Hi Chandi 🙂
I’ve been crafting for 10 years, but I only worked with paper. I started knitting nearly 3 years ago. And I learned a lot from your videos when I started. Today I design my own patterns (dresses, sweaters, jackets, etc.). The last two projects I made with your sumptuous Alpaca silk lace wool.
And again this month, the wool selection in your yarn giveaway is truly magnificent! What splendor! 🙂
Chandi absolutely love your posts! Feel so uplifted as I listen. I’ve been knitting for a long time not sure even when I started! Have to do it every single day.
I have been crafting for my whole life, but knitting for 2 years and crocheting for 3 years! I really hope I win so I can make a crochet blanket or sweater in these gorgeous fall colors!
Hi, Chandi! OMG, what gorgeous yarns!
I’ve been crafting for over 30 years, crochet for most of it but have done more knitting in the past 5 years. It gives me a creative outlet that produces lovely items. I love making shawls and blankets, and have recently started making cardigans, so these colors would be awesome jn any of those projects.
Keep making the world a more beautiful place with your colors and your sweet personality!
I so love your yarns. What a joy to see and lots of my favorite color blue for my birthday month!
My BLUES! My BLUES! You always grab me with the most gorgeous shades of BLUE!, my favorite color! My NOT BLUES! My NOT BLUES! You always grab me with the most gorgeous shades of NOT BLUE!, my second favorite color. Every month I play a game with myself; “If I win, which of these am I going to share with friends?” Every month, at least two friends get make-believe gifts. NOT THIS TIME! NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! THESE ARE MINE, ALL MINE! Thanks for sharing your blessings with us, with your gorgeous free patterns, your generous giveaways, and your gracious words of encouragement.
I love every hank of yarn I’ve purchased 😊 it’s all so beautiful 😍 and a luxury to work with. Even though I’ve only been a crocheter for a little over 3 years, I love creating and relaxing with luxurious yarn. Crafting though, oh about 50 years, started in 4H and have always been “making” something
I hope I will win something
More than 60. My aunt taught me to knit when I was young.
I started knitting about 24 years ago when my elementary school teacher offered to teach us after school. Funnily enough I never wanted to crochet and only started learning it during the pandemic and now I can’t stop 😀
I’m new to your site, but I love your yarn and your patterns. Especially your patterns accompanied by your tutorials. Itmakes crocheting so much more relaxing and fun! My daughter was over yesterday and I shared your site and my first project with her. Shel likes your stuff also.
Thank you
Vickie
I have been crafting for day too long, I learned to crochet from my Nana when I was a child, so maybe 35 years off and on.
Love the yarn ! Love the patterns! Love the sweet messages! Chandi,I’m going through a very rough time and the lovely messages you send has helped me…. My Mother always helped me pick out colors and patterns… 😢🌹
Hi Chandi!
I’ve been knitting since I was 7. So, that’ll be 8 years of endless knitting!
Hi! I’ve been knitting since I was 7 so that’ll be 8 years of endless knitting!
I started knitting at the age of 7. So, that’s about 8 years of endless knitting!
Hi, My knitting journey began 8 years ago, just when I was 7.
I started crafting around 1965ish when my grandmother’s taught me how to knit and crochet.
Oh my goodness! I’ve been crafting as long as I remember but I found fiber arts around 25 years ago. After trying to learn to crochet and to knit with no success, I finally found weaving! Weaving is my Zen.
Every month it seems these are more beautiful than the one before! I learned to knit and crochet when I was about 5 and learned to sew not long after. By the time I was 8, I was making patterns for my dolls and I made my first pattern for myself when I was about 14. I wore it to school. It’s been 51 years and now I get to teach my grandchildren (only granddaughters have shown interest thus far).
What a gorgeous array of colors & yarns! Thank you for the opportunity! I have been crafting for about 40 years.
Goodness, 55 years.
I started to knit at age 12. Stopped in my early 20s for my other passion – needlework. Due to hand problems had to stop that, and i picked up knitting when I retired 10 years ago and have not looked back! If I’m not knitting, I’m listening to podcasts, viewing Live events, attending fiber festivals and reading knitting books. Everything knitting!
Now I need to win the September giveaway! Love those colors!
I remember being 8 and knitting..z it took me forever to get anything done then I took a hiatus until my early 20’s. Altogether 40 years.
Hi! I started my knitting journey since I was 7. That’s 8 years of pure delight!
I’ve been crafting for around 40 years now 😲. Mostly knitting, sometimes a little crocheting, a little cross-stitching.
The yarns, the colors in this giveaway are stunning. 😍
What a beautiful set of yarn that you’re giving away! I started crocheting doll clothes as a young girl, l most 60 years ago. My grandmother taught me to crochet lace doilies using steel hooks and fine pearl thread.
Wow I love the colors! I started as a child but was bad at it. Then picked it up again in 2020 and going strong 🙂
I’ve been crafting ever since I can remember. It was the late ’60s / early ’70s, and crafting was big! I learned to knit at least 50 years ago (though I was *really* bad at it at first) and taught myself to crochet from a book about 30 years ago. Hooray for libraries!
I’ve been crocheting since 2014 … for only 10 years. And I just learned to knit in 2020 …. only 4 years. Still consider myself a newbie. Thanks as always, Chandi, for the giveaway!
Another beautiful assortment of yummyness. My grandmother taught me how to crochet, sew and knit when I was a child (over 50 years ago). Crochet and sewing stuck, but not knitting. Maybe someday. I have continued crocheting and discovered hand dyed yarn last year.
Just started knitting near the end of 2021 and crocheting off and on for about 50 yrs. My Mom taught me how to crochet (her being left handed and me being right handed) when I was about 10 or so.
I’ve been knitting in earnest for about 7 years now, but I remember eagerly perusing the local craft store as a kid to find any new thing that caught my fancy. Crafting has always been an escape for me!
So BEAUTIFUL. 😍 I’ve been crafting with yarn for 26 years.
I’ve been crafting for about four years now! I started during covid and have really enjoyed it.
Hi Chandi! I’ve been crocheting and knitting for 55 years. My Portuguese Grandma taught me when I was 10. I did more sewing than knitting when my four kids were younger but now I’m the community hat, gloves, and baby items maker knitting and crocheting daily.
my grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 7… I’m turning 54. It’s my expression of love that originated in love
I started sewing in 2014 and knitting at the end of 2018. Knitting became my primary craft during the pandemic.
Thank you for a chance at yet another beautiful set of yarn!
I have been crafting almost since before I can remember… my sweet grandmother taught me knitting and embroidery when I was small, I must have been around 5. That makes it about 54 years! Almost never a day without knitting now.
My grandma started teaching me knitting while I was a child but I didn’t really get interested again until about 12-15 years ago. I remember going to my grandma for help binding off after I finished my for scarf. That was shortly before she passed. Since then, YouTube has been my teacher as I’ve expanded my skill sets and moved on to learning crochet
Finally autumn is coming, and you certainly picked a lovely set to welcome it!
I’ve been crafting since I was child, so about 25 years. I’ve tried glass painting, painting, polymer clay, regular clay, pottery, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, and it’s the latter two that got me “hooked”. I spend some time most every day either knitting, crocheting, or both.
I’ve lost track, but I think I have been into the yarn fiber arts for about 7 or 8 years now. I was in my 60’s when I taught myself to crochet, thanks to you and youtube tutorials, among others like Annoo and Kristin Omdahl. These photos of the aqua colors of various yarns and fibers are so gorgeous! ANYONE who wins this drawing will be blessed! Thank you for giving away like you do!
I started knitting almost 15 years ago and cannot imagine life without a needle any more !
I’ve been crafting for more than 60 years now – god that makes me sound old! I’m now teaching a new generation just like my nan taught me at the tender age of 4 to make my doll knitted and crocheted clothes.
