be the EFA September Blog give-away! Gold, Gray, Red, Auburn, Brown…..autumn! Wow! You really hit the nail on the head with your color collection for this month!
Summer Revival would be my name for it and would include deep yellows, blue violet and deep greens. Think goldenrod, autumn aster and chrysanthemum foliage.
I’m really bad at this – but they say go with the first thing that comes to mind – which is ‘AUTUMN HARVEST’! Colors would include moss and sage like greens, Golden yellow colors, browns including tans, and an orange & rusty colors.
I would call the colorway First Fall and it would include bright colors instead of the usual muted autumn hues. Bright grass green with pops of red, yellow, and orange to call to mind the first fallen leaves from my maple trees.
It would be brown and burgundy and I would call it “Fallen leaves”-
I call it amber waves-with all the changing leaves colors
I would call it Grape Harvest. It would be purple and ruby.
Lo llamaré THE BEST!!!
I’d call it Burnished Nature and it have a muted copper base and be dappled with splashes of apple red, maroon, pumpkin orange, yellows, the smoky blue of an evening sky, and the tiniest hint of green.
September reminds me of my sister who was born in the middle of a hurricane so I would call it hurricane and it would be the silvery blues and greens of the ocean with some stormy cloud colors sprinkled into it.
This is NOT my strong talent in yarn arts, but here goes… “A Hint of Autumn” colors: mainly summer green with small pops of golden yellow, and autumn orange and red (for the few branches that are already turning).
Harvest – includes all the colors that come to mind. There are so many great ideas posted above. Can’t really add anything new.
For me, September means Spring! Beautiful vibrant colours of Bougainvillea; the sunny colours of sunflowers; the scent of orange jasmine; the rainbow colours of hibiscus; the yellow of wattle and the crimson of bottlebrush.
I’d call it The Bers Are Here! It’d be a deep green with flashes of mustard, burnt orange, and dark red.
I’d call it the golden season. Because it reminds me of being in your golden years. Or being a senior LOL. And of course, the colors that I would have would be all the Fall colors, the Reds the oranges, the Browns and the goldenrods and a little bit of grren..
September to me is a Celebration! The trees have worked hard all year to provide shelter, food, and beauty for all of us to enjoy. Now they don their best party colours as a thank you for a year well lived…..and then they can rest.
September’s my rejuvenating time of the year. Nature’s gradual color changes and cooler temperatures of Autumn always uplifts my mood after enduring Summer’s overwhelming heat. September colors would begin with beautiful shades of greens & oranges; in late September, added hues of gold, bright orange, brown, bronze & brilliant reds.
I think of September as “Cherished Nature.”
September is an odd month around here. It starts out a definitely, unarguably SUMMER! But by the end of the month, fall has arrived. So my colorway would be have to be called Shoulder Season. It starts out with lots of green and pink, because my Rose of Sharon are blooming like crazy! Then my mums start to show yellow and orange buds, and then by month’s end, the trees start to show the beginning of their upcoming fall splendor, with hints of yellow, orange and red everywhere.
If September was a color, I would call it “Something in the Air” and the color would be Golden hues with tinges of red….
I’d call it Forever September and include earthy tones, brown, gold, orange.
Wow! These are gorgeous.
Fall is my favorite time of the year. When the hot summer is over. I love the golden leaves. Teal is my favorite color, and golden colors go well with it.
If September were a yarn color, it would be called School Daze. It would include blue for jeans, golden yellow for PeeChee folders, white for paper, and bright speckles/splotches of rainbow colors for the variety of shirts and books.
September reminds me of back to school, so yellows, and reds, mixed with deep blues and purples of an autumn sunset.
I’d do colors like brown, orange, red, etc., and I’d call it something like Autumn Leaves!
I’d call it Apple. The colors would be red, pink, cream, and light green.
I would call it Indian Summer and the colors would include bronze, gold, red and brown
Transitioning- changing from summer to autumn. Colors of tawny brown, olive, burnt orange and dusky yellow to highlight the season!
Maple Forest – bright red base , with streaks of orange, yellow, and deep brown.
My September color would be the gorgeous deep purple with hot pink undertones, “Amaranthus” and I would have an ivory “Queen Anne’s Lace” or a beautiful gold “Goldenrod” as a contrast color – actually, I think I would have a September set with all of the above because I just love these flowers of Fall!!!!!
I’d call it “Gimme s’more” and it would have the colors of chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and golden graham cracker.
Since it’s the beginning of spring here in the southern hemisphere, I’d call mine ‘Coastal Breeze’, with hues of sandy beiges and neutrals, with sparkling light blue and that greenish aquamarine. The beaches are fabulously windy this time of year, and the colors get so vivid!
September is a very special month for me, as it is the birth month of my maternal grandmother, my mother and my son. The month reminds me of long, warm Indian Summer days, when the grain fields are golden yellow, leaves still retain their green veins and there’s just a hint of early snow on the Rocky Mountains against a light sapphire sky. I would call the color “Summer Magic”.
Oh. In September I delight in having the windows open with a fresh breeze flowing while I sleep. And during the day, it’s equally delightful to be outdoors with the hint of cooler weather coming. So I would call my September color way Joyful Breeze. The colors would include sunny yellow, shades of blue and purple.
Call it “Fall-ish”. Warm and jewel tones of yellow, orange, green, red with a hint of mauve or blues.
I would call it “Scent of Late Summer” and include dark brown and vibrant oranges.
Septembers colors would be named Changes. Burnt orange, rust, golden yellow, vibrant red, chocolate brown would be my color choices. Also a grey blue for the color of the sky in September here in Michigan.
