Hello, gorgeous! This week gave us some lovely, warm weather here. Did you have the same? It has me in the mood for fun and flirty tops that celebrate warmth, and so I have something new for you that’s perfect for summery days.
The Cumulus top was designed by Kristina Smiley. When asked about her pattern, Jane said, “Cumulus is a quick weekend knit project that adds interest and excitement to your wardrobe. This top features sections of simple openwork stitches and basic drop stitches with a combination of Garter Stitch and Stockinette Stitch backgrounds designed to keep things interesting while you knit.”
“Simple seaming creates an open shoulder design that can be easily altered for those who wish to make their tee in a more traditional style. Slit seams on each side and a longer length on the back make this a fun and flirty piece that is perfect for layering as temperatures fluctuate. In keeping with the customization theme of this design, I have included eight sizes, ranging from bust size 32” (81 cm) to bust size 60” (152.5 cm) with 2” (5 cm) of positive ease.”
This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills include basic drop stitches and mattress seaming. The pattern includes written instructions and schematics and comes with a video tutorial.
The Cumulus top is available in sizes XS, Small, Medium, Large, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL [34” (38”, 42”, 46”, 50”) (54”, 58”, 62”)], which correspond to actual bust sizes of 32” (36”, 40”, 44”, 48”) (52”, 56”, 60”). The top is intended to be worn with 2″ of positive ease.
The original version of Cumulus was knitted with our scrumptious Alpaca Silk DK yarn. This squishy, cuddly, and huggably soft yarn is crafted from a divine 50:50 blend of baby alpaca and mulberry silk, giving it an irresistible drape and a shimmering glow. This yarn is warm, snuggly, and ideal for next-to-skin garments, which makes every stitch a delight. With 230 yds (210 m) per skein, this plush, 4-ply yarn will give you endless creative possibilities!
You’ll need 2 (3, 3, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5) skeins of Alpaca Silk DK, and the original sample used Insurgent Alpaca Silk DK.
The updated version of Cumulus is knitted with our luscious Beacon DK yarn, which is a delightfully soft and shimmery blend of 25% Baby Camel, 25% Mulberry Silk, and 50% Lyocell. It has gorgeous stitch definition, fluid drape, and a luminous glow that makes every stitch feel just a little bit magical. Each skein includes 250 yds/228 m of this silky 8-ply yarn, which is wonderfully versatile for garments, accessories, and so many other creative projects.
You’ll need 2 (2, 3, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5) skeins of Beacon DK, and the updated sample used Scenic Adventure Beacon DK.
