Hello, my little sugarplum! Today, I have a fun treat for you. I have three gorgeous crochet patterns that all feature the same beautiful Interlocking Stitch. Keep reading to learn all about them!
Kulumikiza, Anidando, and Imbrication were designed by Anja Veragten. When asked about her shawl pattern, Anja said, “Kulumikiza is Chichewa (from Malawi) for ‘connecting.’ It means connecting with people, with nature, and with life. This shawl helps me to remember that I’m never alone. Cuddling up in this shawl gives me a warm, protected, and joyful feeling, knowing that I can always reach out to connect with someone.”
When asked about her Anidando and Imbrication patterns, Anja said that connecting with others, offering comfort, and sharing a sense of warmth and compassion with her brother-in-law were her main inspirations for these patterns. Anja wanted to create pieces that could be given as heartfelt gifts and would be perfect for everyone.
All three designs are Adventurous Beginner level patterns and are suitable for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills/concepts include foundation single crochet, single crochet, double crochet, double crochet in previous row, slip stitches, and blocking.
Kulumikiza, Anidando, and Imbrication are all made with our heartwarming Twisted Tweed Sport yarn. It’s a wonderfully soft and bouncy, unique fiber blend that includes two types of wool that are twisted together, which results in a cool, barber pole effect with gold, plum and brown Donegal Tweed neps. This yarn base is both earthy, homey, and charming, as well as hip and modern, and the colors are out of this world! Twisted Tweed Sport is a blend of 43% Superwash Merino Wool, 42% Fine Merino Wool, and 15% Donegal with 384 yds/351 m per skein. I adore this yarn base for super sweet sweaters and snuggly accessories, shawls, blankets, and more!
For Kulumikiza, we used our Hermosa Hues Twisted Tweed Sport Kit. The sample shown used approximately 2304 yds/2106 m total. Almost all the yardage from every skein was used when making the sample. Please ensure your gauge is the same as the designer’s to ensure you do not run out of yarn.
Anidando and Imbrication were made with Raspberry Twisted Tweed Sport. Four skeins total were used to make both designs, with approximately 960 yds/878 m needed for the scarf and 461 yds/421 m needed for the hat.
We made a video showing you how to work the Interlocking Stitch featured in all three patterns. Take a look!
These patterns include written instructions only, as well as photo tutorials.
