Hello, my sweet! Today, I have a beautiful, lacy shawl that’s inspired by scenic upstate New York. Keep reading to learn all about this week’s gorgeous knit pattern!
Peconic was designed by Erica Jackofsky. When asked about her debut pattern for Expression Fiber Arts, Erica said, “Peconic is a traditional triangle shawl that’s worked from the center wingspan outward by increasing four stitches on every right-side row. The right-side-only patterning keeps the project moving along quickly. The Luster Sport yarn colors used in this design are reminiscent of the sea and sand of Long Island’s east end for which this shawl is named.”
This is an Intermediate level pattern that is perfect for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include decreases, yarn overs, chart reading, and single-sided lace.
Peconic is knitted with our Scintillating Hues Luster Sport Mini Kit [approx. 175 yds/160 m per skein (875 yds/800 m per 5 – skein kit)]. Our beautifully shimmering and soft Luster Sport yarn is the perfect choice for this scrumptious shawl. Once you’ve worked with Luster Sport, you’re going to fall head over heels in love with its yummy, squishy goodness! Luster Sport is a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell, a plant fiber that provides the glow of silk without the price, and the shine is out-of-this-world stunning! Luster Sport has 395 yds/361 m per full-sized skein, and our Luster Sport Mini yarn has approximately 175 yds/160 m per 50-gram skein.
The sample shown here used approximately 835 yds/764 m total: Color A: 160 yds/146 m, Color B: 170 yds/155 m, Color C: 170 yds/155 m, Color D: 170 yds/155 m, and Color E: 165 yds/151 m. In our sample, the colors were worked in the following order: A) Dark Blue, B) Light Blue, C) Green, D) Dark Gold, and E) Light Gold.
We made a video tutorial showing how to work the Garter Tab cast on and read the chart. Take a look!
This pattern includes written and charted instructions.

I would use the gradient colors of this Halloweens colors. 2025.
Adore the ocean colors, I live at the beach in Delaware. I am trying to learn to knit…not going well thus far, but I will keep working.
Meanwhile, I would love a crochet version 😉
