Hello, my sweet ray of sunshine! This week, I want to share with you a classic and elegant, knitted shawl called Cable Wings. Read on to learn more about this lovely design!

Cable Wings was designed by CheVon Bell. When asked about the pattern, she said, “I just love knitting top-down, triangle shawls — particularly ones that begin with a garter tab. I like how you begin with so few stitches and end with so many. As I was finishing up my work on the Rudaba pattern, I had the idea to take the single cable used in that shawl design and spread it over an entire shawl. Thus, Cable Wings was born.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. You will need to know how to cable and do an i-cord bind off. You will also need to know how to read a chart and continue with a pattern beyond the chart itself.

This pattern uses our shimmering and soft Luster Sport yarn. This is a soft and luxurious, sport weight yarn with a gorgeous drape, a beautiful glow, supreme squishiness, and great stitch definition. It is made with 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell.

The sample shawl was made with our Coraline Hues kit. Our sample used approximately 610 yds (558 m) total [Color A: 70 yds (64 m), Color B: 120 yds (110 m), Color C: 200 yds (183 m), and Color D: 220 yds (202 m)].

The pattern is easily adaptable, but may require additional yardage.

We filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how to knit Cable Wings. We’ll be making a mini version together if you follow along! Take a look:

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions.
