Hello, gorgeous!
Today, we have a delightful, knitted color pool cowl pattern for you!
Geode Knit Color Pool Cowl by Jane Vanselous. Geode plays with texture as well as color and creates a unique piece each time! When Jane came to me with this idea, I admit I was pretty mind-blown. It’s so gorgeous and such a unique concept.
This project uses yarn with long color bands in the color repeat to produce this cool effect – you can use nearly any yarn weight you choose. We used our Pearlescent fingering weight in the gorgeous June Alexandrite colorway. If that is out of stock, just email us to request it.
Have a watch! We have filmed a video tutorial for you. I show you how to get setup properly with this pattern.
I hope you enjoy this fun “recipe” and playing with texture and color pooling!
The color pooling combined with the change in the type of stitch is such a great concept! I love it! 🙂
Thank you for this! Quick question, when you go to cast on your final amount, do you have to pay attention to starting the cast on on a full two repeat of the skein since the number is doubled? My number to CO is 200.
Amanda, not necessary, but great question!
I’m working on this now and my colors are twisting more than pooling. As in, they seem to be going in a spiral pattern rather than what is shown. I’m certain I counted correctly. Ugh!! It’s still beautiful, but not like the example. What am I doing wrong?
It might just be a slight change in gauge after starting – I’d reach out to the designer, though, should you have any further questions. Thank you so much!
Can this concept be used to make other things?
It sure could!
Hi, would CHIAOGOO CIRCULAR NEEDLES | 32″ LONG – 4.5 MM work for this project or should I buy 24″ pair?
You could use 32″ but you would have to use the magic loop method. Hope this helps. ☺️
