Hello, sweet soul! Today, I have a stunning, double knit shawl pattern to share with you. Cuddly, warm, and inspired by the Northern Lights, this shawl is a real showstopper! Keep reading to learn all about this week’s new pattern!

Sky Dance was designed by Donielle Oliver Showvay. When asked about the inspiration for this pattern, she said, “When my husband and I went to Alaska for our honeymoon, one of the things we were hoping to enjoy was the beautiful colors of the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. Unfortunately, we did not get to witness that amazing phenomenon, but I wanted to commemorate the joy of our honeymoon by creating a shawl that represented Alaska and its beauty. Sky Dance is my interpretation of the fleeting wonders of the night sky.”

This is an Intermediate level pattern that is perfect for knitters who would like to expand their skills and learn how to double knit. This pattern provides video tutorials, a chart, and written instructions to help with professional finishing techniques. The design is simple, allowing the knitter to practice this new skill. Stitch markers may be used, if desired, to help with keeping correct count.

Sky Dance is made with our lovely Cosmic Confetti Fingering yarn, which is pure magic in a skein! Whimsical, squishy, and bursting with playful, tweedy flecks and a touch of sparkle, this yarn is like a party for your needles and hooks! Made from a luxurious 4-ply blend of 92% dreamy Merino Wool and 8% Polyester, it’s irresistibly soft and ready to bring your projects to life. The colors on this base? Absolutely out-of-this-world stunning… Each one is a little universe of happiness and beauty! Perfect for when your projects deserve that extra sprinkle of joy and wow!

The sample shown here was knitted with four skeins EACH of A) Skyfire Waves Cosmic Confetti Fingering and B) Abyss Cosmic Confetti Fingering. The sample shown used approximately 3,130 yds/2,862 m total [Color A: 1,565 yds/1,431 m and Color B: 1,565 yds/1,431 m].

We made a video tutorial demonstrating the Invisible Double Knitting Cast On, how to work double knit stitches, as well as one version of the slip stitch edge. Take a look!