I have been crafting since I was in junior school where I learnt to knit and have been doing it for about 50 years. I learnt to art of crocheting about 2-3 years ago and over the years have increased my skills by watching youtube tutorials and learning online from other people. I have learnt to follow patterns for crochet which is something I thought I would not be able to achieve but I am pleased I did. I would like to learn how to dye yarn, one day I will do this
I’ve been crafting since I was around the age of 5, so for 33 years. My mother and grandmother were both very crafty and talented people. My mother used to have specific craft-time with me and my brother, with books we could pick what we wanted to make. When I got older my grandmother taught me to knit and my mother taught me to crochet and cross stitch.
i’ve been knitting and crocheting since i was 13…too many years to admit to.
My grandmother was a potter, and I went to her shop with her starting when I was six weeks old! She was my “daycare”! As soon as I could hold a glazing brush, I was glazing ceramics and telling the shop’s clients how to glaze theirs. I learned how to crochet as a child, using a library book. Growing up in a cold place meant playing in the snow or staying in and reading books or crafting in the winter. I learned how to knit in my mid-30s. So 45 years for pottery/ceramics, 40 years of crocheting and 10 years of knitting! I have dabbled in candle making, cross stitching, embossing, stamping, latchhooking, scrapbooking, embroidery, visible mending, weaving, and I make my own progress keepers/stitch markers / earrings from time to time. I continue to take ceramics classes at my community center when they’re available. But they’re often during work hours when I can’t go.
superbes couleurs
My maternal grandma taught me to crochet when i was 7-8 years old. Oh the pile of doilies i made back then.. well, i made one and then I’d frog it and make different one. Hooks were no bigger than 1,75 mm.
Grandma knitted socks too, but i really learned it in school at 9-10 yo. After that I’ve been knitting and crocheting on and off for over 33 years now.
Actively from 2020 (not bc of covid).
I started crocheting about 8 years ago
I’ve been crafting for more than 35 years. First cross stitching . Then my mother taught me how to knit when I was 10 and later the basics of crochet. Being left handed and her right handed, with no Internet at the time, it was a bit of a challenge. But what she did the best is passing on her love of crafts to me and my sister. We grew up with her knitting, crocheting, sewing, framing, fixing old furnitures. We learned that if you put your heart at it, you can achieve great things!
I have been crafting 40+ years. Besides crochet & knitting I love to work with watercolors & scrapbook/journal. My friend offers drop watercolor classes that I enjoy going to. It’s very meditative & I get lost in mixing the colors & the beauty it creates. Your mixed color yarns remind me of it. You can’t control it & not every one will be alike.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity & your kindness in offering it to us Chandi 💚
I’ve only been knitting since Christmas 2021. As a little girl, both my mom and her mom crocheted and were pretty crafty. I have great memories of going to my grandmother’s house where we used puff paints and Pom poms to make sweaters and shirts that were an attempt to match her expertly, hand-painted masterpieces. My mom also taught me and my sister how to hand sew pillows and purses out of discarded jeans. However, I poured my creativity into music for most of my life. It wasn’t until I loss the use of three of my fingers and my vocal chords were paralyzed that I pivoted to knitting (as I wasn’t able to find a way to crochet). I came across EFA that Christmas as I was searching for a new hobby and the rest is history. I’m so thankful for EFA for being the foundation on which I’ve been able to find myself in a new passion!!
Hi! I’m new to your site, your yarn is beautiful! I’ve been crafting in one way or another for as long as I can remember. I started knitting about 18 years ago (in high school) and I just started to crochet last month.
I’ve been crafting for 50 years! Learned to crochet as a child in summer camp, then took up counted cross stitch in college… then back to crochet and knitting during the pandemic. Absolutely love the creative outlet that crafting provides.
Crafting (and art) found me young, and from that I was sure I’d be a glamorous NYC graphic designer living in a brownstone (with a garage!). And I DID walk right *along the edge* of that dream, but ultimately ended up creating with fiber in a small town by the sea, and being a finance person. Embroidery and latch hook(!) grabbed me as a kid, but crochet and knitting are my companions these last nine years. Along with a *very* healthy stash.
Hi Chandi! I’ve been crafting most of my life starting with ceramics in grade school. My grandmother taught me to crochet and sew. I also dabbled with knitting and jewelry making. I love your yarns (the colors!) and got back to crocheting regularly.
I’ve been crafting for over 50 years. This month I’m making your Banda top.
Hi, Chandi I’ve been crafting 63 years (! Gosh, I hadn’t thought about it that way!) in order of appearance: embroidery, stamped cross stitch, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, cross stitch, crochet, diamond painting. Thank you for your lovely yarns ❤️
I have been crafting since I was 10 years old. Now I am 68 years old. I craft more now in contrast to those days when my children were growing and need more of my attention. Now they are all independent and I can craft all I want with the time.
I remember teaching myself to knit from a booklet when I was in elementary school. No one else around me was a crafter. I moved into crochet during high school. Then my crafting snowballed and filled my life. So I have been a lifelong needle worker.
I’ve been crocheting for 12 years. Discovered your yarn and pattern collabs from YouTube about 3 years ago and LOVE IT. I save it for my special projects, for me and for family/friends who appreciate the luxury. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hi, Chandi! I’ve been crafting most of my life. I remember working counted cross stitch with my mother when I was in elementary school. I’ve been knitting for about 20 years, and crocheting for about 8 years.
My mother thought me how to knit and crochet when I was 8 years old. After many years of doll clothes and doilies away I went to college and life went on with no time for such pleasures. Then Covid happened. Trapped in a house with lots of worries and fears… that’s when I bought some yarn and needles (online of course) and got busy knitting a shawl. Needless to say that it helped me to focus on something else besides sorrow and uncertainty. Now, not a day goes by without spending at least a couple of hours crocheting or knitting. It’s all about the simple pleasures in life isn’t? Thank you EFA for making my life brighter and cuddlier!
I swear I’ve been crafting all my life!
I have been crafting since I was around 6 or 7 years old, I think, so it’s been over 60 years. My grandmother taught me how to knit. I taught myself crochet and cross-stitch later. I haven’t always been consistent (you know, life gets in the way!), but eventually I always come back around to finding the time to craft. Right now knitting is my passion!
My mom taught me how to knit when I was 10. My first project was a headband and I was so proud to wear
It to school!! I’m going to be 70 and have been knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint……..ever since. It’s my mind yoga 🧶
I’ve been knitting and crocheting for years. With all the YouTube videos tutorials available now, I’ve learned a ton in the last 10 years. I just LOVE yarn. I could fill a bathtub with it and it would be spilling over. One can never have enough yarn!
OMG such beautiful colours! My Grandmother taught me to crochet when I was ~7 years old so I’ve been crafting for over 50 years! LOVE knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint.
I have been knitting for 14 years!
I learned to knit on a school bus 60 years ago, but my dabbling took a turn for the serious about 15 years ago.
Consistently? For like 10 years, in general? 20 or so. Started with sewing clothes/beds for my neopet toys from McDonalds and making yarn dolls for christmas, now i knit, crochet, embrouder, cross stitch, sew, spin, and so much more.
Good Morning Chandi!
I have been creating since I was a young teen. My Mother was so crafty I think we were almost born with the tools in our hands. Note that I am retired I enjoy knitting and crocheting every day, with some other crafts thrown in for fun.
About 3 years since taking up crochet during the pandemic lockdown. Super grateful for your YouTube tutorial on how to crochet the Adeline shawl
Hi Chandi. I’ve been crafting for over 40 years. Crochet has been my top craft for over 20 years.
I have been doing some form of crafting ever since I was old enough to put the things in my imagination together in physical form. I have been crocheting since I was about 7.
Hi Chandi,
I’ve been crafting for over 40 years! Started with scrapbooking, then card making, jewelry, and now knitting and crocheting. My mom taught me how to knit when I was about 13 and my grandmother taught me how to crochet. I had trouble understanding how to purl, so I stuck with crocheting. I took a knitting class 3 years ago and when the teacher explained it, what my mom taught me clicked. Been knitting ever since!
I’m a beginner crafting, I’m interested in crafting since I was 15 years old but on that moment I couldn’t get tutorial in my language, mostly tutorials were in English and Spanish. Since now I’m little bit understanding English,so I’m able to learn. So yeah I have been crafting for about 4years.
