Hello, lovely! Today, I have a gorgeous, crocheted shawl pattern to share with you. I think you’re going to love making this fabulous design. Keep reading to learn all about it!

sarayu crocheted wrap

Sarayu is a stunning, rectangular wrap designed by Krishna Keerthana. It’s a simple repeat of five sections and can easily be made to the width and length that you desire. Stitch counts are included, so you’re sure to have lovely, straight edges. When asked about this beautiful design, Krishna said, “Sarayu means ‘zephyr.’ This wrap is flowy like a gentle breeze. The shawl can be crocheted with any lightweight yarn. Use bright colors to uplift your senses or neutrals to pair with everything.”

This is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern that is perfect for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills/concepts include single crochet, treble crochet, changing colors, and blocking techniques. This pattern includes written instructions only.

The updated version of Sarayu shown here is crocheted with our luscious Yak Silk Lace yarn. When yak is combined with silk, you get an amazingly soft, lustrous, silky, saturated yarn that is impossible to ignore! Yak Silk Lace is a sumptuous, 2-ply blend of 50% ultra-soft yak down fiber and 50% lustrous silk. It’s buttery, creamy to the touch, and shimmery with dreamlike softness. Colors dyed onto this yarn base are rich, saturated, and bold. Perfect for sensual, soft shawls, scarves, baby clothes, socks, hats, and whatever you desire! Hold it double for projects requiring a thicker yarn. Projects made with Yak Silk Lace will be adored and treasured for years on end, and it’s loaded with yardage with 680 yds/630 m per skein.

We used two skeins each of Virgin Yak Silk Lace and Virgo Clarity Yak Silk Lace to crochet the updated version or approximately 2,494 yds/2,281 m total: Color A: 1,254 yds/ 1,147 m and Color B: 1,240 yds/1,134 m.

The original version of Sarayu was crocheted with three skeins of Milky Way Galaxy Oasis Camel Silk Fingering yarn or approximately 1,460 yds/1,335 m total. Our luxurious Oasis Camel Silk Fingering is an exotic, sultry blend of 50% camel fiber and 50% Mulberry silk for incredible softness and shimmer! When you want to treat yourself, this is the way to go! Wonderful for heirloom or wedding shawls, other wraps, scarves, sweaters, and so much more! 500 yds (457 m) per 3-ply skein.
