New CRAZY CHAOS Sock Yarn!

♥ ♥ ♥

“Peace is found in the simplicity of a quiet moment, when all distractions fade and truth reveals itself; that all is well. Deep down, we know…all is well.”

Just a quick post to let you know that, as promised, I am starting to list all the new products in the shop.

First up is my Juicy Bounce Sock Yarn in CRAZY CHAOS:

Sometimes life can feel a little crazy; even chaotic. We have to find those moments of stillness and solitude to recharge, to calm and to make sense of it all.

“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.” -Herman Melville

I hope you’re enjoying your week! I know I am.

I spent Monday making these thank you cards and other goodies to go in your orders, along with a card on how to connect with me. SO!

I thought I’d do a quickie post for you as well on ways for you to connect with me, so you can keep a close tab on […]

Glorious Rainbow Shades of Yarn, Roving and Fleeces

♥ ♥ ♥

“Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” -Harvey MacKay

To try and tell you how much I love to dye wool would be impossible. I think I like it more than knitting. GASP! Did I just say that? It’s a maybe. Tough call.

It’s so fun! Instant gratification. Vibrant shades appearing before my eyes. I love it!

So Sunday I spent 13 hours dyeing up wool and alpaca fleeces (sheared right off the animals and shipped to me), wool rovings (I’ve got some Corriedale, Perendale and mystery wools so far), and […]

Men’s Reversible Ribbed Crochet Scarf

♥ ♥ ♥

“For true love is inexhaustible; the more you give, the more you have…” -Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I hope you enjoyed your weekend! I wanted to show you this luscious, manly scarf I crocheted up for my fella for Valentine’s. It’s another Reversible Ribbed Crochet Scarf: pattern shown here in a previous post.

The contrasting colors look really poppin’! He seemed to like it! Hurray for a fella that acts delighted over handmade gifts!

I used Cascade 220 in a light gray and then some Malabrigo Merino/Silk Worsted in a deeper, charcoal gray.

Why I Love Knitting

♥ ♥ ♥

“Of all the earthly music, that which reaches farthest into heaven is the beating of a truly loving heart.”
~Henry Ward Beecher~

As it’s the day to celebrate love, and this is a knitting blog, I wanted to share with you the reasons I love knitting. But first, a story of how I came to knit…

I was driving along one day with my mom and sis and saw the neatest little yarn shop with such a cute window display. Although I had crocheted since I was 9, I had never successfully learned to knit. I had always wanted to, but […]

New Yarn Spinning Project Underway

♥ ♥ ♥

“Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.”

My latest spinning project is under way!

I began with this gorgeous roving I purchased a while back from Fat Cat Knits (she has gorgeous rovings!):

Color: Buster
Roving: Falkland
Spun using the short-draw method (I normally use long-draw, but wanted to see if this method created a smoother yarn. It did somewhat, but I didn’t stress over getting it perfectly even.

I divided the roving in half lengthwise and wound into 2 “even” balls:

I spun each […]

“A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren’t we like that wise old bird?” – Author Unknown

As you’ll recall from this post, while out on a bike ride last summer, I found some Alaskan Mystery Wool. I still have no idea what it is, but perhaps wolf? (It smelled like dog when I washed and blocked it).

I spun it into a lace-weight single yarn and crocheted a basic rectangle with double crochets, and then went around the […]

New! Reversible Ribbed Crocheted Scarf Pattern

Here is another cool pattern for ya! It’s easy. It’s quick. And yet eye-catching. Perfect!

I stood by my dad’s wood pile and just loved it as a backdrop:

So, as promised in the previous post showing off my gorgeous hand-spun yarn process, here is the super cool, funky and awesome crocheted scarf pattern! I promise it is quite easy and even a beginner can do it. I really adore patterns that look really neat but are very simple and almost mindless. My favorite! So let’s get started.
