Hello, my lovely fiber friend! Today, I want to share with you a unisex trio of knitted accessories that use a technique called Brioche knitting. Read on to learn more!

Jeanne was designed by Jane Vanselous. When asked about her designs, Jane said, “Brioche knitting creates a wonderfully thick and stretchy fabric. It is ideal for cozy accessories or a bulky pullover. This pattern introduces you to the methods used to create brioche fabric. Keeping the designs in one color will help you to focus on learning the technique before jumping into the slightly more complicated two-color version.”

“If this is your first brioche project, begin with the scarf. An option for inserting blocks of double brioche is provided. Once you have mastered the stitches and are comfortable with working in the round, give the cowl a try. Although the hat is a little more advanced, with your new brioche skills, this will be a great addition to your set!”

This trio is considered an Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate level pattern for the scarf. Experience working in the round is recommended for the cowl. In addition to having experience working in the round, at least one brioche project should be completed before making the hat.

The Jeanne accessory set uses our Enduring Worsted yarn. It’s a soft and tightly spun yarn with a nice, tight twist that results in beautiful, defined stitches and projects that will hold up well! This yarn is a blend of 80% Superwash Merino Wool and 20% Nylon.

4 skeins are needed for all three accessories: 2 skeins needed for scarf, 1 skein needed for both the cowl and hat.

The samples shown used approximately 700 yards (640 m) total – Scarf: 401 yds (367 m); cowl: 160 yds (147 m); hat: 130 yds (119 m) and were made in Gray Pearl Enduring Worsted.
