Hello, my lil’ snickerdoodle! This week, I have a beautiful circular shawl that is perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your wardrobe. I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about it.

Tempietto was designed by Emma Butram. When asked about this design, Emma said, “Tempietto, or ‘little temple’ in Italian, is the name of a beautiful Renaissance building in Rome designed by Donato Bramante in 1502. It has a rounded dome, lovely columns, and is considered by some to be the epitome of Renaissance architecture because of its balance and harmony.”“This pi shawl features lace patterns that resemble arched colonnades, windows, and vaulted ceilings, which are reminiscent of the features in its namesake’s design. The gradual shift of colors from dark to light also help to bring your gaze ever upwards to the beauty all around us, if we will but look up! The lace patterns are modified from stitches found in Vogue Knitting Stitchionary, vol 5, edited by Carla Scott. I hope you enjoy knitting this pi shawl and that it brings some joy and beauty to your wardrobe.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include reading charts, basic lace stitches, working in the round, basic increases, working a knitted on border with a provisional cast on (using the crochet chain stitch method), and Kitchener stitch.

Tempietto was made with our beautiful Crema Sock yarn. This yarn is a luscious, shimmering, 4-ply sock yarn that is bouncy and long-lasting! It has gorgeous drape, excellent structure, a soft hand, and a subtle glow. Crema Sock is a blend of 75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Mulberry Silk with 350 yds/320 m
per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.

The sample shown here used approximately 1232 yds/1127 m total: Color A: 63 yds/58 m, Color B: 207 yds/189 m, and Color C: 962 yds/880 m. Our sample was knitted in colors: A) Iron, B) Bark, and C) Cordial. You will need one skein each of Colors A and B and three skeins of Color C.
