Hello, sunshine! Today, I have a refreshed version of our incredibly popular, knitted Fennmont sweater to share with you. I hope you’ll keep reading to learn all about it.

Fennmont was originally designed by Emily Walton and has been updated by the EFA design team with help from our lovely pattern testers. When asked about this pattern, Emily said, “Fennmont is one of those sweaters that’s all about the process: the process of knitting a top-down, yoked sweater, of enjoying the feel of a luxury yarn in your hands, of watching the subtle color shifts as you work your way through a color gradient. A simple texture pattern keeps things interesting without getting in the way of the color play. Treat yourself to a fun, new apparel piece this spring, and enjoy the time spent working on it. You might even find yourself knitting more than one!”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Concepts include provisional cast on, increasing stitches, color changes, and short row shaping.

Fennmont is offered in sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL), which correspond to bust sizes: 32″ (36″, 40″, 44″, 48″) (52″, 56″, 60″, 64″) / 81 (91, 102, 112, 122) (132, 142, 152, 163) cm. The sweater is intended to be worn with 0-2″/0-5 cm of positive ease.

The updated version of Fennmont was made with our squishy, bouncy Buttery Sport yarn. What’s not to love about this super soft, lush, and cuddly sport weight yarn that’s also machine washable? Made from 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool, this two-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches. No itchiness or scratchiness here! Use this fun and boingy yarn to make dreamy, supple projects that work up quickly. Buttery Sport has 300 yds/274 m per delightful skein.

The sample shown here was knitted with colors: A) Rake, B) Jacket, and C) Auspice Buttery Sport. You’ll need approximately 825 (977, 1146, 1353, 1520) (1691, 1830, 1956, 2091) yds / 755 (894, 1048, 1238, 1390) (1547, 1674, 1789, 1912) m total to knit the updated version of Fennmont, depending on the size you select. Refer to the table on page 6 for the number of skeins needed for your size.

We filmed a video tutorial showing how to make the provisional cast on, how to separate the sleeves from the body, and how to work the knitted cast-on method used in this pattern. Take a look!
