Crochet Owl – Bookmark
“A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren’t we like that wise old bird?” – Author Unknown
As you’ll recall from this post, while out on a bike ride last summer, I found some Alaskan Mystery Wool. I still have no idea what it is, but perhaps wolf? (It smelled like dog when I washed and blocked it).
I spun it into a lace-weight single yarn and crocheted a basic rectangle with double crochets, and then went around the edge with double crochets. So easy! I soaked it in heated sugar water and pinned it on a piece of cardboard. I let it dry by the fire.
I hot glued 2 vintage buttons from the flea market and then hot glued google eyes on them. I glued a tiny triangle of lace for the beak. His name is Mr. Owl Bookmark. And he’s quite smitten with me. And I with him. 🙂
And I love to read, so he’ll be my handsome reading companion.
Next up, I have a new hat to show you that I finished knitting, as well as a new spinning project and scarf I made. Oh, yeah. And a crocheted key chain. Stay tuned!
Peace and Light!
He’s soooo cute! And very wise to be smitten with you;)
I LOVE this! My mom collects owly things and this would be perfect for her 🙂
Thank you, Chandi!
