Hello, my dazzling ray of sunshine! This week, I have a wonderful treat to share with you. It is a river inspired, crochet shawl called Núverandi, and I’d be pleased to tell you more about it!
Núverandi was designed by Tatha Lorenzen. When asked about her debut design, Tatha said, “Núverandi is the Icelandic word for current or present. The rippling, alternating, icy waves of this shawl are also reminiscent of water currents. Together, they remind me to take the time to be present in and mindful of the currents of my life.”
“While working this pattern, crocheters can practice varying stitch heights from single to triple crochets. Half double crochets in the third loop on specific wrong side rows create texture and a sense of overlapping waves. At an extra long 105 inches, Núverandi has yards of dramatic effect, which allows for a wide variety of wearability, from a simple wrapped shawl to multiple cowl, scarf, or hood drapes. If you prefer a shorter shawl, stitch multiples are included for easy customization. I hope you enjoy the results!”
This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for those crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include double crochet, half double crochet, half double crochet in the third loop, and treble crochet.
Our CashSilk Sock yarn is perfect for this shawl. This yarn is a gorgeous, dreamy soft, luxurious sock yarn that’s warm, cuddly, squishy, and strong with the tiniest hint of glow. It is made with 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk.
