Hello, my darling blossom! We have a new crochet pattern for you this week, and with it we have a video packed with tips and tricks to help you achieve amazing success when crocheting this beautiful beginner shawl!
Quietude is a beautiful adventurous beginner level shawl pattern that features different color blocks and motifs. It is reversible, so both sides look amazing!
When life seems difficult, I find great solace in working with my hands. It’s comforting to be able to sit by myself and do something that I enjoy, while also creating something beautiful.
This is just the sort of crochet project that I turn to. The stitches in this crochet design are not difficult to work and the repeats are short and easy to remember, without becoming boring. Each color block is relatively short, providing easily attainable goals. Combining those aspects of the design with a yarn that is luxuriously soft makes this shawl a pleasure to crochet.
This adventurous beginner crochet shawl was designed by Jane Vanselous.
This lovely wrap design is made with our luscious and divine Vellum Fingering yarn. It is shown in colors : (A) Gust, (B) Meandering, (C) Featherwind, (D) Cooled, (E) Distant Melody.
The sample shown used 887 yards total: A) 187 yds, B) 181 yds, C) 175 yds, D) 179 yds, E) 165 yds.
This is a supremely soft and heirloom-quality yak and alpaca blend yarn! Get ready to ohhh and ahh!
Colors are limited edition.
We made a video giving you tips for successfully making this pattern, including the stitches needed, reading a crochet chart, blocking, and weaving in ends. Take a look:

Hello, Chandi. I just downloaded your beautiful Quietude pattern this evening. Its so lovely. I purchased, 2 days ago, 1000 yards of Crimson Donegal tweed in fingering weight. So very excited. My daughter loves this rich and warm color. The wrap will be for her.
My question is, my eyesight is not great, close up and I cannot get the visual sense of the foundation dc. Can I still opt to make a ch and DC all the way across? I have tried both dc and sc foundation chains and the strain of trying to make sense of what legs to yo and go in to does not compute. Help, please?
Kim, absolutely! No problem at all! Happy crocheting!
Thank you for replying. Its a courtesy I rarely find. Much appreciated.
Thank you for the tutorials and the free patterns. I am a beginner and downloaded the free pattern Quietude, however in Row 5 the written instructions says chain 3 skip first DC but the diagram shows there are DCs in the very next stitch after the chain 3. Can you pls explain.
Thanking you for the great work that you are doing.
