Hello, my lil’ snickerdoodle! This week, I have a fun, summery crochet top with a boho vibe to tell you about and two different color options to share with you, too. Banda is perfect for warm, sunny days, and I hope you’ll keep reading to learn all about it.
Banda was designed by Elisabeth Carr. When asked about this pattern, Elisabeth said, “Banda is a tee that is made entirely in the beautiful Catherine’s Wheel stitch. Simple chains, single crochets, and double crochets work together to form wheels in a lovely, striping pattern. These simple stitches make this a perfect project for the beginner who is looking to expand their handmade wardrobe. The loose, flowy stitches mean this tee can be worn any time of year, including summer.”This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills/concepts include single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, cluster stitches, carrying yarn up the side, and whip stitching panels together.
Banda is designed to be crocheted with our luxurious Crema Sock yarn, which is a luscious, shimmering, 4-ply sock yarn that is bouncy and long-lasting! With gorgeous drape, excellent structure, a soft hand, and a subtle glow, this yarn is lovely for socks, shawls, sweaters, accessories, blankets, baby items, and so much more! It is a dreamy yarn that takes the dye incredibly well, which results in fabulous, hand-dyed shades! This yarn is made from a blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool and 30% Mulberry Silk with 350 yds/320 m per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.
The first sample shown here was crocheted with our Library Hues Crema Sock Kit, and the second version was made with our Parrot Hues Crema Sock Kit. Both samples are shown in a size Small modeled on a 34″ (86 cm) bust with 3″ (8 cm) of positive ease.
The pattern is offered in sizes XS – 3XL, which correspond to natural bust sizes of 30 (34, 38, 42) (46, 50, 54)“. The finished top will have 3”- 6” of positive ease. For all sizes, you’ll need four skeins of Crema Sock yarn to make the pattern as shown. However, you may need additional yarn if you choose to adjust the pattern or if your gauge is not the same as the designer’s gauge.
We made a video tutorial demonstrating how to work the Catherine’s Wheel stitch. Take a look!
The pattern contains written and charted instructions and includes a schematic.
