Hello, my sweet sunbeam! This week, I have a light and lacy pullover with 3/4 length sleeves that is just perfect for Spring! I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about this stunning pattern.

Aravis was designed by Emma Butram. When asked about this design, Emma said, “Aravis is the name of a character from one of C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia books called The Horse and His Boy. She is described as being both feminine and practical – someone who enjoys outdoor activities and sports, but always dresses nicely for them. I came up with this sweater idea, which blends the femininity of lace with a practical shape that you can wear on many occasions.” “The construction is seamless and is knit top-down in the round. You can easily adjust the length of the body and sleeves by adding or subtracting the number of repeats of the lace pattern, which is based on a stitch from 50 Fabulous Knitted Lace Stitches by Rita Weiss. I hope you enjoy making this sweater and that it adds a touch of pizzazz to your wardrobe!”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include reading a pattern, working in the round, picking up stitches, making increases and decreases, and knitting simple lace from a chart or written instructions.

Aravis is made with our delightful Crema Sock yarn, which is a luscious, shimmering, 4-ply sock yarn that is bouncy and long-lasting! It is a blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool and 30% Mulberry Silk with gorgeous drape, excellent structure, a soft hand, and a subtle glow. Crema Sock is a dreamy yarn that takes the dye incredibly well, which results in fabulous, hand-dyed shades! 350 yds/320 m per skein.

The sample shown here was knitted with colors A) Allegory and B) Abandoned Crema Sock. The pattern is offered in sizes XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL), and you’ll need four to six skeins of Crema Sock yarn, depending on the size you select. If you wish to make the body or the sleeves longer, you will need additional yardage. The version shown here is a size S, modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust with 2” (5 cm) of positive ease.

The pattern contains written and charted instructions, and you will need to be able to read a chart to make this sweater.

We made a video tutorial showing how to knit the lace potion of this top. Take a look!
