Hello, my sweet sunbeam! Today, I have an oversized, flowing, knitted shawl pattern to tell you about, and this beautiful design features a gorgeous spin stitch technique, which is so fun! I hope you’ll keep reading to learn all about it.

Frisson was designed by Hayley Campbell. When asked about her debut pattern, Hayley said, “Frisson is a shiver of pleasure brought on by strong emotions like fear, excitement, or anticipation. It’s the kind of emotional thrill that gives you goosebumps or sends a chill down your spine. When I prepare to travel, start a new chapter in my life, or begin a journey of personal growth, I always get this feeling as I step into the unknown. It’s an intense blend of excitement and anxiety that stirs my soul and makes me eager for the adventure. This pattern is designed to embody that electrifying experience.”

This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include knitting with a third needle, color changes, and spin stitches.

Frisson was made with our sumptuous Pearlescent Fingering yarn, which is a stunning, single-ply, luxury blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Mulberry Silk. A dreamy, creamy yarn that is ideal for shawls and scarves, as well as other accessories and even sweaters! So amazingly soft with a lovely drape and a subtle shimmer from the silk! The colors truly appear to be iridescent and otherworldly! (550 yds/503 m per 4 oz/113 g skein).

The sample shown here was knitted in our Dwelling Hues Pearlescent Fingering Kit and used approximately 1,739 yds/1,590 m total: Color A: 418 yds/382 m, Color B: 457 yds/418 m, Color C: 424 yds/388 m, and Color D: 440 yds/402 m.

We filmed a video showing how to work the twisted stitches featured in this pattern. I hope you’ll take a look!
