Hello, creative soul! Today, I have a colorful knit shawl pattern to share with you. It’s the sister pattern to our recently released crocheted Rechaka shawl. Surround yourself in the rainbow vibrance of this stunning shawl, and keep reading for all the details!
Puraka was designed by Janica York Carter. When asked about this pattern, Janica said, “The seven colors of the rainbow are also associated with the seven chakras that are used in a variety of ancient meditation practices. Chakras are considered to be centers of energy in your spirit, and some yoga techniques are designed to benefit chakras through movement, breath, and meditation. This rectangular wrap blends the colors from the root to the crown with simple stitches and a central column of delicate lace. It is also large enough to cover a standard yoga mat if you wish to incorporate these colors into your own meditations.”
This is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern that is ideal for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include basic lace stitches. The pattern includes written and charted instructions.
Puraka is knit with our heartwarming Twisted Tweed Sport yarn. It’s a wonderfully soft and bouncy, unique fiber blend that includes two types of wool that are twisted together, which results in a cool, barber pole effect with gold, plum and brown Donegal Tweed neps. This yarn base is both earthy, homey, and charming, as well as hip and modern, and the colors are out of this world! Twisted Tweed Sport is a blend of 43% Superwash Merino Wool, 42% Fine Merino Wool, and 15% Donegal with 384 yds/351 m per skein. I love this yarn base for super sweet sweaters and snuggly accessories, shawls, blankets, and more!
The sample shown here was made with our Chakra Hues Twisted Tweed Sport Kit and used approximately 1,135 m/1,241 yds in total [Color A: 155 m/170 yds, Color B: 165 m/180 yds, Color C: 165 m/180 yds, Color D: 165 m/180 yds, Color E: 165 m/180 yds, Color F: 165 m/180 yds, and Color G: 155 m/170 yds. Â The colors were used in the following order: A) Root Chakra (red), B) Sacral Chakra (orange), C) Solar Plexus Chakra (yellow), D) Heart Chakra (green), E) Throat Chakra (light blue), F) Third Eye Chakra (dark blue), and G) Crown Chakra (purple).
