Hey, beautiful soul! I hope you are doing sooo sooo well today. I decided to knit a cropped, puffy sleeve version of our Creery sweater pattern and I am in love!
What do you think of my new version? Read on to hear more about it and the changes I made to make this pattern mine.
The original pattern which you can see here has fitted sleeves but I wanted mine slightly puffy. So I just picked up stitches for the sleeves as instructed in the pattern but then just knit straight! No decreasing. When they were nearly long enough, I decreased rapidly over 2 rows, down to the size of my wrist and then worked 1×1 ribbing to finish off the cuffs. So easy.
Creery is for the beginner to adventurous beginner knitter who is ready to knit their very first sweater! Or if you’re more advanced, you can make it too and alter it as you wish.
This pattern tutorial includes a full video course showing you how to knit this sweater from start to finish. So, even if you are a beginner, it’s like I’m right there holding your hand as you go along.
If you’ll notice, I cropped the sweater too to accommodate my shorter torso. It’s also super cute to wear cropped sweaters over dresses!
I just knit the body of the sweater until I thought it was long enough. Then, I tried it on (just use a long enough circular needle as you knit or slip the stitches onto waste yarn). Yep! It was just right. Then, I finished up with some ribbing. Easy peasy!
This top has seriously become a winter, spring and fall wardrobe staple because of how cute it is. I can pair it with jeans, or with a cute skirt for warmer days. I wear it over another shirt on the days that are cooler, and then I stay toasty warm.
Our Buttery Bulky is a boingy, bouncy, comfy, cozy, cuddly, cushy, cloud-like bulky weight yarn! It is made with 100% superwash superfine merino wool and there are 120 yards per 3.5 oz skein. This yarn works up super-duper quick! So you can make a sweater in just a few days!
The sweater I made is worked in our Rose Gold color, and I used 4 skeins to make my version.
Since this sweater is knit in our bulky weight yarn it works up quickly.
Wouldn’t it be a gorgeous gift too? Seriously, this sweater pattern is unisex, and can be easily adapted to fit your special someone.
Download the pattern here (you’ll find the full video course linked within the PDF after download) if you’d love to learn to knit your own first sweater.
We hope you enjoy it! Check out others’ versions here on Ravelry as well.
Have a marvelous day and I’ll talk to you soon. xoxo

This is beautiful
Hi Chandi! Your sweater is so cute! I love the puffy sleeves and want to do mine with them. When you say you decreased rapidly in two rows, does that mean you worked decreases evenly spaced around, instead of two close together on the inside, as written?
I can’t wait to try this, my first sweater. Mine will be three colors, lightest to darkest and fading one color into the next. I hope it looks great as the colors are beautiful. Thank you for the discount on pattern and yarn. 🥰❤️
Yes, I don’t remember exactly but I worked something like K, k2tog, K, k2tog, etc, all the way around!
Hi Chandi. I have already made 2 Creery sweaters. I want to make one cropped like this. Can you tell me how many inches yours is from the underarm to the beginning of the ribbing? It looks like it would fit me perfect. Also is it possible to make this with your Luster Worsted? I have 5 skeins in Rose Gold that i bought a few months ago, i would love to make a sweater with it. Thanks !
Love it! This is one is 6 inches from the underarm to the ribbing. I could do it in Luster Worsted, but you will probably have to hold it double. 💕
Any advise for anyone wanting to try another stitch, it garter or moss stitch?
Sure! I would just do a gauge swatch, test how flexible it is. If you love it, continue on. 💕
I purchased the course awhile ago. But I haven’t gotten around to it yet. So glad I waited as I love this version with the puffy sleeves! Buttery Bulky is so soft and squishy! Thank you for the instructions for puffy sleeves! This rose gold looks gorgeous on you!
I’d love to make this with the pearlescent fingering I bought “Mysa” it would be stunning! I’ll read more on this patter on the site thanks for sharing