It would need to be a yarn kit….a fade of some sort. It would consist of a bright summer yellow that fades into the bright orange, deep russet orange to deep reds and greens and browns of autumn with speckles of sapphire blues. I have to have my blue in there somewhere. Maybe also a stormy grey for the storms that start coming in to herald the colder weather of the season
I would call it my favorite Autumn Color Basics, and it would include 2 of every fall color in the red , orance, yellow, brown, and green spectrum along with at least 8 neutral colors like black, white, beige, and gray.
September would be Hello Autumn with earthy hues of goldenrod, deep red, black spruce, and burnt orange
Not Autumn Yet
It would have shades of green purple pink and blue like a summer garden, but one end would be dipped in gold/rust like the color change to come.
I would call it Ensemble Cast and it would include all the browns and golds and jewel tones.
Transitions. Skeins could include any colors, but show movement between hues, intensity, tints and shades, etc.
I would choose a lot of colours, a little faded and somehow with light in it. there are plenty of flowers this month.
I visualize the Sept colorway as having golden mustardy yellow in it, among with some toasty brown and some weathered barn red.
September’s colorway would becalled “Come Alive” and include all the jewel tones. Fall is the time people travel to “See the Colors.”
Now it is difficult to think of a colour for September, to me this is a time of the changing of the colours for the trees, plums, apples and pears ripeing on the trees. Winter fruit coming out, blackberries, red currants, raspberries and gooseberries. If I was thinking of different colours I would go for deep reds, plums, greens, browns. I think I would call it fruit delights
September always reminds me of harvesting, so I would name it Golden Harvest with all the beautiful colors in the garden. Lucious burgundy, purples, emerald, light green, orange, yellow, browns and cream
I’d call my colour – Autumn Warmth – a combination of golds and reds and gorgeous browns.
I’d call it Pumpkin Spice Season and fill it with warm pumpkin orange and gold tones with a spike of forest green and a hint of teal.
I would call it Hot Spiced Cider and include all the Fall colors! Fall is my very favorite season!
Fall Extravaganza would be a good name. Fall colors are my favorite colors. My knitting friends know to point out my colors when we re yarn crawling. Olive greens, burnt oranges, golden or sunflower yellows and rusts.
I’d call it “Amber Morn” – and include deep golds, deep forest green, earthy brown, neutral beige/cream, and blue/gray.
Jeweled Maize: all the sumptuous colors of multicolored, beautiful Indian Corn varieties we’ll honor & celebrate our beautiful Indigenous ancestors/communities!
I would call it – Changing Seasons Forever
I liked the other comment of corn-ucopia, like indian corn colors. I thought that was a good idea.
I choose “Shenandoah.” I was able to glance through some other commenters’ offerings, and someone else chose it too! We love our autumn drives through the Shenandoah Valley. So I needed some poetic names for those glorious colors, but am a wee bit short on time (I’m at work), so called on AI to assist (I would have thought of them if I had had enough time! LOL Here we go: (1) Amber Whisper, (2) Crimson Serenade, (3) Saffron Veil, (4) Burnished Cooper, (5) Golden Harvest, (6) Maple Enchantment, (7) Twilight Rust, (8) Scarlet Cascade, (9) Ochre Dreams, and (10) Emerald Farewell. Can’t wait to see the collection! 🙂
I’d call all of the beautiful colors “Fall Festival”. Colors would include beautiful shades of gold, apricot, evergreen, burgundy and eggplant purple.
These colors would make beautiful fall and early winter accessories.
I think I would call it “Early Sunset.” MY colors would include many shades of reds, oranges, golds, school bus yellows, blues and green. Maybe a carry yarn in “kryptonite green” to reflect the occasional “green flash” that can be seen shortly after sunset when the conditions are right.
September reminds me of school starting and shorter days so it would be tough to think of one, but I think a variation on primary colors and call it “first day of school” (even though school started in August here)
I would call it “Rustic”, and it would be a blend of earthy yellow-green, gold, and rust
Hmmmm, Golden yellows, rust, rich browns, hints of purples, maple leaf reds, a touch of deep green, burnt orange. Call it “Fall Festival”
I think it would have varying shades of greens with golds, reds, burgundy, and copper accents and i would call it Peekaboo Falls since fall is just starting and the colors are just starting to change
I would name it Autumn Love, because I so love the season! Colours would be warm browns, gold, dark yellow, burgundy, pumpkin orange, apple red, and ecru.
If September were a color I would call it Sunsets and Crisp Mornings. Gold, orange, pink, dash of purple, blues.
I would name the yarn, Happiness! it would include the colors ochre and burgundy and olive and navy. All the colors that make me happy knowing that summer has given way to Fall and soon it will be Christmas .
Autumn by the campfire. With golds, reds, oranges and a touch of green.
I would include colors of deep red, gold and green to match the grasslands starting to change their colors and call it Autumn Colors.
I would call it new beginnings, as it reminds me of going back to school and all the fresh starts we get then. It also seems like a good time to freshen the house or start a new habit. I would include pencil yellow, burgundy, and dark blues.
I would call it Doug’s Eyes and it would have shades of blue from sky to royal to sapphire. My late husband had a September birthday and eyes to match his birthstone, especially when he wore my favourite royal blue polo shirt. People often asked if he was wearing coloured contact lenses.
What a fun question to ask! I love seeing all the replies and ideas too. September starts the fall season for us, and soon hay bales will come out and luscious mums will be available at the local greenhouse to purchase. I love mums in the fall.
