Knit This Adjustable, Cabled Shawl Today – Oscillation!

Hello, my sweet sunbeam! I have two amazing treats to share with you today! First up is a richly cabled, knitted shawl pattern that I think you’re going to fall in love with! And second, it’s the return of our luscious, Limited Edition Signature Fingering yarn! I hope you’ll keep reading to learn about both!

Oscillation was designed by Becca Leith. When asked about this pattern, Becca said, “The Oscillation shawl is inspired by the ebb and flow of riptides. The water coming into the riptide from different angles is shown in the braided cable columns, and the central column shows the direction of the riptide’s center.”

“The Oscillation pattern includes five size options for the width and two size options for the length. Both the width and length are easily adjustable by working more or fewer repeats of each pattern. The lengths are designated by numbers (1, 2), and the widths are designated by traditional sizes [XS, S (M, L) XL]. The shawl is worked flat from one end to the other, and the bind off is a simple knitted bind off.”

This Intermediate level pattern is perfect for knitters who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include knit, purl, Long-Tail Cast On, Knitted Bind Off, cables, reading a chart, and blocking. 

Oscillation is shown here in our Limited Edition Signature Fingering yarn, which is a soft and breathable blend of 30% Linen, 30% Mulberry Silk, and 40% Baby Alpaca. The linen fiber in each colorway is dyed in our signature aqua blue color, which ties all of the shades together, while the other fibers are dyed in complementary colors. This collection is meant to symbolize our journey as a company. Things may shift and change, but like the linen running throughout the skeins, we strive to stay true to our values of positivity, joy, and the pursuit of constant improvement. Signature Fingering is a lovely, 3-ply yarn with a delightful drape and subtle, heathered colors and 448 yds/410 m per skein.

Sizes are designated as: Length: (1, 2) / Width: XS, S (M, L) XL, which correspond to the following measurements: Length: (70, 90)” / Width: 10, 15 (20, 25) 30″, blocked [Length: (178, 229) cm / Width: 25.5, 38 (51, 63.5) 76 cm, blocked]. The yarn is held double throughout on all versions. The sample shown is a size Medium in Length 1 and is modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust. The sample used approximately 2170 yds (1985 m) total.

The sample shown here was knitted with Persistence Signature Fingering yarn. For Length 1, you’ll need approximately 1380, 1780 (2600, 3000) 3820 yds / 1262, 1628 (2377, 2743) 3493 m total. For Length 2, you’ll need approximately 1660, 2280 (3300, 3820) 4860 yds / 1518, 2085, (3018, 3493) 4444 m total.
