Hello, beautiful soul! I’m just tickled to bits that you’re here today because I can’t wait to tell you all about our 2024 Magical Gratitude Box! Are you ready for an energized, transformative experience that will leave you feeling more fulfilled, more satisfied, and more joyful? This is an eight-week experience that includes two stunning patterns, a Knit Along, a Crochet Along, and a secret goody box, all of which will transform your life! During this event, my hope is that you learn to cultivate a joyous knowing that when we find gratitude for this moment, right here, right now, we can completely transform our lives. Gratitude is the magic that unlocks joy, self-expression, and authenticity. Gratitude turns what we have into enough. Each moment is an opportunity for an expansion of joy.

We’re going to be making two amazing, colorful patterns together in a Fall Knit Along and Crochet Along! You can make our lovely Nuanua crochet shawl and/or our gorgeous, new Kamalak knit shawl. Both shawls are inspired by rainbows and feature splashy, juicy colors that are designed to lighten your spirit and spark joy!

The Nuanua and Kamalak patterns were both designed by Janica York Carter. When asked about the inspiration for the Nuanua pattern, Janica said, “Nuanua means ‘rainbow’ in Samoan. The body of this semicircular shawl is crocheted in linen stitch, which is simply alternating single crochet and chain stitches, working the next row’s single crochet stitches into the previous row’s chain spaces. Front post double crochet stitches create vertical stripes across the many colors of horizontal stripes, and colors change only at row ends. Just six increase rows are spaced throughout the body so that you can enjoy playing with colors without worrying about an ever-changing stitch count.”

The Adventurous Beginner level Nuanua pattern is for crocheters who are comfortable with basic stitches and are ready to learn some new skills. Skills/concepts include front post stitches over multiple colors.

When discussing her inspiration for the Kamalak pattern, Janica said, “Kamalak means ‘rainbow’ in the Uzbek language. This semicircular shawl features simple slipped stitches across many colors, creating both vertical and horizontal stripes. The shawl begins with a garter tab at the top center and progresses from simple increases and stockinette stitch to garter stitch and slipped stitches. Colors change only at the end of a row. Just six increase rows are spaced throughout the body so that you can enjoy playing with colors without worrying about an ever-changing stitch count.”

The Adventurous Beginner level Kamalak pattern is for knitters who are comfortable with basic knit stitches and are ready to learn some new skills. Skills/concepts include garter tab cast on, slipped stitches, and basic increases.

Both Nuanua and Kamalak are designed to be made with our shimmery Luster Sport and Luster Sport Mini yarns. Luster Sport is a beautifully shimmering and soft, sport weight yarn that is a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell, a plant fiber that provides the glow of silk without the price. Everyone who sees and feels this yarn base loves it because it has a squish factor that is divine! Shiny and lustrous with next-to-skin softness! (395 yds/361 m per full-size skein or approx. 175 yds/180 m per mini skein).

Both shawls shown here were made with one full-size skein of Sparkling Moment Luster Sport (MC1), one full-size skein of Bright Delight Luster Sport (MC2), and one 12-skein Happiness Hues Luster Sport Mini Kit (CC 1-12). If you wish to make both patterns, you’ll need an extra skein of BOTH Sparkling Moment Luster Sport and Bright Delight Luster Sport. One 12-skein Happiness Hues Luster Sport Mini Kit includes enough yarn to make both shawls, as long as you match the designer’s gauge.
