Hello, my sweet daisy! I’m super excited to announce our 2025 Spring Knit and Read Along! We’ll join together on Ravelry to knit some gorgeous, cozy blankets, like this week’s Ambry pattern, while each participant also reads a book of their choice. Plus, did I mention that there will be a prize at the end? I hope you’ll keep reading to learn how you can sign up and join in on all of the fun!
This week’s knit pattern is Ambry, which was designed by Janica York Carter. When asked about this pattern, Janica said, “When I grow old, I wish to live like a Hobbit, with a full pantry and a cozy reading corner. Ambry would nestle in my comfy chair, ready to serve as a lap blanket or to wrap around my shoulders as I drink tea and lose myself in a great story. The simple mosaic motif becomes an exploration of texture and color, mixing garter and stockinette stitches while placing colors to highlight the formation of squares, triangles, and diamonds. Full written instructions also include charts. An I-cord cast-on is the foundation of I-cord edging that finishes with an I-cord bind-off.”
This is an Adventurous Beginner level design and is for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. This pattern combines knit, purl, and slip stitches to create a mosaic pattern, as well as an I-cord cast-on and bind-off.

The book I read was The Star and the Shamrock by Jean Granger it takes place during WWII from Germany to England to Ireland and about the lives of people that are involved during this time period.
Do you have a video on how the yarn is carried along
Beautiful shawl. I’m thinking of knitting it in three colors – Firelight Fable, Story weaver, and Epic Tale. Thanks very much.
Hi, I would love to get these yarns! And to do that, I am commenting the word “book” now! Thank you!!