So I would call my colorway “Bouquet of Mums”. It would feature a deep plum, sunflower yellow, tomato soup red, tangerine orange and forest green. Don’t forget to pair it with a skein of a warm heather oatmeal skein called “Hay Bales”!
September is a Sunflower Harvest. A deep, warm, rich sunflower yellow base with splashes of brown/black, emerald green and deep sky blue. On a base with silk to mimic the satin look of petals.
September would be rich, fresh colors found deep in the woods. Rich browns of rough barks. Orange and gold leaves drifting from the canopy. Verdigris moss floating from branches and squishy emerald moss underfoot. And the dark teal of a beaver pond.
I can picture the colors, but am so bad about names. September makes me think of Gold, warm orange, and red. And I think of cooler temperatures and apple pies and warm apple cider donuts. So throw a a tan/brown in the mix and you have my Sept colors! Maybe the group could be Apple Treats!
I think I would name it “Apple Time” I would take the colors of the apples that grow in my back yard. So a light yellow, a dark red, a light green, and a pink.
I would call September “Transition”. I would use some solid colors with variegated yarns to symbolize change. Fall isn’t just about the color changes in the leaves. Animals prepare for hibernation. They store their food for the winter. The days are cooler and shorter as the Northern Hemisphere is tilting away from the sun. There is less direct sunlight and shorter daylight hours. September would be be colors of navy blue, pewter blue, terra cotta, dark coral, gold taupe.
If Sept was turned into a colorway, Since it’s my birthday month, I’d have to call it Sapphire n Purple. It would be a mix of a few different colors of dark blues n a few dark purples, since purple is my favorite color. But would make sure they contrast each other in order for it to stay mostly the Sapphire color.
I’d call the September color way “Sweater Weather” because I LOVE the cool, crisp autumn air when I can wear sweaters! It would consist of saturated shades of wine, gold, blue-purple, and chocolate.
For me, September is either blue for sapphires or fall colors for the typical beginning of autumn. That’s as far as my creative mom-brain can go right now. >_<
Jewel tones for my love of rich, deep tones. Gold, reds, forest greens, teal blues and a rich magenta. I love the fall and earth tones are my favorites in my wardrobe, but a beautiful shawl in jewel tones would be perfect. Your red shawl pattern is gorgeous! I’m thinking it’s Bridges of Venice, but that’s not the all red one. I would love a chance to try this variety of yarn types, and I love variegated yarn. My fall yarn would look like a collage of colors from our trip to New Hampshire!
I’d call a September colour way “A Bouquet of Mums” and there are so many shades to choose from. My choices would be……….creamy white, bronze or copper, deep magenta, sunny yellow, lilac purple, rust, and a muted green for the foliage. Autumn leaves are better suited to an October colour way. I really love your Libra colours!
I love purple so I would call it the Love Lavender giveaway.
September Hope Springs Eternal. For those of us in the southern hemisphere we are bursting into spring. Yippee. The hope of warmer weather is just around the corner. In Australia our roadsides are blessed with colors of wattle yellow. Paper daisy oranges, pinks and white. The pinks and reds of waratahs, protea and Leucadendron. The corals through to rich reds of gum flowers or bottle brush against the grey green leaves. The rich purples of sea lavender, salvias or Jacaranda trees. So many beautiful colors to make rich pallets from. How can you not be hopeful when blessed with beauty everywhere around you. Just like your fabulous yarns. xxxx
I would call the September colorway “End of Summer” and include orange in it.
My September color way would include shades of green, gold, and red for the changing leaves, and deep blue for the clear skies we often get at this time of year.
September is spring in my part of the world, I would have daffodil yellows, fresh greens, grape hyacinth purples and apple blossom pinks. I would call it, “New Life.”
Autumn is my favorite season. I’d call a September colorway Autumn Nights and include rich chocolate brown, orange, dark red, golden yellow, and straw colors.
I’d call it magic forest and include all the gorgeous fall forest colors 🍁🧡🤎
September is transition month so colors going from deep green to bright yellows, oranges, reds and deep browns. I would call it Changing Me.
“In between”: half gray, half greens, with little spots of yellow and reddish brown.
I would call it Liberty & go with patriotic colors. Too early for fall for me!
I would call it Golden Hour, or something similar, with oranges, yellows, and reds.
Hues of Autumn. I would include Golds, Pumpkin, Browns, Oranges, Greens, Darker Reds.
September’s colorway has to be “Golden Embrace” as we feel the embrace of the Sun, as he starts his goodbyes to Summer, and also feel the call of ripe fields of grain, of the deep purple of grapes in the vines; the Gilded Bronze and Crimson of the foliage around us, pinpointed with the greens of trees that will still be here to warm our hearts in December.
Those would be the colours I’d choose, some solid, some mixed together, some maybe just for specs of contrast or support of another colour, just like nature does to everything in the time that shifts from one season to another:
Gold, Bronze, (maybe also Wheat, Linen), Crimson, Deep Purple, Dark Green.
Thanks Chandi, Tim and all of the team for all you do. 🙂
I would call it The Beginning of the Bers. It would be muted fall colors (the browns, sages, russets, golds, etc) symbolizing the colors just beginning to creep in slowly, sneaking ever so slightly around us like a gentle hug from a long lost friend.
I’d call it September Surprise. It would incorporate golden yellow, soft brown, burnt orange, rich burgundy and (the surprise) a bit of blue and white to acknowledge the sky.
