Hello, sweet soul! Our pattern this week is a comfy, flower inspired, knitted cardigan. I hope you’ll read on to learn all about it!

Ibisco was designed by Candy Key. When asked about her cardigan, Candy said, “Ibisco is the Italian word for ‘hibiscus,’ which is a flower that comes in many colors, each with its own symbolism and meaning. Yellow hibiscus is often associated with happiness, sunshine, and good luck, while red hibiscus is a symbol of love and passion. Pink hibiscus symbolizes friendship and all different kinds of love – not just romantic, while purple hibiscus is associated with mystery, knowledge, and the upper class.”

“Similar in style to the Malvarosa and Millefiori sweaters, the Ibisco cardigan is knitted top down with front bands with button closures that are added later and bishop style sleeves. With positive ease that allows for layering, the Ibisco cardigan lays gracefully on your shoulders and down your body, and the length can be adjusted, if desired. Ibisco is knitted with Dewy DK yarn and is so warm! Choose a color you love, and Ibisco will be a favorite for years to come!”

Ibisco is made with our yummy Dewy DK yarn, which is perfect for items you want to treasure for years to come. Dewy DK is a beautiful yarn that’s luscious and supremely soft with a gorgeous drape, amazing structure, and a subtle glow. Squishy, plump, and beloved! Ideal for beginners and amazing for everything from blankets and sweaters to accessories, baby items, household items, and more. You’re gonna love it! This yarn is a blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon, and 10% Silk with 250 yds/320 m per skein.

The sizes are based on actual bust measurements, and the cardigan is offered in sizes (XS–4XL). Ibisco is designed to be worn with 3” (7.5 cm) of positive ease. The sample is shown in size Small and is modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust.

Our sample was made with color Shadow Cat Dahlia Dewy DK. You will need five to eight skeins of Dewy DK depending on the size you select. If you decide to add length, you will need additional yarn. More yardage information is included in the pattern.

This Intermediate to Advanced level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include garment construction, buttonholes, German short rows, and adding stitches throughout a garment.

We filmed a video showcasing three related sweater patterns: Malvarosa, Millefiori, and Ibisco. Have a look!