I have been crocheting for 56 years. Crocheting relaxes me after having a stressful day.
My wonderfully patient mother taught me knitting when I was a teenager and I made my first sweater when I was 16. That was 40 years ago 😳 and I still knit every day! I also have dabbled in cross stitch and bead jewelry.
I’ve been crafting for 30 plus years. I learned to knit about 10 years ago and just started crocheting 5 months ago.
As a child, my grandma taught me how to crochet (just simple stitches). I did not pick up a hook or needle for probably 30 years since that time. I learned to knit about 7 years ago using online resources and library books. I will echo the hooray for libraries!
I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember.
First learned to knit about 25 years ago when I was very young. But only really got into it (picked up needles and never really put them back down) about 10 years ago.
I have been crafting off and on for about 40 years.
I’ve been crocheting for 40 years, but crafting before that while earning badges for Girl Scouts. I think macrame started it for me in the late 60’s!
I have been crocheting on and off for the last 20 years. When I’m off I’ve tried so many other crafts, but my heart always comes back to yarn. The act of creation, the meditative quality to it, watching something take shape… it heals my soul.
My first stitch adventure was at age 6. My dolls pajamas were splitting at the seams in a few spots. I asked my mom to fix them. Instead, she gave me a threaded needle and basic instructions. However, I didn’t get the part where I needed to cut the thread between the holes so ended up with a web of criss-crossing threads that made it impossible to put the pajamas back on the doll. After tears and the agony of defeat, my mom fixed them and explained what I needed to do next time. 61 years later, I have done nearly type of fiber art known to man. I just “retired” from 30 years of costuming dolls for fun and profit. Now I want to concentrate on crocheting, learning to knit and weave as well as creating fabric collage and abstract embroidery. Thank you so much for EFA and your wonderful, entertaining and encouraging heart!
Been doing craft things since I was a young girl. So probably been crafting for the last 30+ years. I started cross-stitching when I was in 6th grade or around there. Then learned how to do knit and purls. A few years later I started trying to teach myself how to crochet. I have always loved to do manual crafts. I think my next goal is to learn how to sew.
If I consider using my ingenuity a form of crafting, I have been crafting my whole life. Since I retired I have been crocheting since 2016 on a daily basis. I love the feel of your scrumptious yarn bases flowing through my fingers. So comforting. I thank you for your generosity, encouraging and uplifting videos, and the EFA staff and community.
I have been crafting since my grandmother taught mt to knit 70 years ago.
Hi Chandi,
I’ve been crafting on and off for the last 20 years or so, but started knitting 3 yrs ago and I’m learning to crochet as well. I discovered your videos through that process and have and am learning so much from your videos. Thank you for your thoughtful words of encouragement and your generous nature. Stay blessed!
Another stunning selection of yarn! A huge thank you to Chandi and the entire team at Expression Fiber Arts for the wonderful monthly giveaway! I’ve been enjoying crocheting for 18 years and knitting for 20 years.
I started basic knitting as a child with my mom. I didn’t knit for a number of years as I was primarily sewing. About ten years ago I went back to knitting watching videos and I got hooked trying to improve and learning more about fibers and techniques. I never learned to crochet…. maybe that’s next.
I learned to knit when I was 4, but did not really start until I was in my 20’s. So, over 20 years I guess.
My grandma taught me to crochet as a child (simple stitches). I had not picked up a hook or needle for around 30 years. I taught myself to knit using online resources and library books around 8 years ago. I will echo. . . HOORAY for LIBRARIES!
Crocheting for over 35 years. Love your yarn!!
I learned to crochet as a child from my mother and great grandmother. After taking a few years off when my kids were young, I have been crocheting for about 50 years. These yarns are so beautiful this month, I love the colors!
For knitting, I started learning 15 years ago but dropped it after a few scarves. Then I picked it up again about 2 years ago and added crochet and Tunisian crochet. It stuck this time and I’ve been dedicated to it since then.
I’ve been crafting for 8 years. Mostly knitting but I’ve tried crochet and just can’t get the hang of it.
15 years
Hi Chandi, I’ve been knitting seriously for these the past 4 years. I had dabbled a little but lockdown really brought it home. I was a serious quilter for 30 years but knitting just captured my imagination. When choosing yarn for a project I look to you beautiful selection first. Not only are the colors gorgeous but your fibers are scrumptious. Win would be such a dream come true. I also want to wish you all the best in your business. The fiber community needs Indy dyers like you!
I have started knitting about 6 years ago and crocheting 1 year ago. And I love it more and more!
I’m not sure there was ever a time when I wasn’t crafting! I learned to sew with yarn and plastic canvas when I was really little, then upgraded to a real needle when I could be trusted with sharp objects. At 13 I taught myself to sew on my grandmother’s old machine, taught myself to knit at 14 from a book, and only started crocheting in the past few years. I also do both hand and machine embroidery. Creating is my favorite thing to do ever!
I have been crocheting for over 20 years!
I have been knitting for about 8 years, still haven’t ventured to making sweaters or more complex garments but I did recently try crochet and love it!
I’ve been crafting in one way shape or form since I was a child. Only recently got back to my yarny crafts though!
I feel like I have been crafting all my life. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was nine – so make that 72 years crafting. I’m so thankful that she taught me to knit a few years later. Thank you for your generous giveaways.
I’ve been knitting for 40 years! I stopped when I started nursing school and started again this year:) Loving it again! I love all of your gorgeous yarns!
Hi, Chandi,
I’ve been knitting around 12 years, but did other types of crafting before…stamps, scrapbooking, etc.
I currently live in Corning NY, but may be moving to the Charlotte area soon. I’ll have to look you up if I do 😁
I’ve been crafting since I was a girl, but only recently started getting into crochet, I taught myself a few years ago and fell in love! I’m still exploring all the different types of yarn, and it’s such a joyful journey! ❤️
I started crafting at the age of 4. By the time I was 5, I had knit enough misshapen squares for my mom to sew together for a blanket for my dolly’s cradle. That’s 70 years at the end of this month, and I am still going strong….knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting and machine embroidery.
Knitting is still my favorite.
Dad says I was born with the needles in my hands. Mom disagrees.🤭
I have been crafting, many different types, since I was a child. I’ve been knitting since 1960!!
Been crafting for 30 years. 16 years crocheting and just starting and falling in love with knitting
I’ve done latch hook and cross stitch since I was eight. I got into cosplay around 2008. I got into quilting since 2012 (although that hobby been on hiatus since I’ve had kids). I’ve been knitting since 2019. My grandma tried to teach me when I was around 10 but I gave up since when I made a mistake I didn’t know how to fix it (before YouTube). In college, my friend tried to teach me crochet but I couldn’t get the hang of it. Twenty-six years later my good friends taught me when we took a vacation to Biltmore. I’ve been hooked ever since. I even learned how to crochet amigurumi in 2022. I love how portable my projects are and how I can work on projects based on my needs and the focus I have. I also use it to help with my fidgeting (I have combined ADHD) and my anxiety. I’m so grateful to my friends for reintroducing this wonderful craft!
Good morning, Chandi. I’ve been crafting most of my life, starting with a pot holder kit I got for Christmas when I was about six. My mother never ran out of pot holders! A sewing class in 7th grade home economics was next. I taught myself to knit when I was 21 and my husband was deployed at sea in the Navy. That was almost 60 years ago. The rest is history. Love your yarn and patterns!
I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember. My grandmother still has a sewing room with all imaginable supplies, but as a child I remember drawers full of threads and beads and sequins, fuzzy little pompoms, plastic canvas sheets, styrofoam shapes and fabric piled high on shelves in every shade possible. My aunt was in charge of crafts for the local girl scout troop and every time I visited my cousins we were making picture frames with popsicle sticks and seashells ( or stray puzzle pieces).
My mother taught me how to crochet a chain stitch when I was 5, and I practiced on the train ride from Southern California to northern Kentucky. My mother’s best friend taught me to cross stitch when I was 8, my first piece was a proud Ziggy character. And when I turned 12, I begged my mother to teach me how to use her sewing machine. A year later, my other Aunt gifted me a book of quilt patches and I found a new use for all my sewing scraps. That same year, a babysitter taught me the basics of knitting. I started paper crafting in highschool because I loved capturing my family’s memories. Crafting is a massive stress release for me, and it’s been a wonderful way to spend time with my kids.
