Hello, my sweet! This week, I have a beautiful sweater that is just perfect for the cool Fall days ahead, and I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about it.

Asteri was designed by Emma Butram. When asked about this design, Emma said, “One of the things my daughters love to do is look at the night sky to see all the stars. Seeing their faces light up with joy as they shout at the top of their lungs, ‘Stars! Stars!’ is something else. So, I thought I would create a lovely colorwork sweater that shows off some ‘starry’ elements.”

Asteri is Greek for ‘star.’ The yoke pattern features a hill where you might look up at the stars. Then some smaller stars, followed by larger stars, and finally a hint of houndstooth, since one of the many constellations is named the ‘greater dog,’ after all. The charts are adapted from Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Vol. 3, ed. by Carla Scott. I hope you enjoy this simple, yet elegant sweater.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include reading a chart, working increases and decreases, stranded colorwork, knitting in the round, and picking up stitches for the sleeves.

Asteri was made using our beautiful Enduring Worsted yarn. This yarn is an incredibly soft, 3-ply yarn that’s ideal for long-wearing projects. It is a blend of 80% Superwash Merino Wool and 20% Nylon with 180 yds/165 m
per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.

The sample shown here was knitted with Timekeeper Enduring Worsted (MC) and Fool’s Gold Enduring Worsted (CC) and is shown in a size Small modeled on a 34″ (86 cm) bust with 2″ (5 cm) of positive ease.

The pattern is offered in sizes XS-3XL, and you’ll need five to seven skeins of the Main Color and one to two skeins of the Contrasting Color, depending on the size you select.

The pattern contains written and charted instructions, and you will need to be able to read a chart to make this sweater.