I would call September Harvest Beginnings – I would do a varigated yarn to blend several colors of fall and late summer together (orange, red, green, yellows and brown). This is my favorite time of year and also my wedding anniversary month. The fall colors were the absolute best on our honeymoon in 2011.
September means back to school. A great color way theme- the yellow school bus, a red apple, the brick school building, black and white composition notebook 📓
As a retired teacher, September will always be the beginning of the year.
Enjoy the fall Chandi, Tim and all.
I would call it Aspen Glow and contain all the colors aspen trees turn in late September. Bright golds, oranges and warm reds. Maybe even include an evergreen color representing the contrast between the turning aspens and the evergreen trees.
I would call it “Autumnal Light” — I hope you can see this photo of the view behind my house that captures the colors and glow!
IMG_0693.jpg
September – Seasons come Seasons go – it’s a time of change. Green fades to yellow, orange, and brown.
I would call it Serotinal, which means late summer hinting on the shift into fall. It would include warm yellow, orange, burnt orange, crimson red, and an aubergine purple.
My husband loved going to Rocky Mountain National Park to listen to the elk bugle during the fall rut in September. I love the coloring of mature elk—from a very light beige rump patch to a light brown coat and on to a dark brown mane. Then their antlers vary, so a fourth color could be a reddish-brown, a gray-brown or an amber. That would make a nice gradient kit. 🙂
If September were a colorway I’d call it, Glowing Fall Leaves. I remember visiting New England in the gorgeous fall with Grandmother (who taught me how to crochet). The leaves were GLOWING yellow, orange, red and gold.
As a Texan who had never really experience the autumn colors, it was spectacular. Locals kept saying it was better the prior weekend. I could not believe anything could have been better. 🍁🍂🍁
September for me is also spring, not autumn. Hence I would call it New Birth. It would have lovely bright greens, yellows, sky-blues, pinks and whites. Greens like the foliage as it starts to burst forth on the trees and all the blossoms on the trees. Then all the bulb flowers poking their heads up from the ground, telling us those warm summer days are on the way.
For me September has always been the period of the year in which things that have been suspended during the summer, re-start.
It can be school, work, fresh air, holyday (now that I work during the summer), anything that after the summer restarts.
So I would call it REFRESH! as the refresh button that restarts things and updates the email box!
It would contain the color light blue, that reminds me of the sky-clear, sunny, fresh-breezed, september days
🙂
Septembers color would be called So Long Summer. Blues and yellows transitioning to deep gold and rust
My September colorway would be called Brisk and Breezy… because that’s what I long for! I live in an area that doesn’t get much of a fall and I miss it sorely. My colors would be deepest golden yellow, faint rusty orange, lightest aqua blue like the skies, and a dark and moody green with hints of gray, like the leaves.
What a beautiful giveaway! I would name my yarn Autumn Orchard with reds, greens, yellows and golden browns
I would do a mix of yellows, with the primary shade matching a number 2 pencil, plus a touch of graphite grey. I’d call it Pencil Pouch.
I think calling a colorway “Fall Feels” with mossy greens, dark reds and oranges, and a little pop of golden yellow would be where it’s at.
Spring Day is 1st September here in South Africa. I’m from the highveld area (south of Johannesburg). We predominantly have veld (grassland). The brown, straw grass starts flourishing into green, slumbering trees start waking, wild flowers burst into bloom everywhere – allergies galore!
I would call September yarn “Hayfever”
Straw yellow, fresh green, bark brown, indigo flowers, pink white jasmine, and maybe baby sky blue
September would be “Back to school” with Pencil yellow, navy blue and maroon (common school team colors, chalkboard green, white with thin blue stripes for ruled paper, and apple red.
September to will always be sapphire, my mother’s birthstone. But I love all of the gemstone hues.
I’d call it “False Fall” and it would be green with flecks of brown, red, yellow, orange.
I would have emerald greens, vivid oranges, lime greens, bright yellows, and light berry reds in my September colorway. It would signify the beginning of the leaves changing without all the browns and golds that come when they really do change. As for a name? That one’s hard, maybe something simple like “changing leaves” or something like that
I would call it Autumn Nostalgia, and it would have the colors of changing leaves, the last green grass of summer, light grey for the smell of wood smoke for the memories of summer bonfires and wood stoves firing up for the first time as the weather cools. #2 pencil yellow for the excitement of school starting up, and white looking ahead to the coming winter.
I would call it falls start and would include a range of reds from burgundy to a candy apple and some oranges and yellows as well.
I would call it Delicious. It would include Jewel tone reds, greens, orange, yellow, purples, blues, brown, shades of gray. Think fall leaves, sunsets and of course all the delicious foods available this time of year.
These colors are so beautiful! I would call it “The Ber Months” and it would include a deep navy blue, burgundy, forest green and amber. Deep navy to represent the blue birthstone of September, forest green to represent the Christmas trees in December, burgundy for the autumn leaves and amber to represent the glow of firelight and sunsets.
My colorway would be called Progression. It would feature golden amber, burnt orange, maple leaf red, and maple syrup brown—capturing the beauty of autumn leaves as they change, and the transformations we experience within ourselves.
I would call it Abundance, but it is hard to know what to include. Gold for ripe grasses, green for what is still growing, red and plum for ready fruit, brown for healthy nourished soil, blue for the water carrying life. It is a fun thing to think about, but I have no idea what it would look like with all that blended.
Burnished leaves – golden copper, deep reds and rich browns.
“Teal Next Year”
Fall is definitely my season. I think I would have some reds, orange, yellows and some greens with a splash of brown, and call it Summer Sleeps.
