Hello, sweet soul! Today, I have a cozy, beginner friendly knit pattern that I know you’ll want to grab and toss on during cold winter days! Keep reading to learn more about this week’s fun, snuggly design!

Briavael was designed by Janica York Carter. When asked about her design, Janica said, “This hooded cowl wraps you in warmth with an attached looped scarf. Offsetting 1 x 1 ribbing every four rows creates a richly textured fabric with minimal effort. This beginner-friendly wearable is worked all in one piece with just two seams to sew. The cowl is long enough to loop it twice around your neck for days when you need extra warmth.”

This Beginner level pattern is for knitters who are ready to combine knit and purl stitches and joining edges to create a wearable piece. This pattern includes written instructions and a schematic.

Briavael is knitted with our scrumptious Buttery Worsted yarn, which is a dreamy soft, 2-ply yarn that’s boingy, bouncy, comfy, cozy, cushy, and cloud-like! It is unbelievably soft and perfect for snuggly blankets, cuddly accessories, sweaters, and other garments. Buttery Worsted is made from 100% Superwash Merino Wool and has 224 yds/205 m per skein.

The sample shown here was knitted with four skeins of Take Chances Buttery Worsted yarn, and used approximately 770 yds/705 m total.

We made a video that showcases all the patterns we released in 2025. Take a look!
