Vatu Talei was designed by Sharon Welch. When asked about her inspiration for this pattern, she said, “Vatu Talei (pronounced Va-too Tal-a) in the Fijian language means jewel or precious stone. That is exactly what this shlanket showcases, which is Chandi’s absolutely gorgeous Birthstones Collection in my favorite yarn base Crema Sock. This design is like opening your grandmother’s jewelry box, where all the gems and precious stones she collected through the decades dazzle, as you remember the significance and story behind each one. It’s truly a treasure.”

This is an Intermediate level pattern that is suitable for crocheters who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include working in the round, using special stitches, placing beads, blocking and finishing skills. The pattern includes written instructions, a photo tutorial, and schematics and comes with a video tutorial. Vatu Talei is crocheted with our luxurious Crema Sock yarn, which is a dreamy blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool and 30% Mulberry Silk. This base takes the dye incredibly well, which results in fabulous, hand-dyed shades. Crema Sock is a 4-ply yarn that is bouncy and long-lasting, as well as soft and squishy with 350 yds/320 m per skein.
