Hello, my dazzling diamond! This week I want to share with you a beautiful knitted shawl pattern called Acalypha. This beautiful shawl was designed by Janica York Carter, and it was inspired by the acalypha plant.

Acalypha are copperleaf plants native to Fiji and neighboring South Pacific islands. This semicircular shawl features several leaf-themed stitch patterns.

Acalypha begins with a garter tab at the top center, progresses from simple increases and stockinette stitch to various lace stitches, and finishes with a knit-on leaf border. Just five increase rows are spaced throughout the body so that you can enjoy the lace knitting without worrying about an ever-changing stitch count.

The sample shown used our Russet Hues Kit on our Resilient Sock yarn. However, you can make this shawl with any 3 skeins of our fingering weight yarn.
The sample shawl used approximately 965 yds (Color A: 230 yds, Color B: 345 yds, Color C: 390 yds). Colors are shown left to right in photo.

We have filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how to work the leaf border on this pattern. Take a look:

This Intermediate level pattern contains written instructions only.

I just love the combination of colors and lace patterns in this shawl. It is such a great addition to any wardrobe!
