Hello, my dazzling diamond! We are starting this month with a lovely treat for all you knitters. It’s a new, adventurous beginner level knitted shawl pattern called Dashael, and I hope you love it! But that’s not all! This pattern features our scrumptious, Limited Edition North DK yarn in this year’s brand new colors!
Dashael was designed by Emily O’Dell. When asked about her debut pattern, Emily said, “Dashael is a triangular shawl that uses knits, purls, slip stitches, yarn overs, psso’s (pass slip stitch over), and simple kfb increases. The name was inspired by my husband’s Irish heritage and the dashes within the body of the shawl. I chose this particular yarn for its softness and bold colors, as it really shows each stitch in exquisite detail.“
I just love, love, LOVE the Baby Eyelet Cable stitch that you see throughout this pattern, and the mix of textures is just so delightful!
The sample shown here was knitted with our Limited Edition North DK yarn, which is a soft, gentle, flexible yarn that feels amazing on your skin and has a lovely bounce! Our North DK is a blend of 66% Extra Fine Merino Wool and 34% Pima Cotton with 264 yards (241 meters) per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.
The sample shown used approximately 1249 yds/1142 m total: Color A: 246 yds/225 m, Color B: 256 yds/234 m, Color C: 251 yds/230 m, Color D: 244 yds/223 m, and Color E: 252 yds/230 m. For our sample, we used one skein each of five colors: A) Winter Cabin, B) Sledding, C) Vancouver, D) Slopes, and E) Snowy Fields.
This yarn and these colors are Limited Edition. Please order enough to complete your project because once they are gone, they’re gone for good!
We filmed a video tutorial showing how to work the kfb, pfb, and Baby Eyelet Cable stitches. It’s easier than you think! Take a look!
We truly hope you love knitting this shawl in whatever colors you choose. Let me know in the comments below what color combination you picked!

I’m so thankful for Jesus. He brought me healing after our only child passed in 2001. It took many years to find His comfort. TYJ!
I’m so thankful for learning knitting thru YouTube. Thank you EFA for the scrumptious yarn and free Friday patterns. As a geriatric patient on only SSI it’s so nice to find a place where “freebies” are still given in this current “greedy” culture. I know Pearl Soho does the same program but EFA is in nearby Charlotte, NC. Also, EFA owner is from Alaska, a state of great beauty.
Thanks Chandi for this year of beautiful knitting.
I am so grateful for my loving family and the time when I was raised in safety and with my dear friends. Still have them after 65 years of crazy mistakes and forgiveness. life is good! Thank you God!!!
Life has not been an easy journey for me. I have seen, and lived through more trauma than any one woman should.
I have navigated the bad times by myself. Of course, that was only possible after accepting Jesus to be my truth, way and life.
Working with yarn is the very last thing I give up before depression takes my breath away. I think it is God’s way of showing me that I can have beauty in my surroundings, even if I make it myself. I feel so very blessed to be given a talent to create beauty. No one can steal the joy it brings me. Yarn is a comfort. Each project is another chance to start afresh. This pattern is the first in many years to spark the desire to start knitting again. I feel that now is the time I feel ready to slow down and enjoy the experience. The colorway is so soothing and delightful.
Finding you and your yarn was been a life changer along with finding out I can still knit after gaving a stroke in 2020.
I thought knitting was lost to me forever. So much so, I gave away my late mom’s stash and our knitting needles and supplies. I can’t drive anymore and reading is more than a chore, as I lost my central vision due to the stroke. Losing one’s independence, ability to do their job and so many other things and crafts is beyond frustrating it was soul crashing.
With the help of stitch markers and other tools, I have been given back knitting and your beautiful yarn has transformed my work in to things of amazing beauty. Thank you for your creativity in these amazing yarn work.
