Hello, my sweet friend! I’m so excited to tell you all about our new, free knit pattern. Today’s stunning shawl features a beautiful, all-over honeycomb stitch pattern and a breathtaking color palette. Keep reading to learn about this week’s gorgeous shawl design!
Miella was designed by Donielle Oliver Showvay. When asked about her pattern, Donielle said, “Miella, a variant of the French word for ‘honey,’ is a rectangular shawl made with Honeycomb Stitch and short rows. Indulge in the delicious sweetness of four beautiful Ephemeral Fingering colors plus one contrast color, while recreating the intriguing hexagonal mystery of nature fashioned by the industrious bee. As I was knitting the sample shown, I had some fun researching a little about honey and the many different colors it can have. I was happily surprised to learn that the colors I used represent actual colors of honey!”
This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who have some experience with short rows. The wrap and turn method is used to achieve the unique color changes. Slip stitches are also used to create the hexagonal shapes throughout the piece. This pattern includes written instructions and a schematic and comes with a video tutorial.
Miella is knitted with our Limited Edition Ephemeral Fingering, which is a dreamy, 100% plant-based yarn indulgence (69% Peruvian Pima Cotton and 31% Lyocell) that includes 548 yd/500 m per skein. I had this unique, luxurious fiber blend designed and created especially for you, so you won’t find it anywhere else. This yarn is imbued with a divine drape and an irresistible gleam.
Peruvian Pima Cotton is renowned for its unparalleled softness and breathability, and it possesses an exquisite smoothness that glides effortlessly through your fingers. It’s considered the finest cotton, due to its long staple length, supreme softness, and incredible drape and flow.
A gleaming strand of luminous Lyocell wraps around the cotton in an enchanting embrace and lends structure and sparkle to every stitch. Lyocell is a lightweight and airy fiber that’s derived from wood. It is highly breathable, hypoallergenic, super soft, and shines like silk. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without the softness of this yarn in your life!
The sample shown here was made with colors A) Cambrilla, B) Claire, C) Hannah, D) Avery, and E) Elizabeth. One skein of each color is needed or approximately 1,598 yds/1,461 m total (Color A: 519 yds/568 m, Color B: 312 yds/285 m, Color C: 263 yds/240 m, Color D: 263 yds/240 m, and Color E: 241 yds/220 m).
This yarn base and this year’s colors are Limited Edition. Once they are sold out, they are gone for good, so be sure to purchase all you need for your project.
