Sorry to hop on to another comment, but I couldn’t see another way to post an independent comment. I am a bit technically challenged. In the new year I winks love to try hand dyed yarn 🙂

      • Carol January 7, 2019 at 10:57 pm - Reply

I’m with Lynn. I tried to make a sweater only to find out I had to rip it apart and I have to start all over. I need clear explanations on how to get the right fit. Using a different yarn and needles. The one I tried is baggy and I’m still having a difficult time but don’t want to give up. I love knitting! 🧶

      Happy New Year Chandi.

Those colours are beautiful. Fibre wise I will be crocheting pyjamas for my sister’s lurcher, as she is getting older and the British winter’s harsher she is struggling with the cold more. In terms of new things, I am going to be trying some flow art with acrylic paint and old damaged vinyl records to make some clocks and perfect throwing larger pots in my pottery class. It looks like I’m going to need an urn for my eldest dogs ashes before long, and I plan on throwing it myself.

  2. Carie L January 2, 2019 at 7:22 pm - Reply

I knit and crochet, but when I was really young, the local library had a weaving loom that I just loved, and I learned more about the process in my college textile class, but I never took up weaving myself. So my new thing I would like to try and learn this year is weaving. 🙂

Happy new year Chandi! Two months ago I became a first time mom to a gorgeous baby girl. This year I will therefore become a working mom, combining my work as a scientist with being the best possible mom for my little sweetheart. My last two knitting projects reflect this, as I’ve knitted a gorgeous firefly babypaca hat for her (for which I’ve received tons of compliments!) and I’m currently making a cute little kimono cardigan for her in pink and brown from two of your oopsy skeins. In the little free time I have, I enjoy knitting. I am going to try a MKAL. I bought the yarn and pattern. It started January 1st. I have to finish a sweater and wait for the yarn to arrive to start. I have never given up this much control on a project. Kind of scary. I also might be doing 2 projects at once. Also scary for me as I am usually so focused that I can only do one. I have been knitting for almost 30 years. The things I mention may seem easy for most. Not for me.

I am interested in finally learning/doing both knitting and crochet this year, and not letting my health issues getting in the way anymore, even if I only get 1 small part/row/round, ect done per day (maybe week, but preferably day).
As well as to start crocheting amigurumi, which I am a huge fan of! And to hopefully start (and finish?) some amigurumi that I promised as presents over the last few years to my younger brother, a friend of his, my 2nd cousins – who I think of more as nieces and nephew – and especially for my Tia, my great aunt, who turns 100 this April and is doing very well& is very active in her assisted living facility.
And making myself fingerless mitts/gloves which I also love!
And that probably sounds like a lot but these and other hopes have really kept me going through some difficult and unpredictable health issues i’be been dealing with.
    Wow, O.o I kinda babbled a bit didn’t I?
Anyway the yarn is so amazingly beautiful! Whoever gets it is very lucky!

  376. Penny January 3, 2019 at 3:46 pm - Reply

Oh, my! There are so many things on my list that I hardly know where to start…a fair isle sweater that I fell in love with on the cover of Vogue Magazine Fall 2018 issue, a sample afghan that has called my name for more than a year, a lace sweater that is forcing me to learn how to read charts (lots of frogging), socks for my sweet hubby and me, too! Then there is beautiful tweed cardigan than I would love to have but it will take time since it is so much color work, a lace wedding shawl for a friend’s daughter who will marry next year, a shawl or two for me, a blanket to take to the movies as I am always sooooo cold in air conditioning. And now for all those unfinished projects that I wasn’t skilled enough to do yet when I began them, a beaded shawl (done except to bead the entire fringe), a swing coat (has a pleated back and I couldn’t get it to lay flat….paid so much for the yarn that I became fearful that I would ruin it), a beautiful jacket in all mitered squares,,,love to work with wonderful fibers but this would cost me nearly $300! YIKES! I cannot rationalize the money for one piece, In the new year, I will work on fearlessness to tackle a lot of new things that I have never done before, There is no time like the present and the only one stopping me is me….am working on a slight attitude adjustment which will reflect the happiness and joy this art surrounds we with each time I do it….I have come to love a challenge, so bring it on! The colors of your yarn is so inspirational that just looking at the pictures you pair with the yarn makes me smile. I have made several of your patterns and loads more are tucked safely away awaiting the right yarn….the possibilities are endless….thank you for surrounding me with the beauty of your inspiration.

I am starting a common wealth program for my special needs son this year. I have struggled with the thought for so many years, but finally have the courage to do it! He has struggled in school and his IEP team hasn’t known what to do, so the weight of school is much heavier than the home and common wealth school program. I am starting this next semester. New adventure for us, but I know he will thrive with this program and gain more confidence in himself and in learning.

Worked up a couple of dishclothes to get me started. Looking forward to trying some bigger projects just haven’t figured out what direction to go yet. Letting go of the past!! It seems so blasé, I know, but so much has happened in the past 17 years that was “rip my heart out” kind of wrongs done to me, that I literally had to live in survival mode. Now that the younger of the 2 daughters (from my first marriage) just turned 18, I was free to mourn all I lost in those 17 years!! I am married to a WONDERFULLY SUPPORTIVE husband and we have 2 beautiful daughters together!! What more could you ask for? When you live in survival mode for so long, it’s hard to turn the page and live “normally”. (I am anything but normal, LOL) So here’s to a new year and a new me of being able to let go. I tried to make it short, but failed. 😉

I’m interested in learning small ways to earn something financial from my decades of knitting so it would allow me freedom to take a few hours off work. I test knit occasionally in 2018 for the first time, and they pay me in yarn certificates but everything I make I give away. Hosting a small knitting retreat this year for knitters of all abilities, because I love teaching one on one but haven’t been able to take enough time off paid work to volunteer. Hope a day retreat would allow me to gather enough people to pay for the space rent and still teach whoever needs assistance.

I tried Intarsia knitting for the first time last year, and I really want to get better at it this year. I’d like to do another brioche project too. Oh, and I have a reversible 2-color project that I bought the yarn and pattern for without realizing I have NO CLUE how to do it! I guess I have my work cut out for me in 2019. 🙂 Keep doing what makes you happy, Chandi — ‘cuz it makes the rest of us happy too! Happy New Year!!!! <3