I’m in my 40s and I’ve been crafting all my life with no regrets!
I learnt to knit in school around 30 years ago and got back to it 7 years ago when my son was born with your Unending Love blanket pattern and tutorial. I’ve not stopped since 😀
I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember, probably about 45 years. Mum taught me to knit and sew when I was about 5, guess I just wanted to be like her as she was always knitting or sewing!🧶🧵🪡😊
Since the early 70’s. Mom made all our clothes and taught sewing in 4-H at our church, so I started sewing very young. My sister taught me very basic crochet when I was very young as well, but I never did anything with it. And of course there were always all kinds of other non-fiber crafting going on. Decoupage, wood working, cross-stitch, latchhook, making ornaments out of a flour dough, toll-paining …so many things. But I really took up knitting and made my first project (blanket) in HS in the late 80s and then became a daily habit around 2016. Crafting has been a life-long metamorphosis.
Hi Chandi! I have been only knitting for 7 years. It took retirement to get started and now I am hooked! Love all your yarns and patterns! Also I am a jewelry maker which I have been doing for about 25 years.
Hello, I am Arceli and I just started crocheting this year and love crochet and learn to make and do new stitches to make beautiful things for me and others!!
Hi Chandi, I have been crafting off-and-on for 62 years. I started with embroidery and crewel, then Mom taught me to crochet.
Goodness, I have been crafting longer than I can remember. I was probably 5 when I started with plastic canvas and crewel. I did pottery in school. My grandmother crocheted and I was always fascinated but never asked to learn. I did cross stitch for many years. My crocheting journey didn’t begin until I was around 25.
I’ve been crafting pretty much my whole life, my family is very handy. It’s funny because I only learned to crochet when I was 22 and I learned knitting less than a year after. It’s been almost 3 years now since learning and I don’t know how I lived before lol!
Oh my now theres a thing! Been crafting (knitting, crochetting) since I was about 8 or 9 yrs which means about 60 years. My great grand mother taught me these skills and she was 102yrs.
I’ve been a serious fiber artist since 2019. I began with knitting, moved to crochet, and now I spin as well. Looking to learn to weave soon.
Monthly give aways are a beautiful blessing..
Always gorgeous and scrumptious.. Amazing
Been a crafter from the age of 8
Started as a Christmas gift with a rug hooking kit of a kitten.
Mother showed me how to knit at 9.
Making things is a passion.
Greatful
I have been crafting for over 50 years. I knit, spin, and sew. I also do needlepoint, cross stitch, and tat. I love your yarns and have made some tops with your yarn and patterns offered on your website.
I have been crafting my whole life, and if you don’t mind, I don’t want to say how many years LOL!
I’ve been crafting since I was a little girl (I’ve always loved all creative things) but I’ve been knitting daily for 14 years now.
I learnt to knit when working as an au-pair, about 5 years ago.
42 years of handcrafting and I am still so in love with the art of creation. Sumptuous yarn makes life a tactile delight. EFA is my go-to for artistic expression!
My mom taught me embroidry when I was 7, my Aunt Bobbie taught to knit and crochet when I was 10. I’m 63 🙂 I also make copper, sterling silver, and hemp jewelry.
Crochet is how I relax! Love love love your yarns and your vibe <3
I’ve been crafting since I was a child, tried many different forms of art and crafts, but knitting was always a constant. I remember doing Aran sweaters in my 20’s. I’m now in my 80s and still going strong! The yarn is beautiful, as always, I would share some with my granddaughters..they knit too!
My mom taught me to knit 57 years ago. She also tried to teach me to crochet at the same time, but I just could not keep the stitches counted correctly! My square dish cloth became a triangle 🙂 tee hee!
I just learned to crochet in March of this year! And then in June I started learning knitting. I’m addicted! And love your hand dyed yarn!
started crafting in middle school and never stopped!! it is a major part of my life
I have been crafting since I developed the dexterity in my hands to do so. I have always loved making things! I love to tinker, and figure things out.
Happy September. Your yarns are so squishy, soft, and beautiful. I have been crocheting since my early 20’s, so 30 years or so. But I have only this year started using anything other than acrylics or blanket yarns Your yarns opened my crafting crocheting world! Thank you so very much.
I started crocheting when I was maybe 7, so for over 30 years at this point.
Hi Chandi. My mother taught me to knit as a child. As an adult, I started by learning to spin and dye different animal fibers around 1990. Had to set it aside for a number of years due to moving to another state, the demands of jobs, animals, and relationships. Due to my love for fibers and color, and later your business, was able to start knitting and do some weaving in about 2000 to present as time permits. Wanting to pursue more weaving knowledge and abilities these days .
Crafting? My entire life, started as a wee little girl making barbie furniture and houses out of cardboard. Went though the crocheted chain bracelet faze (the only crochet I did know how to do). To Macrame, sewing, attempting crochet again, quilt making and quilting by hand, to finally learning to crochet well, attempted knitting takes me too long, back to sewing and sewing with machine embroidery accents, clothing, purses of all sorts. But still crocheting pretty much daily.
I feel old now… 44 years of crochet!
I love crafting, I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember.
I took up crochet and knitting later in life. I’ve been crocheting for about 6 years and knitting for 3 years.
These days that’s all I love doing ony spare time🥰 knitting and or crocheting. Life is good!
Hey crochet for 10 half years, I’m still working on and learning more crocheting. I love it!!!
My mom taught me to knit and crochet when I was 11. I’m now 76 and still love creating with yarn!
I have been crafting for nearly 60 years. I enjoy EVERYTHING! Started with embroidery and never stopped. LOVE LOVE LOVE your yarn! And the colors!
I have been crafting for 18 years, crocheting for 8 years and knitting for a year now. I feel blessed to have a wonderful family who supported me in all of these.
About 50 years ….. my Mom taught me to knit when I was 7. Crochet came a bit later. Still knitting, and still crocheting.
Hi Chandi! As a beginner knitter, I have a lot of projects planned. Where to start?? I love cardigans, scarves, mittens and socks. How’s that for a start? Ha!
Grandma taught me how to make crochet chains when I we a kid. Expanded to making dish scrubbies as an adult. When she died 6 years ago, I found an unfinished crochet blanket in her closet and decided it was time to learn so I could finish it! Now I’m making prayer shawls and baby blankets and attempting my first garment! Thanks for all your inspiration and free patterns!
I’ve been knitting for more than 3 years now. I actually decided to learn how to knit because I fell in love with the colorways of expression fiber arts (specifically, the June Alexandrite), and I learned with two beginner’s kit I got from the shop, which used Dewy DK yarn for a basic garter scarf and a ribbed hat. I still wear them both – it’s such a wonderfully soft yarn base!
I have been knitting and crocheting for about 8 years. What a lovely giveaway!
I’ve been crafting as long as I remember, I am 66 years old now. Have never stopped create and try to learn new skills. Absolutely lovely yarn 😍
Maybe 50 years! I pretty much did basic things, like hats, scarves, blankets. But since I have joined your group I have made beautiful sweaters and detailed shawls. My friends love getting them as gifts and I love giving them! Thank you to you and your team!
My great aunt tried to teach me to knit as a young child but I couldn’t get it. After she died about 6years ago I was determined to learn I found your videos and I’ve not stopped knitting and crocheting since
I think I’ve been crafting my whole life. I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t doing something crafty. I’ve been crocheting since I was about eight. I’ve been sewing since around ten. I have learned candle wicking and batik dying. I do knit at bit. Most comfortable with the looms. I do cross stitch and embroidery. I have yet to learn how to do tatting and bobbin lace making.
Beautiful combination, such a riot of autumnal joy! My Nan taught me to knit back in 2001, she tried to get me excited about crochet as well. Finally, just this year, I picked it up to make fun stuffies for my kiddos. I think I am kind of getting the hang of just one hook and what you can make with it. Knitting is in my blood though and I haven’t stopped since she showed me how!
