Hello, my dazzling diamond! This week, I have a lovely treat to share with you. It is a flower inspired crochet shawl called Cassia, and I hope you love making it!

Cassia was designed by Marlene McKinney. When asked about her debut design for us, she said, “The Cassia Wrap is a design inspired by the beautiful colors of the Red Cassia, a plant native to South Asia. The lacy Star Flower stitch was chosen to emulate the floral qualities of the plant. This pattern uses DK weight yarn and is best crocheted using a luscious, jewel-toned yarn.”

Cassia is an Adventurous Beginner level crochet pattern. It is perfect for those crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches and techniques include lace stitches, working into slip stitches, and treble crochet stitches.

Our Dewy DK yarn is a delightful choice for this shawl. This beloved yarn is squishy and plump. It is ideal for beginners and is made with 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon, and 10% Silk.

The sample shown here used 4 skeins of our Dewy DK yarn and is shown in our Oxblood colorway.

The shawl measures 60″ x 20″ (152.4 cm x 50.8 cm) after blocking, excluding Cassia stitches. The sample shown used 840 yards (768 meters) total. The design is customizable, but may require additional yardage.

We made a video demonstrating how to make this pattern. Take a look, and follow along as I crochet a little, mini version of this shawl!
