(If you’re wondering about the pattern, I just made it up. Here’s the basic pattern:)
Using size K hook and worsted wt wool, ch27.
-Skipping the first 3 Â ch, work 1 trc in each of the 24 remaining ch.
-Ch 3. Work (1 fptrc, 1 bptrc) across. (Front post triple crochet, back post triple crochet… a quick google search will show you how to work these stitches!)
Repeat that row until the cowl measures about 24 inches long and then stitch it closed to the beginning row. Weave in ends.
Voila. Done!

NOTE: In case you’ve missed the update, I’m on vacation until Feb 5th, and although you can still order via the site, I won’t be shipping any orders until I return.

Oh, yeah, and I have this AMAZING new yarn, called MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, but I didn’t even get a chance to tell you because I announced it on facebook (click there to see a sock I’m making with it!) and it sold out within a few hours. BUT, I had the great idea to put it on pre-order for you, so you can get it now and not miss out again. WOO! Oh, yeah, and THANK YOU for almost 20,000 facebook likers. WOO WOO WOO!! I’m blown away.
Anyhoo, I am LOVING the gorgeous color combo and I hope you do too!
Have a sensational day, fellow crafty soul, and nab some time for knitting or crocheting!

I really love that pattern and if I had the money I would buy that lovely
yarn. Being on fixed income, raising 6 children, 9 grands & 16 great grand,
I love to knit & crochet. Just can’t buy all the yarns I fall in love with now.
My daughters who take care of my medical visits really hate my “stash” of
yarn that I have collected!!! Oh well, too bad they don’t enjoy the craft!!!
They do like getting things Mom makes!!! Thanks for the lovely cowl pattern
and the lovely colors of Midsummer Dream yarn!!
Just found your blog and love it!!
Gotta get back to “yarning”… (am 78 and on O2 for 24/7) but enjoy life and
K & C !!!!
Luv ya, Ruthie
Oh, thank you so much!! What a blessing to have so many “offsprings!”
How can we, as your community, help you?
Hi, Ruth – I can SO totally relate to you. I got my own 5 children raised, as well as a few others that had no where else to go, helped with my own 9 grands (raising 3 of them totally for many years), now helping to raise my two great-grands as their mom is sick, and lives with me as well. I, too, am on fixed income, and the rent really takes a huge chunk of it. Cannot afford a car and it is hard to get to the dr with my medical problems. I am in a wheelchair and 24/7 serious pain and I am so very grateful for crocheting to keep my hands occupied and my mind calm. I keep positive and am so thankful that I used to be able to go nuts and get yarns on sale and collect them. My middle daughter still lives with me and works only part-time currently (she was in an accident last year and totaled my car) but she is a good worker and will hopefully be finding a full-time job (and then will move out, leaving me with her oldest daughter and the two great grands that I adore and love taking care of. I raided the boy almost alone for six years, so he is totally mine lol. I am pretty much a shut-in with no phone currently and all my friends and family live at least two or more hours away, and like most of us are either on fixed income or the cost of living is just too high, so I seldom get to chat with them. My youngest son still has the first afghan I crocheted for him when I first learned how and he was maybe 7 years old at the time (he is now 38)
I am 72 and feel so much younger except for the pain. The crochet even helps me forget that. It is always wonderful to find great websites and great people that may become great friends. I enjoy life so much and the pleasure my two littlest ones bring me.
Love you all, Joanne

Those shades of lavender and purple are so rich and delicate, at the same time…takes my breath away. Like Ruthie, I have to budget for my knitting and crafting supplies, but I’m determined to get my hands on some of your yarn in the very near future. Once in awhile, we have to treat ourselves special, too!
You are so right, Cindy. One way or another I am going to have to get some of that gorgeous yarn. And yes, once in a while we have to treat ourselves special, also. I forgot that for awhile and started getting pretty depressed. Then I realized I really do need to spend just a bit on myself as well. And I have been so much happier, returned to my former happy spirits.
Keep smiling!
Hi Chandi,
The cowl is full of fun and looks plenty warm for where I live. I would rock that thing if I had it! I like using post stitchs in a project. Did it take more than one skein?
Your yarn colors are always sooo pretty. I know you hand paint and dye your yarns. As you make them, please list the solids and colorways that would look nice side by side in a project. I can hardly wait to order more… it’s gorgeous!!
Enjoy your vacation and your new “shop” after the flood!
Dear Chiandi, I’m wondering if I can possibly have a pattern for your beautiful rainbow colored shawl on this page. If so, I wouldn’t know how to thank you enough!!! If you can get back to me on this, I would greatly appreciate it! Sarita Morse
I want to enter! I’m already subscribed! It’s a beautiful cowl and can’t wait to see your new yarn!
I really love you work and you tarn is fabulous! I want to win this cowl. I already subscribed!
I am a self-taught crocheter and a very novice knitter. I have learned to admire the beauty of self-dyed and spun yarns, yet have not had the pleasure of creating any myself. These colors are fabulous. I’m always looking for new patterns to try and have been attempting to use my stash of yarn already in my possession. Looking forward to this blog and seeing more of your lovely creations.
Having already been blessed by a gift of your yarn, I can truly say it is amazing, beautiful and so lovely-I received your yarn from my Beautiful Goddaughter Michelle–it was a pure surprise–and 3 days later, my Christa–Granddaughter, surprised me with Rosewood knitting needles and ebony crochet hooks from Lantern Moon–I can honestly say I could have kissed my mailman that week -Keep us all enthralled by your talent–Please have a great, colorful day
Your yarn is absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could buy it all!
I would like to Purchase the yarn for the beautiful rainbow cowl.. Do you still have any left, or are you going to make anymore… I would love to make this cowl..

Just beautiful!
I have just placed my first order for raspberry sherbet worsted yarn. I can’t wait to get it in my hands. I helped to name this color. I know I will love knitting it into something beautiful!! Maybe even for me….we’ll see. That doesn’t happen very often. Oh well, I really enjoy giving hand made gifts to my loved ones.
I think the circle is beautiful. I bet I could make it.