I’ve been crafting since childhood. Always, always.
Hi Chandi,
I was three years old when my mother first taught me to sew. I’ve been crafting in one form or another ever since! That’s 42 years! What a joy it is. Thank you so much for this chance at another great giveaway.
I’ve been crocheting for 45/46 years. I taught myself (with a little help on how to turn to crochet next row) to crochet and love trying new patterns.
I’ve been crafting since I was a kid, but started crocheting when I was 12 taught by my mom (how is that 27 years ago??), and picked up knitting at the beginning of covid (a library in another state had online classes).
Thanks for ALL the awesomeness you offer us. I have been a knitter almost 60 years (yikes) and crocheting for a little or 50 years thanks to my Mom and sometimes Gramma. Knitting is my first love though. I wouldn’t know what to do if I won this …. guess I would start by crying many happy tears. Maybe I could make something just for me. I give away everything to a local battered women’s shelter.
I’ve been crafting for nearly 70 years. My Aunt Nell introduced me to crochet when I was five.
She eventually gave me many of her crochet hooks and Hairpin Lace looms. My Aunt Olive taught me Cross Stitch. I’ve always loved making gifts for family members. When my Grandmother passed she had saved a box for me with all the little things I made her in my youth. No one in my family knitted, so I promised myself I would learn after retirement. That was 12 years ago and I’m still learning.
I have been crocheting for many years, since I was a teenager. I developed the desire to crochet while observing my grandmother making doilies WITHOUT any pattern 🤯 and mostly taught myself in the following years, making doilies. I stopped for a number of years after my kids were born, but started again when they got older, encouraged by my daughter. But during that gap, crochet had evolved beyond doilies, and I was delighted to expand my craft to wearables and so much more! What a source of pleasure and a great community!
I was taught to knie when I was about 8. I was knitting in earnest while pregnant with my first child. For the past 20 years I have focused on knitting hats for those undergoing chemo, and tons of baby blankets, with an occasional sweater or scarf as well! I’m 78 now and knit every day!
I’ve been crocheting and knitting for 50 years. There’s nothing like a high-fiber diet! 😉
I’m honestly not sure how long exactly I’ve been crafting. My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was 8 or 9, I think, but I only really got into it again back at the tail end of 2022, beginning of 2023. So it’s either been 16 to 17 years or 1 to 2, depending on how you decide to count it.
I began crocheting when i was 11 and I am 64 now.
I’ve been crafting for over 30 years starting with macrame and beading in a school art club. I picked up knitting about 22 years ago.
My second grade teacher taught the entire class to knit so that we could make slippers for Mother’s Day. That was 60 years ago! I didn’t knit for years at a time growing up, but started sewing when my oldest child was about a year and a half old (she’s now 40!) and re-learned how to knit shortly thereafter. I really haven’t stopped since — knitting, sewing and costume design.
Beautiful colors, as always! I learned to crochet 18 years ago, and I learned knitting 9 years ago. 💕 But I have always loved ALL crafts – creative lettering, painting, embroidery floss macrame, etc, etc, etc 🙂
Hi Chandi! I first taught myself to knit about 18 years ago. (From books, no YouTube videos back then.) I just recently learned to crochet. I have become obsessed with hand dyed yarn. Your yarn is so, so lovely. I love your videos, tutorials and patterns. This month’s selection is the most beautiful yarn I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and artistic talents with us!
Hello Ms Chandi –
Short answer: 8 years and 2 months.
Long answer: I started in the 70’s while working the overnight audit at a motel – plenty of time for stitching. Dropped and restarted in 2012 with coffee cozies for friend. Yet another break of 8 months in 2016 – 2017 and another 12 months to Nov 2018. Steady from that point forward. Total of 98 months so far.
Thank you for the opportunity to participate.
Wish you well.
WOW, just WOW! The yarns this month are gorgeous!
I grew up in a crafting family, so most all my life….60+ years, and all sorts of crafts. Some I am more skilled at than others. LOL It’s all in the name of fun and creativity.
I’ve been doing some type of crafting since I was 11 years old and I’m 78 now, so that’s a long time! My hands just have to be busy, I just can’t sit still and do nothing! LOL
I have been doing projects in both crochet and knitting since my teens. Projects are getting done since retirement from being a full time pediatrician. Love the September colors
I learned to crochet during covid. But i have been doing other crafts throughout my entire life, i love to do crafts, it relaxes me.
My mom taught me to crochet about 40 years ago I guess. I taught myself to knit about 6 years ago. I also have done sewing, cross-stitch, and more
I have been knitting and crocheting 62 years!
Oooh! A yak blend! Hurrah! I started crafting (knitting and crocheting) 50 years ago when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. I still have the first blanket I made for her! The colors are still vibrant- yellow, green & purple, but the yarn is starting to fray. I saved it for her firstborn, but sadly, she decided not to have children. So I keep it to remember when she was a tiny one.
Hi Chandi! I’ve been crafting for around 60 years and counting. My grandmother taught me how to crochet and helped hone my sewing skills around age 13. I’m a novice knitter, so have lots to learn in that realm. I love to crochet and try to do a bit of that almost every day. I think I’m becoming a yarn junkie. Should I be worried? 😀
Hi! I learned to knit when I was young, but never progressed with my skills. When I got married, 48 years ago, my mother-in-law taught me to crochet. I moved to Allentown Pa and went to the local yarn shop where they taught me my knitting skills. Now living in Florida and there are no local yarn shops. I am bummed by that and all the more grateful for your site. Wish I could crochet some of the beautiful crochet items you post about, but they’re way above my skill level. I will be having major foot surgery and need to increase my yarn so I will have projects to keep me busy. Thank you for all you do. I’m always impressed by what you offer.
Hello Chandi, I started crocheting about 2 years ago. A friend told me about your website. Your videos have helped me learn stitches that I had never heard of before. Thank you for all you do to help those of us who are far from an expert or perfect.
I love every hank of yarn I’ve purchased 😊 it’s all so beautiful 😍 and a luxury to work with. Even though I’ve only been a crocheter for a little over 3 years, I love creating and relaxing with luxurious yarn.
I have tried to think how long I’ve been crocheting. My grandmother taught me how to knit a round dishcloth when I was young and I’m almost 67 now. Didn’t really learn how to crochet good until the internet came along and was able to teach myself from there. Have done a few CAL since and learned more. It’s a journey!
I love the yarn I’ve gotten from your website. I learned to knit more than 55 years ago and did it for probably 10-15 years, then set it aside to focus on sewing and quilting. I’ve picked up knitting again just in the past 5 years. I never have gotten the hang of the long tail cast on, so normally I knit on instead. I think I need to really learn how to do that long tail cast on now that I’m in my late 60’s. I guess it’s time. Back when I first learned to knit, I had 5 different family members despair of ever teaching me to crochet. By the time 6 inches comes along, everything is so tight I can’t get the crochet hook into it. That’s why I like knitting – 2 needles so I can’t pull too tight.
About 45+/- years. I love to craft. Started with embroidery, but began crocheting in my early 20s (30 years ago!)
This collection is gorgeous! Tim out did himself! Been trying to win your monthly giveaway for 13 years, maybe someday! Thanks for all the inspiration, great patterns and awesome yarn!
Beautiful colors!
I’ve been crocheting since I learned at 8 years old. Through several decades and many other attempts at different hobbies, crochet is always what I return to.
Happy creating!
These yarn colors are amazing 🤩 I’ve been crafting pretty much my whole life, but knitting for about 5 years and crochet for about 10.
I’ve been crafting since I was a child. I learned to knit and to crochet by my own… 40 years ago youtube didn’t exist….
I’ve been crafting most of my life, 65 years. I learned to crochet a a young girl. I did macrame, weaving, lots of sewing clothes, costumes, home decor, etc. Later I did ceramics but caregiving for my mom I had to stop. I picked up crocheting again. It was a wonderful stress relief. Still is!
Your give away is a beautifully generous gift! Thank you always for such beautiful yarns, patterns and your beautiful spirit!
