Hello, beautiful soul! Today, I have a gorgeous, elegant knitted shawl pattern for you, and I think you’re going to love making this cozy, romantic design. Keep reading to learn all about this stunning, new shawl!
Felicity was designed by Jane Vanselous. When asked about her pattern, Jane said, “Sometimes when situations around us seem bleak or those around us are negative, it can be easy to lose our joy. Although masked, it is still there inside of us. In times like this, it can be helpful to shut out the noise and reach deep within, remembering the things that make you truly happy. It may be people that make you laugh, an activity that nourishes your soul, or a particularly fond memory. Whatever it is, allow it to shift your focus, restoring your radiance.”
“The Felicity shawl is based on a two-stitch, six-row repeating pattern. On the right side, one color dominates, while the second color peeks out from beneath. By simply reversing the yarn colors used in each row, the second color becomes the dominant one. Construction begins at the narrow end, gradually increases to the full width of the shawl, and finishes off with a section of single color ribbing.”
This is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern that is perfect for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills/concepts include dropped stitches, basic lace, color changes, and blocking techniques. The pattern includes written instructions, as well as a schematic, and comes with a video tutorial.
Felicity is knitted with both our Buttery Worsted and Pearlescent Worsted yarns. Our scrumptious Buttery Worsted yarn is a dreamy soft, 2-ply yarn that’s boingy, bouncy, comfy, cozy, cushy, and cloud-like! It is unbelievably soft and perfect for snuggly blankets, cuddly accessories, sweaters, and other garments. Buttery Worsted is made from 100% Superwash Merino Wool and has 224 yds/205 m per skein.
Our luscious Pearlescent Worsted yarn is shimmering, heavenly, and wildly popular! It’s a delicious, glowing blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Mulberry Silk that’s luxurious, soft, and gleaming and has 220 yds/201 m per skein. When you combine these fibers into a single-ply yarn, you get subtle differences in tone, as the wool and silk take the dye differently. The colors truly appear to be iridescent!
The sample shown here was knitted with our Night Sailing Hues 4-Skein Kit, which includes two skeins of Inky Indigo Buttery Worsted (Color A) and two skeins of Stargaze Pearlescent Worsted (Color B) and used approximately 840 yds/768 m total (Color A: 425 yds/389 m and Color B: 415 yds/379 m).
