Hello, beautiful soul! This week, I’m so excited to share Denouement, a stunning knitted shawl pattern filled with graceful cables, delicate lace, and rich texture from end to end. This elegant wrap has just the right mix of drama and softness, making it a beautiful project to sink into and an even lovelier piece to wrap around your shoulders when you want a little extra warmth and style. Keep reading to learn all about this gorgeous knit shawl pattern and the yarn we used to bring it to life!

Denouement was designed by Donielle Oliver Showvay. When asked about her pattern, Donielle said, “Inspired by the weaving plot of a great story, the cables in Denouement climb gracefully throughout the shawl over an openwork lace mesh background. This lightweight piece will be a favorite to drape over the shoulders while cozying up with a beloved book. Just like the plot of a good book, colors begin with #1 ‘the exposition.’ Then the color intensifies in the ‘rising action’ of color #2. The lustrous gold in color #3 represents the ‘climax,’ followed by ‘falling action’ in color #4. The deep color of #5 quiets back down into the ‘resolution.'”

This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who would like some practice with cables and lace. Stitches used for lace are k2tog, ssk, and yo. Two cable stitches are used to create the rope cables and the braid cables: C6L and C6R. The pattern includes written and charted instructions and comes with a video tutorial.

Denouement is knitted with our scrumptious Sincere Sock yarn, which is a delightfully soft, sweet, and pleasant, fingering-weight yarn. This 3-ply blend gets its softness from Merino Wool and its strength from Nylon. The base takes the dye beautifully, which results in stunning, vibrant shades! It’s a wonderful yarn for everything from shawls and sweaters to socks, hats, mittens, baby items, blankets, and loads more! Sincere Sock is made from 75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon and has 437 yds/400 m per skein.

Our sample was made with one Fantasy Hues Sincere Sock Kit (437 yds/400 m per skein; 2,185 yds/ 2,000 m per kit) and used approximately 2,111 yds/1,933 m total (Color A: 415 yds/380 m, Color B: 427 yds/391 m, Color C: 427 yds/391 m, Color D: 427 yds/391 m, and Color E: 415 yds/380 m). The colors were used in the following order: A) Twisted Fate, B) Ancient Prophecy, C) Mortal Realm, D) Warrior’s Oath, and E) Illyrian Wings.

We made a video showing how to get started knitting this shawl, including how to read the chart. Grab some yarn and your needles, and follow along with me!