My Grandmother taught me to crochet when I was between 17 & 23 somewhere, that was about 43 – 37 years ago & love it very much. I also do beading, spinning Fibers, sewing, & soapmaking, not sure how long on those. Sewing started in 7th or 8th grade in Home Economics class.
I’ve probably been crafting my entire life in one way or another. I always liked to create things. I’ve been knitting about 15 years.
Hi Chandi and the Fiber Arts Crowd. I started crocheting 50 years ago and knitting about 25 years ago. I have also for 40 or 50 years been cross stitching, doing bargello and long stitch. Weaving on a rigid heddle loom and pin looms is a more recent crafting challenge.
Hi Chandi ! Wow, I have been crafting for about 65 years, holy cats!!! My Mum started me off making letter and mail holders out of paper plates, colorful photos from magazines, crayons, bits of yarn, buttons, etc. We even made our own glue from flour and water if there was no Elmer’s or paste in the house! She ignited the creative muse in me when I was 3 years old and I have been making, sewing, knitting and needleworking ever since. The funny thing is, my Mum never did any crafting (she was a fabulous chef; that was her gift) but made sure I had the necessary spark to get me started! She was genius! Thank you for an amazingly generous and beautiful give away!
I’ve been crafting for over 30 years! Knitting is my therapy😊Thanks for another fabulous giveaway❤️
Such beautiful color ways! I have been knitting for off and on for the last 55 years, with mostly on for the last 25+ years. My grandma taught me how to knit when I was about 5.
I have been crafting for exactly 50 years! My grandma used to cut out doll shift pattens so I could sew up the sides. I learned how to knit after my sons were born, about 40 years ago. Thank you for these monthly giveaways. It is fun to see your beautiful arrangements of colors, textures, and types of yarn.
I’ve been crafting my whole life. I made doll clothes when I was too young to use a real needle, but I did use it because I knew how. I love to craft things, knit, crochet, sew, make things.
I’ve been knitting since my grandmother taught me when I was 5 – along with embroidery and needlepoint.
I’m 80 now!
I’ve been crafting since I started designing and sewing doll dresses when I was 6 (they were initially tube dresses). I’ve been knitting and crocheting since I learned in school in 9th grade.
I’ve been crafting approximately 26 years.
Never considered myself any good with artsy stuff but I started crocheting in 2017 and then two years I tried my hands on knitting. I’m enjoying both crafts and also exploring in sewing.
My grandmother taught me to.crochet when I was 13. Her mother taught me to make baskets when I was 12. There are so many crafts to dabble in: watercolor, drawing, pine needle baskets, quilting, knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning…I do a little of it all and love it!
I have been crafting for 10 years.
Hi Chandi and everyone! 😊 I’ve been crafting since elementary school, with seed beads and beading looms catching my interest and pulling me into a world of creativity! Since then yarn and all of the wonderful things that can be made with it has drawn me in deeper. Thank you for the generous giveaway!
Hi my lovely !
I am crafting since I was a child, now I am 56 .
For me is relaxing and buying yarn is the most happiest thing !
Hugs !
Hi Chandi, I learnt knitting as a child from my Mum and Nanna – but i’ve only been knitting with purpose for about ten years.
I tried learn to crochet since receiving a crochet kit when I was a child, but never had anyone to teach me properly. Having picked it up and put it down again numerous times over the years (now in my 40s) I finally learned to crochet during covid with the help of your wonderful instructional videos. I now feel like I’m at the adventurous beginner stage and am receiving so much pleasure from crafting and also being able to make handmade gifts to give to my family and friends. The first few probably looked as if a small child had made them 🙂 but last winter I made a hat for my sister which she wore regularly so I must be getting the hang of it! Thank you for all your help in sharing this wonderful gift of crafting with others.
Hi Chandi, love all rhe colors for September. I have been crocheting for about 50 years. Crocheting is my passion and I’m learning new things ⁰everyday. I’m left-handed so I had to teach myself how to crochet and read patterns? No internet and videos back then. Thank you so much for this giveaway.
I’ve been crafting șince childhood, but the last 7 years were much more intense.
I’ve been crafting șince I was 9 or 10.
I’ve been crafting șince childhood but the last 7 years were much more intense
I’m actually not much of a crafter. So I haven’t done it that much. But I’ve made a few crocheted flowers or pouches. But that’s over a span of maybe 2-3 years😅?
Does a coloring book when a small child count?
My mom and a friend taught me to knit when I was about 9 or 10. So I guess I have been crafting for well over sixty years! Knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, calligraphy, basket-making…the list goes on!
Hi Chandi! I’ve been crocheting for 30 years – knitting for less than 1!
I’ve been crafting since I was small, I think I started my first cross stitching with my grandmother when I was 6 or 7, then added plastic canvas, crochet and knitting. So going on 40 years of crafting
I have been knitting confidently since the age of about 8 and it’s been nearly half a century since then but my crochet journey didn’t properly begin until about 10 or 12 years ago.
I’ve also tried my hand at tapestry, macrame, needle felting and latch hook rug making although none of them caught my interest enough to continue past beginner level proficiency
More recently I’ve been looking into micro crochet or needle tatting and Irish crochet although I’m pretty sure my old and less nimble fingers will prevent any real success.
I keep on crafting tho, it makes my true hobby which is yarn (hoarding) collecting have some purpose lol!
I love that you embrace both knit and crochet crafts and I’m obsessed by your beautiful colour ways, I just wish I lived somewhere where shipping didn’t add so much to the price tag …
The honest answer is I don’t know how long I’ve been a crafter, as I’ve been surrounded by crafters & crafting all my life. I can say with definity that over the past 4 years I’ve become obsessed with knitting. My aunt taught me to knit as a teenager. My mom retaught me as an adult. A coworker encouraged me to pick my needles back up, which I finally did during the pandemic. And, the resources of the internet broadened my scope of yarns & projects. Thanks, Expression Fiber Arts, for the part you have & will continue to play in my knitting life.
My mom is a knitter, I can’t make two hands cooperate so I am learning to crochet, starting about 8 years ago, I think.
Earlier this month, Mom was visiting and I gifted her a pattern and a selection of Affirmation Fingering to work on while she was here. It was so satisfying to see her face when she petted that yarn for the first time! She is converted…..
I’ve been crafting for 24 years! My dad taught me to chain stitch when I was 9 and accidentally created a monster. I prefer crocheting.
I’ve been crafting a very long time. I love knitting with your silky yarns. The colors are always amazing!
I’ve been crafting for about 50 years.
I started crocheting when I was 8 – so 46 years now.
I have been crocheting regularly since 2020. I had done a few projects (but I don’t think I finished any of them), and I ended up learning a bit for a school project. During Covid is when I got invested, and I crochet almost daily now.
It all started when I was three – so literally nearly my whole life!
Hi lovely lady, i have been crocheting for three years now. Self taught during a years break from work. Love your yarn all the way over here in the UK. much inspiration from you as a person and your yarns are just sublime. Thank you for your positive and sunny character. ay your skeins continue to cover the world in love and bounce. 🙂 xx
I learned how to knit about 15 years ago, to crochet about twelve years ago. I only started crafting consistently ten or so years ago, seriously six years ago.
I have been crafting since I was a young girl.
I have been knitting since I was 10 and cross stitching about the same amount of time. Lovely choices this month!
Hi Chandi! I started knitting 11 years ago when I quit smoking, but I started quilting 18 years ago.
I have been knitting on and off for over 20 some years!
I’ve been crafting since I was a teen. I even sewed the ring bearers pillow, satin and pearls, for my own wedding.
I started exploring fiber arts 48 years ago at the urging of my grandmother.
I used to crochet almost 50 years ago but stopped for some reason. I picked it back up about 2 years ago and have been obsessed with it since. I really like making homeward, especially pillows and rugs. I have recently started making wearable. I would love to learn how to weave and dye yarn.
I’ve been crocheting a knitting for about 39 years. Although I’ve been doing this for a long time, I’m always learning something.
I have been knitting for over 20 years!
TLDR: erm, probably about 7-8 years?
