Hello, my sparkling diamond! This year we are going to be doing a yearlong Mystery Knit Along blanket. Read on to learn more and find out how you can join in on the fun!
Perseverance was designed by Jane Vanselous. She says, “Large projects can seem daunting, especially when they may stretch your skills. Breaking them up into manageable pieces is a great way to approach them. In this Mystery KAL blanket, you will work just one section at a time. Each section uses one color and focuses on one stitch pattern. Some of these will be repeated in later sections. Using this method, all you will need is a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a little perseverance to be successful!”
This pattern is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern and is for those knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations.
Perseverance is made with 12 skeins of our Enduring Worsted yarn. We will have two color options for each month – a cool color and a warm color.
For January, the cool color is Unshaken, and the warm color is Time Traveler. However, you can make your blanket with any colors you choose. Please note, swatching is important to ensure that your blanket edges are even and that you have enough yardage to complete your monthly section, as you should only need one skein per clue.
Every month, we will release a new clue to the pattern, so all you have to do is sign in and re-download the pattern each month a new clue is released.
We filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how to work the first few rows of this clue. Take a look:
We will also be having a yearlong contest for this pattern with prizes! It will be hosted solely on Ravelry.

I hope you’ll join us to get in on all the fun!

I am so excited!!!! A year long KAL! I am going to love telling my husband that I have to buy yarn every month for a year. Maybe he won’t notice and it will be a 2023 Surprise!! It will all work out this is going to be the BEST YEAR EVER!!!! I can’t wait to get my yarn and get started!!
I was very much hoping to do this project with you all. This seems so wonderful and the timing was so great. My mom all of a sudden took a turn for the worst and this would’ve been the perfect present for her before this happened. Right now I don’t have any time to do the project but I am hoping that I will still be able to get the pattern when each piece comes out so I can make it for her later. I love admire and respect what you guys do so much please let me know if you’re ever hiring… it would be a dream come true. stay safe and stay happy
Take care of yourself, Alyson, and your mom. Yes, please feel free to download each month’s clue for free, so you can make it when things calm down a bit. Sending you a big hug!
Warte ganz gespannt auf den zweiten Teil.
Könnt ihr mir sagen, wann der erscheint?
Liebe Grüße Marianne
We haven’t decided when the second clue will be released yet. We want to make sure we have enough yarn to support it. Thanks.
OK… I’ve tried to gauge from a size 8 needle, all the way to a 10.5 needle and it seems I still have to go up another needle size or more. Am I doing something wrong? I noticed in the instructions it says to do a garter stitch but typically patterns tell you to do a swatch in stockinette. Am I supposed to stretch the swatch, since garter stitch is stretchy, and measure it stretched out? Please help! Thanks
Be sure to check your gauge against the individual gauges listed for each section of the pattern, as well. For section one, this is at the top of page 6. That will give you a better idea of how your gauge compares to the designer’s. You’ll need to do this for each section. We do advise that you keep your swatch, as some sections use an entire skein of Enduring Worsted. I hope that helps.
I just received my yarn and I can’t wait to start! Already it looks wonderful!
Hello! I just received my January and February colors today, and am very excited to start knitting! Do you have a date of when you will be offering the March and April colors? Is there a date when Clue 2 will be released?
Thank you
Julia
Clue 2 for both the MKAL and MCAL will be released towards the end of February. The recommended colors for March and April won’t be announced until their respective months.
Hi all section is supposé to be one skein of yarn? if there is any wool left did we change for the other color?
Each section (or monthly clue) will use just one skein of yarn. When you move onto the next section, you’ll change colors.
We’ve reached the middle of the February and I haven’t seen any updates on the second clue being released. Did I miss it? Am I looking in the wrong place?
No, you haven’t missed it. Both the MCAL and MKAL clue #2 are releasing towards the end of February. We’ll have a post here, in our email newsletter, and on social media.
Think I have missed clue #2. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks
Clue 2 for both the MCAl and MKAL haven’t yet been released but will be towards the end of this month. We’ll post about it here on the blog, as well as in the email newsletter and on social media.
I cannot wait for clue 2. I may burst from anticipation if it takes much longer lol!
Someone mentioned having the February colors of yarn already. Did I miss it? I know the clue isn’t out yet but is the yarn available for order or pre order? I’m a new knitter and this is stretching my knitting ability but it’s super fun! Thanks.
Brenda, we did share what the recommended colors for clue 2 will be in the full product description for the first clue. If you go to: https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/perseverance-mkal-blanket.html and scroll down, you’ll see those listed. Nightlife is the cool color and New York at Night is the warm color. They are currently available for preorder if you want to put an order in. And clue 2 will be out very soon.
