Hello, my delightful dewdrop! I hope you are having an amazing day! Today, I have a bright and sunny, summery shawl that features gorgeous textures and a lovely gradient fade. I hope you’ll continue reading to learn more about this week’s breathtaking pattern.

Alectrona was designed by Patricia Liefeld. When asked about this shawl, Patricia said, “When I mention that I live in the desert, people think of lots of sand, cactus, tumbleweeds, and boring. But the desert is actually a beautiful place, especially in the early morning. The desert sky comes alive at sunrise. The sun peeks out over the mountains, while the clouds above create beautiful shades of yellow and pink.”

“This shawl, which is inspired by Alectrona, the goddess of sunrise, captures the beauty of our sunrises. As you work, you will hold two strands together. Sometimes it will be two strands of the same color, and sometimes it will be two different color strands, which creates a marled effect. I hope you enjoy my sunrise.”

This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for those crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include bobbles and decrease stitches. The pattern includes written and charted instructions, as well as a schematic.

Alectrona uses our incredibly popular, Limited Edition Blossom Fingering yarn in some of this year’s newest colorways! Blossom Fingering is a perfectly beautiful blend of 50% Bamboo, 30% Merino Wool, and 20% Lyocell that is soft and draping with a subtle shimmer. The Lyocell gives this yarn a subtle glow, and various stitches will reflect the light differently. Blossom Fingering is a gorgeous, fingering weight yarn that’s ideal for multi-seasonal use and is perfect for shawls and wraps, garments, accessories, blankets, baby items, home decor, and more! 402 yards/366 meters per skein.

The sample shown here was made with colors: A) Golden Ray, B) Blooming Tree, C) Renascent, D) Pollination, and E) Bird Feeder. You’ll need one skein of each color. Our sample used approximately 1,760 yds/1609 m total: Color A: 257 yds/235 m, Color B: 402 yds/367 m, Color C: 365 yds/334 m, Color D: 350 yds/320 m, and Color E: 386 yds/353 m.

This yarn base and this year’s colors are Limited Edition. Once they are sold out, they are gone for good, so be sure to purchase all you need for your project.

We filmed a video tutorial showing how to work the special stitches used in this shawl, as well as how to get started with the Magic Circle cast on. Take a look!