Crafting specifically? I don’t know, exactly. I’ve been involved in art since I was a little bitty thing with fingerpaints and watercolours, so nearly 40 years (shame a high school teacher ruined it for me, especially since I don’t have resources now that I want to get back into it!). Crafting specifically I thiiiink I started to try to get into maybe 15 years ago? Tried to teach myself to knit and failed. Then a former coworker offered to teach me to crochet since I liked what she was making. Looking back, I failed because she said “this is the size hook I use, pick a yarn you like!” and I’m about 95% certain it was wayyyy too big for that hook. Tried to teach myself to knit and failed again. Then about… 10 years ago? I commissioned some amigurumi from a friend, then ended up actually teaching myself to make them about 7-8 years ago because I really was determined that time. Took me about 3 hours to make my first octopus, but I’d DONE IT! and had it figured out, though I messed up and taught myself on youtube videos, so patterns are really hard for me to follow. Then I found your site (thank you so much <3 You're amazing!!!) while I decided that I HAD TO finally learn to knit because there was too much pretty stuff out there to not know how to do it. And you changed my life by saying I could hold the yarn in my RIGHT hand to knit. Oh. All the other videos had insisted on it being in the left hand, and my coordination refuses to accept that. So I've been happily knitting and crocheting ever since! Though if you want any sort of crafting, I suppose I DID do a few latch hook kits and cross stitch kits (oof, need to work on my pile of cross stitching!!!) starting in high school, and have done a few of the diamond paintings as well! Oh, I do too much, haha.
I’ve been crafting for around 60 years. Coming from a crafting family made it easy to start young.
I have been crafting for 60 years. LOVE crocheting. I also knit and sew. Keeps me content, and love making things for the grandkids.
Crafting off and on since grade school. Suffice to say that was MANY decades ago. Learned to knit while a Brownie scout.
Wow, what a beautiful collection for this giveaway!!!
I’ve been knitting off an on for about 30 years, but very regularly
since covid. I had to use up some yarn! 🙂
I have been crafting forever!
I have been knitting for about 12 years. The past 3 years I have really been expanding my skill set and really enjoying working on different projects. I’m so glad I found your yarn as I find I really love it compared to what I used to get at the craft stores.
I’ve been doing some type of craft since I was around 5-6 yrs old!! Over 60 years!! Knit, crochet, embroidery, sewing, etc. I even sold crochet vests when I was in the 4th grade (I was 9!!). I remember when I was in HS, I knit this gorgeous cowl neck ribbed body sweater (I actually think the pattern was on the ball band for the yarn), the ombre yarn pooled like a sunset across the chest. Put it on, fit like a dream, then immediately ripped it off!! It was an old red heart yarn (welllllll, it was new at the time), label said “miscellaneous fibers” & listed WOOL in the fine print!! Which at the time I had a sensitivity to. I love the newer yarn fibers … much more livable now. Superwash is amazing!! But I still have to be careful.
I’ve been crafting my whole life. I enjoyed crafting as a child. I guess I have been crafting 20 years.
I’ve always been crafting. I already liked it as a child. But back then it was crafting with paper, paint, scissors, glue stick and those kind of things.
The basics of crochet I’ve learned in primary school but didn’t get hooked then. I only got hook to crochet during the pandemic 2020.
I’ve been crafting since I learned what scissors and glue sticks were. My world expansion into fiber arts started about 8 years ago.
Hello Dear Chandi! I have been crafting for more than 60 years now. My dear, sweet grandmother taught me how to crochet and embroider, that pretty much sparked my love for these crafts and I am forever grateful to her for that. I also sew and am a self-taught knitter. I consider these crafts my own personal “therapy”. When I am working with my yarn and needles the world kind of drifts away and my focus is with what I am creating. It brings me so much joy. Thank you for all the joy and pleasure you and your staff bring with the beautiful patterns and yarn that you offer.
Easily 30+ years! I learned different crafts when I was a kid, and continued as an adult. I love many hobbies and enjoy creating objects with my own hands.
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was young and I’ve been knitting since 2018.
I’ve been crocheting for 8 years now, had to teach myself because I didn’t know anyone who could teach me at the time.
I have been crafting for ~22 years. I started in 4-H (in Montana) with my mom as my knitting leader.
Beautiful yarns! I have been crafting for about 25 years. I love counted cross stitch! I am also learning knitting and crochet. Crafting is amazingly relaxing!
I have been crafting most of my life, and yarn has been my choice of medium for many years. I love, love this month’s colors! They speak my yarn language;)
I’ve been crafting doing multiple things for probably about 30 years, ranging from card making, embossing to crochet. So many things I want to do and get better at like wood burning and watercolors.
I have been crafting for over 40 years. My mom started teaching me to knit and crochet at 8 years old, took me a year or 2 to finally get the hang of it, and I’ve been crafting ever since!
Dear Chandi,
I started my crafting journey at the age of 10 and am now 65 so that is 55 years of crafting. I first learned to knit, then did some embroidery including cross stitch. I learned to crochet when i was about 45 and have been ever since. No day is complete without some knitting or crochet in it. To me it is the same as breathing.
I have been doing a variety of crafts off and on for many years. I taught myself to crochet in my early 20s; and then life got in the way. I picked it up again 8 years ago (after I retired).
I’ve been crafting since around age 5, so 57+ years.
I always loved handicraft in school, ages 10-15 we hade them once a week. In Sweden we have one semester of wood crafting and one semester of sewing, knitting, embroidery during those years in school.
But I didn’t really start crafting on my own until I left a really toxic relationship after thirteen years. I started tying friendship bands mostly to occupy my hands.
But I found it very rewarding to be able to create something, however small, and after a while I was ready to take up crocheting again after all those years.
Now I’ve been crocheting for about fifteen years and am loving it every day.
Hello Chandi and EFA team! I have been knitting for about 10 years. I was really struggling I’m the beginning and almost gave it up. Then I stumbled across one of Chandi’s how to kit for beginners. Once I found Chandi, my passion and excitement for knitting reignited and I have been hooked ever since. Thank you for everything you do ❤️
My grandma taught me how to make a slip knot and how to chain 43 years ago. The rest of crochet, I taught myself. I learned how to knit 19 years ago.
Hi Chandi! Being 77 and quickly sliding into 78, it’s hard to remember exactly when my mother first handed me a ball of yarn and some needles. Probably somewhere around 7. Thanks to her she taught me how to knit, crochet, and embroider. I’ve explored many different crafts since then. But my go to craft is knitting 🧶
Hi EFA!
I have been crafting since I was a little girl. Even as young as two I was drawing and coloring, creating pictures from the things I had seen around me and my imagination. I started with crochet in my teens and got away from it for a couple decades but now fiber arts art at the top of my craft list. I weave and am learning to sew clothes too.
Hello pretty! I’ve been crafting & creating for about four years now. My daughter took a fiber arts class in middle school, then came home and taught me how to crochet, knit, and embroider. Now, however, I only crochet—unfortunately, the embroidering didn’t hold my interest and knitting got the best of me🙄 I can actually knit just fine, but if I make a mistake IT IS IMPOSSIBLE for me to fix it!! Very frustrating, but I did learn to crochet and I love it!
I’ve been crafting since I was 15 years old, or at least that’s when I learnt to knit.
It sounds like a big number, but over 30 years! I learned to knit from my mom and crochet from my grandma when I was in high school, but took a long break from crafts to pursue college, then grad school, then raising my kids. Now that I have a married daughter, a son in college, and just one son left at home…I have re-discovered knit and crochet in the last year or so. I find it a very relaxing way to counter my work stress.
I love the colors in this month’s prize! This is my birthday month, so if I won, it would be an incredible gift!
Hi Beautiful
I’ve been knitting since I was 7. I was in a girls group and we made knitted squares.
I have been crocheting over 40 years.
My late Mother-in-law taught me. I’m an awkward lefty and she was so patient and gave me lots of encouragement.
So 54 years of soul soothing crafting.
We are so lucky to have this in our lives.