I would call a September color way Knitting Season. It would have bright blue for the skies, golden yellow for the sunflowers, and faded green for the leaves There needs to be another color in there, but I do not know what would tie it together.
I’d call it Sapphire Sky and include all the shades of blue from darkest sapphire to the palest sky blue.
Colorway: Autumn Sky
Sky blue, teal, chocolate, golden brown, and rusty pumpkin orange.
It would be a blend of dark grey and sunny yellow. Nevada can’t figure out if it wants monsoons or 90 degree heat!
I’d call September, “Autumn Glory” for all those amazing, glowing colors- red, burgundy, gold, brown, yellow, and so many more!
I would include the colors of the changing leaves and the sunset, then call it Golden Glow. My kind of colors 🙂
If September were a colorway I’d call it “Color Shuffle”, a slow dance of vivid hue in nature that we can watch on the wind.
I would call it Quiet Radiance. September is jewel tones: the sapphire blue sky, emerald leaves, and citrine start of changing leaves. It is a time between the bright, long days of summer; and the cool of autumn. There is peace, calm, and warmth in September. The world is not asleep, like in winter; instead set between the party of summer and the business of the holidays.
Is September was a colorway, I would call it The Embering. Summer gives way to fall as sunsets come earlier and the fall colors emerge. Colors would be hues of orange (my favorite color), browns, yellows and cream
Someone suggested “cornucopia” I totally agree as the Indian corn has ALL the colors!
My September yarn collection would be called “The First -ber” to celebrate finally making it to the “-ber” months and in anticipation of that first fall breeze… Brrr! I’d include dark fern, chestnut, gold, and a dark cider!
Misty Mornings, and I’ld do a pale mohair (or other fluffy yarn) blend with neeps of different traditional autumn colours.
I’d call it Summer’s Gloaming and it would be deep teals, burgundies, dusky purples- inspired by the earlier sunsets and colors in ornamental corn.
I would call it “All The Jewels” and it would be a mix of sapphire, ruby, amethyst and aquamarine, peridot and white for diamond.
Here, in the South, September is the month of the spring, so I call the colorway “Pimpollo” ( Flower bud, in Spanish) and in a resembrance of the Magnolia Fuscata tree it must have puple, white and brown
I would call it Fall Beauty and it would be a perfect sky blue with speckles of yellow, gold, orange, deep red, avocado green..
If I were to name a color for September, why not simply September?
Although I don’t live in an area where the leaves turn spectacular colors, they kind of just turn a sickly yellow and fall off.
In fact, it’s STILL in the 100°’sF here, actually tired of summer, fall being my favorite, because, well, there’s Halloween!!
September colors should be burnished coppers, golds, deep reds, oranges with some rich browns thrown in for good measure.
I’d call the September yarn color way Autumn Equinox and it would have the colors of Sunflowers -marled or ombre yarns in yellow, burnt orange, sepia, deep reds, green. Sunflowers represent both the height of summer but also moving into the deeper colors of fall.
My colorway would be called “Harvest”. I’m in NW Florida and we start harvesting peanut hey and cotton towards the end of September. My colors would have shades brown, golden straw, white, and specks of burgundy to give it some color!
With the beginning of fall, it seems Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice might be a good name. The colors would be red, orange, gold and green to match the changing leaves, as well as its namesake.
“Harvest” it will include brown with specs of color to match the fruits been harvested this month.
If September was a colorway I would call it cedar and cider, with dark green, light orange, dark red, and a splash of misty grey for those foggy New England fall mornings.
If September was a color… hmm. There’s been some great ideas already shared, but I think I’d name the colorway Fleeting Summer and it would feature some Mossy Greens, shades of red between Strawberry and Apples, some Golds and a few Oranges.
September’s colorway is named relief. It has rainy blue and lots of shades of green with yellow, orange, and red speckles.
If September were turned into a yarn colorway, I would you call it Glowing Glory, and it would include glowing orange and golden colours
I would name it Seasonal Segue, and it would include the colors of my favorite summer fruits and vegetables transitioning into the colors fall eaves – bright berry and watermelon reds deepening and becoming more like wine reds; deep plums lightening into shades of puce and mauve; peach, coral and blush shades becoming vibrant pumpkin orange or rich, earthy copper; sunny corn and cool wheat tones becoming bright golds and gentle browns. Each transition would take place over about a yard of yarn, and would include speckling and marling as well as the color changes themselves.
Well, that’s mine, for what it’s worth. A lot of these other combinations sound dreamy too!
Cornfield: A variegation of green from a deep leafy green to a light grassy one to a rich goldenrod yellow, with just the barest sprinkles of the pinkish tan of drying corn tassels. It would be dashed liberally with the bold royal blue of a late summer sky.
Hmmmm. I would suggest a garnet red, because it’s a. ) still hotter than heck here most Septembers b.) a very warm and fall-ish color. The name would be The First Leaf.
September is one of our hottest months in my region so it would be cooler fibers and a spectrum of warm & hot colors!
I propose “Falling for Autumn”, with different shades of Rust, Purples and Deep Greens 😍
Ooh, I’d have a two skein series- bewitched and beguiled
My September colors would be yellow, gold, orange and pale green. I would name it end of summer.
That’s a great question…I think it would have different shades of green, red, yellow, orange! I’d call it ‘Prelude To Fall’
I would call it Abundant Harvest with colors of gold, greens, reds, plum and orange.
Leaf Peeper – every color on the warm spectrum from yellow to Burgundy Red with some slight olive greens and varying shades of brown. No blue, black or white
This color palette for the giveaway is wonderful!
