Hello, my lil’ buttercup! This week, I have a cozy, striped, knitted shawl pattern that I think you’re going to want to cast on lickety-split quick! Keep reading to learn all about this fun, beginner friendly pattern.

Lilias was designed by Emma Butram. When asked about this pattern, Emma said, “Lilias was the name of a character from the book The Secret Garden. She had her beautiful garden nestled on the grounds of Misselthwaite Manor, and she spent many happy times there with her husband Lord Archibald Craven. Sadly, Lilias died, and the whole house seemed to fall into despair at her passing. But her niece Mary discovered the secret garden nearly 10 years later and was able to bring it back to life. Her discovery led to the renewal of the whole estate and helped bring healing to her uncle and cousin. This shawl features simple stitches that resemble plants, ivy, and flowers. The design is easily customizable and perfect for a stroll outside in your favorite garden.”

This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills/concepts include reading written instructions, working basic lace and textural stitches, and switching between colors.

Lilias is made with our gorgeous, Limited Edition Bamboo Alpaca Fingering, which is a wonderful yarn that is a soft and silky blend of 80% bamboo and 20% alpaca. With drape galore and a subtle sheen, this elegant yarn is puddly, slinky, and dreamy with 384 yds/351 m per skein! This yarn is ideal for shawls, garments, hats, mittens, blankets, and so much more!

The sample shown here was knitted with these Limited Edition colors: A) Dock, B) Beach Towel, C) Sandbar, and D) Distant Islands Bamboo Alpaca Fingering. You will need one skein of each color.

Bamboo Alpaca Fingering is a Limited Edition yarn. Once this year’s colors are sold out, they are gone for good, so be sure to purchase all you need for your project.

We made a video demonstrating how to knit all the sections in this shawl. Grab your needles and some yarn, and follow along with me!
