Hello, my sweet, sweet pea! This week, I have a special treat to share with you. It is a lovely crochet shawl called Pluie Calme, and we’re sharing two different versions of it! Read on to learn more!

Pluie Calme was designed by Wardah Mdh. When asked about her debut design for us, she said, “As I worked this shawl, a light rain tapped against the windows of my home. It was such a calming sound, that I decided to name this shawl Pluie Calme. In French, it means “calm rain.” Later, it reminded me of the warmth I enjoyed while wearing this shawl on a cold, rainy day.

This pattern is a soothing and fun design. The repeating rows are easy and relaxing, and once you get through a few repetitions of the 2-row repeat, it’s very calming and meditative. Quite rhythmic, really. Then you get short breaks in the form of transitions that keep it from becoming boring. I hope that when you wear this shawl, you too are filled with calmness and warmth.”

Pluie Calme is an Adventurous Beginner level crochet pattern. It is perfect for those crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches and techniques include Foundation Single Crochet, Stacked Single Crochet, shell stitches, and color changes.

Our Pearlescent Fingering yarn is the perfect choice for this shawl. The 50/50 mix of Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk gives this yarn remarkable softness, wonderful drape, and incredible sheen.

The samples are shown in two versions.

Small Version: 13” x 74″ (34 x 188 cm): 2 skeins of Fool’s Gold. The sample used 906 yds (829 m) total.

Large Version: 29” x 72” (74 x 183 cm): Passionate Hues Kit. This sample used approximately 1,572 yards (1438 m) total: Color A) Orange – 516 yds (472 m), Color B) Red – 540 yds (494 m), and Color C) Wine – 516 yds (472 m).

The design is customizable, but may require additional yardage.

We made a video demonstrating how to make this pattern. Take a look, and follow along as I make a mini version of this shawl!