I’ll name it A Fall to love 🧡💛💚, with the hearts 😊. It will be orange, yellow, brown and deep red. But I must say I can’t wait for spring to come already….
I’d call it September Sunset or Autumn Sunset, and make it as a gradient of shades of purple/violet, yellow, orange and red.
Fall is just around the corner Greens with a few speckles of oranges, gold, and reds
Cool nights are here (bright blues for the fall skies)
I’d call it Hayride. Definitely have dusty browns and yellow, pumpkin orange and colors with pops of deep blue and purple. Maybe one bright true blue for an autumn sky
I live in the south, so the pretty fall colors don’t happen yet in September as we’re still stuck in the heat but if September we’re a colorway I would name it sapphire. I would give them a range of rainbow colors and they would sparkle like your shimmery colorway yarns that I love to look at all day. I’m a Virgo and sapphires are my birthstone and they can come in just about every color. I’m waiting for the day I can afford some of your beautiful yarn for a whole project but I absolutely adore your patterns. Thank you so much for this giveaway opportunity.
Autumn Haze! Would include shades of orange, rust, saffron and browns.
I’d call it Segue, as in from summer to fall. It would be green, copper and purple- the colors of fall mums!
I would call an autumn colorway Autumn Memories and it would remind me of a vest I had when I was young. It was mostly a russet brown mixed with brown and a bit of brownish/orange, specks of cream, and an odd speck of blue here and there. I was a beautiful yarn.
Thank you for the opportunity to win such an amazing gift of beautiful yarn. September themed yarn would have to be called something like Goodbye Summer, I’ll miss you until we meet again! Summery colors but just a little deeper moving into Fall colors.
September is filled with Grey skies that is then touched by the most perfect blue
If September were a colorway, it would have to reflect saying goodbye to Chesapeake blue crab feasts. An homage to them in beautiful rich blue hanks, fiery crimsons, and variegated grey-greens and the colors of a bushel basket. I would call it “Old Bay.”
A fall colorway could be called Rich Harvest and include saturated colors of orange, gold, burgundy, navy, forest green.
September colorway for me would be the combination of the last day at the pool, summer storms, and the first bonfire. Light aquamarine, Storm cloud blue, forrest green, smokey grey, charred purple, and fiery topaz. I really wish we could add photos to these comments because I couldn’t help myself and pulled out the watercolors to make sure the combination would work.
Maybe a warm grey brown?
Hmmm. September colorways….warm browns with some mauve to look like the leaves falling with specks of a dark green and a tiny touch of yellow and orange speckles for the leaves. A name? Connecticut Fall
If September were a color, it would be a icy-hazy grayish wisp of blue with flecks of sun drenched gold gold
Luxurious Jewels would be my choice. ALL Saturated Jewel Tones starting with Sapphire Sky in a brilliant blue… these colors would show off the vibrant colors of both Spring and Fall depending on where you live.
I would name the colorway Autumn Memory. It would be a range of colors blending deep reds to russet and gold.
Every September, I am reminded of returning to school in the newly cool, crisp air of early mornings in Wisconsin.
I call it “September breeze” and the colors would be orange and bright blue.
Where I live the colors are sky blue, greens and golds, with maybe a bit of purple.
I would call it Changing Seasons and include warm yellow, light orange, teal blue, sage, and a beautiful shade of purple
first frost – colors that remind me of frosted pastures – shades of wheat gold, light silvery green, weathered wood, pine needles – the ones that are still green and the rusty colored ones that blanket the ground, the darker honey and browns of the shadows, the white of sycamore bark and the bright yellow of their fall leaves.
I would call it ‘Fabulous Fall’
And the colors would include:
Copper/Browns/Greys/Greens/Blues and Creams
I would call it Autumn Dance with the yellows, reds of the falling leaves, brown to dark gray of the tree trunks, and gray-blue of the sky.
Blues and gold.
I’d call it “Transitions”. There’d be deep red, shades of brown, rust, gold, blue sapphire and deep green. I love this transitional month where we start to go from summer to autumn!
I would call it, a scent of Autumn. I love the scents of Autumn, like the fallen leaves, rain in the skye, apple pie, pumkin soup, …. Those are also the colours I would include. Orange, brown, dark red, warm yellow. My favorite season is still summer but I also love to cuddle up on the couch under a blanket with my needles and a cup of hot chocolate.
September is always “State Fair” month to me, but that name sounds too red/white/blue, and the colors you’ve chosen are mostly the colors of autumn leaves. “Indian Summer” and “Shenandoah” were two good suggestions I saw. “Autumn Leaves” might fit as well.
If September were a color I’d call it Storm. The wind changes direction, blowing stronger and feeling electric. The clouds become a darker steel hue. Our wedding anniversary is the last week of September and we enjoy going to the coast to watch the storms roll in over the ocean. The season is over, the tourists have gone home and we feel we have the entire ocean to ourselves! It may sound odd, but we enjoy sitting on the beach to watch the storms roll in.
September absolutely bursts with the colors of fall leaves drifting, vegetables ripening, apples ready to drop, and grasses turning golden.
Harvest Hues is the color name I’d pick.
Fall is such a beautiful time of year, so of course, you’d be coming up with beautiful skeins and kits for the season. When I think of fall, I think of the deep, rich hues that embody the season. If I were dyeing yarn, I’d call a set for fall, Harvest Hibernation. With colors like Windy Wine-a deep burgundy with a hint of black and royal red, and Midnight Sky with specks of indigo, and Umber the Moon, a lovely, warm and deep umber brown with flecks of dark grey, and maybe Eggnog White, a more than warm white. I might even stick one in there called Emerald Valley, deep toned emerald green with other tonal greens and sienna colors. How’s that?
If September were a colorway I would call it Ophelia, and it would include a dark hunter green, a vibrant, shiny black, but also a matte black, and flecks of white and gold throughout. Maybe even some strands/sections of dark, burnt orange. Because September is my daughter’s birthday month, and those colors remind me of her, and Ophelia is her middle name. What a fun thought exercise!
Yes! This is totally what I have in mind too!
September color way Named : Let’s Fall in Love.
Splashes of Sapphire blue, & Medium leaf green, with Veins of Wine burgundy running throughout, some small speckles of Aubergine And a glimmer of gold Stelina.
Golden Glow – why? Because in some places, you get golden leaves already, and at dawn, when there’s still mist on the leaves, when the first rays of sun fall on them, it seems as they are glowing.
Colors: golden brown, reddish gold, dark green with brown freckles
Ooh a September yarn! To me September speaks of crisp mornings, wild blackberries picked as you walk and the simultaneous cycle of apple season and back to school 📚 🍎. So for me it would have to be a variegated yarn in all shades of fresh green apples with speckles and bursts of crushed blackberry. I’d call it “Apple & Blackberry Crumble”. 🥧🍁🍏🫐🍇🫐🍏🐿️🥧
I’d call it Autumn Twilight—a mix of deep gold, burnt orange, cranberry red, and hints of dusky purple, like leaves glowing under an early evening sky.
I’d call the colorway September Song and include Goldenrod yellow, light purple, deep purpleish-red, burnt orange, a rich light tan – sort of the color of a dried oak leaf, dark grey-blue, and rich cream.
All the colorways you have are so sumptuous I wouldn’t care, they are always so yummy! If I were rich I would buy your store!
Summer is just coming to close in September, I still see so many flowers and bright colors, but some trees are starting to change color. It’s such a beautiful and colorful time!

I’d call it: enter the “BER” season! It would be navy gold and reds!
I would call the colorway Jewels of Autumn, with the muted gold, red, sage and browns of fall.
Indian Corn. It has all the wonderful colors of fall
If September were a color, I’d imagine it would be red with flecks of dark orange and brown. I’d call it Spicy Maple.
I think I’d call it Rodeo Sunset and it would be a combo of dusty to rusty leathery browns with some bright yellow and orange and a bright but deep rose-pink

Cosy fall
Cosy Autumn
Autumnal glory
Splendiferous color burst

I would call it, Seasons changing and focus on the colors of fall and autumn to express the leaves changing colors
Summer Sunset! In Idaho, we get beautiful sunsets at the end of summer! A mix of vibrant reds, oranges, and a bit of pink. It also has a bit of an autumn vibe 🍂
I’d call it Restful Renewal. The colors are deeper and darker but stll showing signs of joyful life!

I would call it Falling Dreams with coppery browns, rusty oranges, ochre, and pine green.
I live in New England where lately it’s really been mid October, not early September. 45F in the morning is NOT a summer day! So I feel that a colorway for September would be called “Mother Nature is Confused” and it would include your typical fall colors but maybe in a more pastel version of them – so fall but not quite. Yellows, oranges, reds, but pastel/soft versions of those.
I would call it A Change is Coming and it would include the colors sage, dusty rosewood, amber, wheat, burnt coral, and sky blue. ❤️
It’s Indian Summer here and also time to harvest corn. Indian Rainbow Corn has so many colors to choose from. Indian Glass Corn has all of the colors in the rainbow… I might call it Summer’s End.
This is difficult, as all 3 places I’ve experienced September have been vastly different.
Alaska September would be called Tourist. September marks the end of summer and nights start to get shorter, so it would be a dark skein with blacks, browns, deep blues and greens, and an occasional pop of orange for the leaves.
California September would be called Arid. The color would be that light brownish gray of dead foliage, dried grass on the mountains, and the dirt under it all.
Eastern Shore September would be called Harvest. All the commercial crops are being harvested, but so are my own grapes, herbs and vegetables – so I would do a deep grape purple with greens and reds peeking through.
I think I would call a September colorway “Mum’s the Word!” since they are the most popular flower decoration in my part of the country in Fall. The colors would be white, yellow, dark pink, orange, red and purple, all the jewel tone colors of mums.
I’d call it Festival Nights, because September kicks off all of the fall festivals where I live. It would have the faded gold color of straw, deep indigo of the night sky, crisp apple red, and the deep green of the forest at twilight-so dark it is just a step from black.
I would call it Autumn Harvest.
If September were a color, I would call it transformation and it would be the color of an orange red grey blue dark sunset on the cusp of twilight. Probably would have some tinsel yarn thrown in for twinkle light feel

Chrysanthemum – mauve, purple, gold and rust
Autumn’s Kiss – a mix of yellow and gold to burnt orange, sagey greens to brown, deep red to burgundy and a touch of purple
Autumn Spice a nod to spicy apple cider. A warm brown yarn with pops of red, green and yellow sprinkled throughout.
Apple Harvest – a mix of crisp apple green, deep red, creamy white, and soft brown, like a basket full of freshly picked apples.
Vineyard Glow: rich burgundy, dark grape purple, olive green, and golden honey, inspired by vineyards heavy with fruit in early autumn.
My favorite time of the year! I love the name someone used earlier, Autumn Harvest with deeper shades of greens, yellows, oranges, reds with a splash of burgundy.
It would be the color of a painted watercolor cerulean blue sky, with deep russet reds and vibrant oranges, with some forest green and midnight blue mixed in.
The name would be Autumnal Bliss.
If September were a colorway, I’d call it September Rush. It would be a variegated colorway. The skein/Hank would include colors such as Jacaranda purple that would fade into blackberry or plum, hunter green, red cedar that would fade into wine or burgundy, and a deep peacock teal that fades into indigo, and possibly finish with a copper.
I would call mine “Vintage Sapphire”. 😊 My birthday is in September, my birthstone a sapphire, so a deep jewel-toned blue is the first color I thought of and would be the main color in a skein. Each skein would be variegated, though, with some other favorite fall and “vintage-y” colors, such as gold, magenta, dark pumpkin orange, deep dark green; like the changing leaves, and homegrown pumpkins, squashes and gourds!
If September were a colorway I would call it Campfire and Smores. It would have all the colors of a campfire with spots of white. September is all about those fall campfires where you sit outside with friends and family, enjoying good conversations, good food, warm blankets, and just peace.

Fall leaves & Crisp apple colors!

Sangria Sunsets with bold oranges, salmon, deep purples, and magenta with a spattering of olive greens
The night shadow
Beautiful set of colors! I think Autumnal Hug would be a good name
If September were a color way it would start with bluish green hues that would lowly turn a bit red, then orange then yellow into a toasty woodsy brown with flecks of white. The perfect transition from summer to winter!

Your September colorway is one of my favorites with reds, browns, yellow, white, and a little green that is fading. I’d call it transition
I feel Tranquility would describe the Fall collection of your beautiful yarn. Fall is my favorite season. I love sitting on my outdoor patio knitting with the beautiful, crisp Fall temperatures, while taking in all the sounds of nature…the birds chirping, the rustling of the leaves, the beautiful sound from my wind chimes with the breeze and of course a cup of hot tea or coffee!
I would call it Back to School and have bold colors like yellow school buses, green grass playgrounds, grey chalkboards etc.
September is my birth month and the birthstone is a sapphire, so I’d maybe have a variegated deep rich blue with splashes of cream, gold, bronze, rust. I don’t know if that’s even possible haha. But I’d call it Stone Fallen.
“Summer’s last kiss” and make it deep green with colors of dark pink rose, a bit of golden orange or bronze flecks, and maybe some others.
I would call it Transition and I would include the color of leaves as they change colors….reds, yellow, oranges with some greens and maybe some browns.
If September were a colorway I would call it Autumnal Equinox and it would have reds (for maple), golds (for elm), and greens (for pines). ❤️
Maybe a creamy wheat colorway called Elysian Fields?
Mustards, chocolate brown, creams, Burgundy, dark green and copper come to mind for the fall season. I’d called it Autumn harvest 🙂
September is the month when you start to feel a chill in the air, the sun rises later and sets earlier, the leaves on the trees go through a transition of greens, oranges, yellows and rich deep reds and purples and there is a musty cool damp smell in the air. If September was made into a yarn colour it would have to be rich and deep browns, gold, burnt orange and deep blackened reds with dashes of grape purple. I would call the yarn The Transition of Autumn.’s Calling.
September reminds me of Back to School… and I’d include school bus yellow, apple red, a strong blue and green, and maybe a softer orange or brown too. All nostalgic colors!
I would call it Fall foliage . I continue to be forever impressed with expression fiber arts yarn and patterns. Thank you for everything you do!
How about Second Summer, since that is where we are right now. It is more like July than September around here, so maybe browns like in my dying grass, the oranges of my milkweed flowers (the only plant doing well at my house), and green for how the leaves still look.
Crisp Orchard – apple-skin red, russet leaves, and a touch of moss green.
I would call it Autumn Blaze filled with red, orange yellow, and sienna
Late Summer Harvest. A wheat colored base with a mix of reds, oranges, greens, and deep purples.
I’d call it “Persephone’s journey” to include all the colors representing the changing of the season when all goes underground. Rusts browns burnt oranges golds off white deep reds and a touch of green because there is life it has just gone to sleep
Reds, Orange, and yellows. I would name it Chill Buster. I would love to win these especially to annoy my husband. He thinks I have too much yarn when I don’t have much really, certainly no nice soft and huggable yarn like yours look to be!
For September it would be Turning Enchantment.. have the traditional fall colors with small flecks of summer colors mixed it. Copper with hints of pink and and, hunter green with lilac, deep brown with lighter blues..
I would call it “A Mountain’s Roar”! With the bark of a tree, the blossom of golden rod, the sugar maple on fire Hickory dropping its notes, the whisper of the wind through the trees that are clapping. Falling leaves – the colors would have a gentle fade from dark to light – greens turning into yellow with green edging, greens turning into rust and burgundy.
I live in Las Vegas and it’s still hot here but nicer at night. If it were possible I would create Vegas at sunset. We have some of the most beautiful sunsets when there’s clouds. Where the sky is pink purple and blue. It looks like God made cotton candy in the sky. That would be my color pink purple blue and gold 💜 💙 💕 ✨️
I would call it Sunflower Solstice. Lots of marigold, mustard, Terra cotta and a sprinkling of turquoise
I would call it “September Stone of Wisdom” representing the blue sapphire (the birthstone for September) and its meaning. And the colors would be deep blue tones.

I love the FALL here in NW Wyoming. The aspens are brilliantly colored for the season. Thank you to all at EFA for the excellent job you all do to make my crochet experience fun and squishy.
Purpliciou. And all kinds of purple!

Winds of change and I would say colors would have to be the reds orange yellow and browns.