I am quite new to Crafting! Only been doing it for about 3-4 years on and off! But I am enjoying it. (And so does my cat when she decided to sit on my creations)
OMG these colors! My fave color is blue and I’m in love with that blue yarn! I’ve been crafting pretty much my whole life, from drawing and painting, macrame, crocheting, sewing…I love making things!
My grandmother started knitting with me almost 25 years ago. Scarves are still my favourite project to make, because of the memories of learning from her.
I have been knitting 17 years. I have done some type of crafting since I was a kid.
I’ve been crafty as long as I can remember! For crochet specifically, it’s been about 10 years, but I’ve always enjoyed art/craft/creative projects, and I had wonderful family members who encouraged exploring those things when I was a child and teen.
My grandmother and mother taught me how to quilt when I was a little girl. They also taught me how to embroider. I started knitting about 5 years ago. I’ve crochet about 4 years. Me and my daughter and son have done many craft projects together.
Hi Chandi, I’ve been knitting for 4 years now. I’ve actually learnt how to knit with your tutorial on continental style knitting (which also happens to be my very first knitting video)! Thats also how I found out about expression fibre arts. Thanks for being part of my knitting journey <3
In approximately 2015 I saw a YouTube video of a very beautiful girl explaining how to move the needles to create a cowl or scarf I think. So I went to Walmart bought acrylic yarn (didn’t know any better) and my 1st needles. I watched the YouTube videos more and more, bought books and just watched as her hands moved. Pause ⏸️ ⏯️ over and over. Thank you Shanti for sparking my interest in knitting and I am completely honest when I say my entire stach except maybe 5skeins are Expression Fiber Arts. I love your company’s work. One day I hope to win the monthly Giveaway and video it so everyone knows you really do have a monthly giveaway. I can’t believe no one has done a unboxing of there winning yet.
I’ve been crafting for at least 60 years. Was not optional in my mother’s house.
Yikes. 45 years? More? Does glue, glitter and a pine cone count?
I learned how to knit when I was maybe seven? But I picked it back up two years ago. I’ve dabbled in plenty of other crafts along the years. 🙂
I’ve been crafting for at least 65 years. I remember my mother teaching me to embroider cross stitches into the squares of the gingham skirt she made for my doll. My grandmother would buy craft kits at Christmas for my sisters and I to make ornaments and gave each of us sewing lessons for our tenth birthdays. Crafting of all kinds has been a way of life for me. At this point most of what I do involves yarn or paper.
I am a lifelong crafter. I’ve probably been crafting since I was 5. My mom taught me to embroider and sew, and her & I took art classes together all while I was still in elementary school! So I’d say that means I’ve been a crafter for 46 years. WOW! Having said that, I didn’t learn to knit & crochet until I was 18, and there was no Internet at that time, so I learned from books. So for knitting & crochet, it’s just been 33 years.
I’ve been crafting something or other since I was about 10 years old. I started with making jewelry and cross stitching. My mom used to make her own clothes, and I begged her to teach me, but we never did. Then, about 8 years ago I started crocheting and fell in love! I’m now learning to knit, and macramé. I still love anything arts and crafts-y, and do some cross stitch or sewing from time to time, but fiber arts is my current favorite hobby. I love seeing the look on peoples’ faces when I give them a handmade gift to cherish 🙂 So, I guess 30 years or 8 years, depending on which craft we’re discussing lol.
Hi! I have been crocheting for 60 years and knitting for 55 years. They are the hobbies that truly help keep me sane in these uncertain times. I really enjoy our community 😊
Almost 50 years of knitting, but the REAL knitting, or rather obsession for knitting, began in about 2018 when I discovered good yarn.
This is such a beautiful bouquet of yarn you’ve selected. It really captures the quote from Helen Hunt Jackson about September…summer’s best… and autumn’s…cheer. I was so happy to see her name, as she is a key figure in our history here in Colorado, and be reminded of her eye for nature. I have been crafting as long as I can remember. My sister is an artist, always trying out new media and she includes me in her adventures. 🙂 She is the painter and I’ve chosen fiber art as my favorite tool, but we still love trying out new things together.
Hello. I have been crafting on & off since I was about 4 so uhm about 50 years. All kinds of crafts. Been really interested in knitting, crocheting & amigurumi lately. I did a whole lot of research into all 3 . Yes I was chicken to try lol . I tried a beginner knitting class like a month ago and it finally clicked. An ah ha moment. Now I’m hooked on knitting at the moment. Think I tend to over think & make things more difficult than they actually are ROFL. So yep knitting my lil heart out… I totally am mastering the frogging or ripping out, face palms. 😂😁☺️. But am having fun.
I started crafting when I was a little kid (maybe 7yrs old & I’m 63 now!). I remember my grandma would give us a little bit of money and we would go to the 5 & dime store to spend it (Ben Franklin). I started out buying kits of cardboard cards with holes punched in them in shapes of animals, flowers etc., that you would thread strands of yarn through. I even have photos of my grandpa either ‘admiring’ my work – or helping me!! 😉 I was so excited when I graduated to embroidering on a stamped pot holder! I was then off & running!! 💕
I LOVE working with your yarns and appreciate your generosity with these monthly giveaways!
I learned to knit from my grandmother when I was eight and began knitting regularly in my late teens. I’ve been knitting without any significant breaks since my 25th birthday. (I don’t know why I remember that, but there it is!) I taught myself to crochet from a pamphlet in the pre-internet days. I don’t crochet a ton, but whenever I need/want to make a blanket, I tend to go to crochet. Yesterday was my 61st birthday, so I guess that means I’ve been knitting for 53 years. Yikes, that makes me sound old!
I have been crafting about 10 years.
I have been embroidering, cross stitching, crocheting and knitting and even some diamond dot painting since I was 16 years old. So 48 years. I just recently started back into knitting and have made two tanks and working on a scarf as well. I love your yarns and patterns!
I have been crafting since I was a little kid thanks to my creative mom! <3
I have been crafting since I was very little. My mom taught me to sew, do hand embroidery, crochet, macrame, a little bit of latchwork, and paint by numbers. In my earlier adult years, I fell in love with quilting and machine embroidery. I never learned how to knit until 2013 when I was diagnosed with an illness and needed something to occupy my mind. My mom was gone by then so I learned by taking Craftsy classes and watching You Tube videos that were posted by experienced knitters. Crafting has been a lifestyle for me and a lifeline when I got sick.
In my childhood I was embroidering, my grandmother taught me; now, in the last 6-8 years I am crocheting and knitting, selftaught from Youtube 😀
You have such beautiful color ways! I love th e deep blues and purples, but your fall colors are so good as well! So hard to choose!
I began machine sewing at nine, so at least fifty-two years. My grandmother also taught me crochet, knitting, quilting.
I’ve been crafting for years… I learned to crochet at age 5, to knit at age 40, to weave at age 48, and to spin at age 52. Fiber arts is my passion.
I started knitting in 2020 to deal with (1) the pandemic and (2) grief from the loss of my dad. It really calmed me and made me focus on the present. It was the lifeline that I needed.
I have been crafting for 49 years, starting with my first embroidery project completed when I was four years old. I would never have given one of my own kids a needle at that age!
I have been crocheting since my pre- or early teens.
My grandmother taught me to knit at around 8. I started knitting seriously at 20. That makes 58 years!?
A neighbor taught me some basic crochet 43 years ago, and another one, showed me how to cross-stich around the same time. Since then, I’ve been crocheting on and off and taught myself some basic knitting, embroidery and sewing….
Hi. I have been crafting since I was a child but I got into knitting when I was 14.
I have been doing some type of crafting since I was a kid. I have been knitting since 2007.
I have been crafting for about 1o years. I started with knitting for about three years and moved onto crocheting next. I am YouTube video and written tutorial taught!
Let’s see. I learned crochet first, from the babysitter when I was about 8, so some 61 years ago! OMG! I knit and crochet, and love many of the patterns you post, and make sure others know about them too.
I have been crafting for almost 60 years. I love it, I love it, I love it.
I have been crocheting ever since I saw my mother work on your patterns!
Crafting for 56 years. 😶
My grandmother taught me to knit when I was in single digits. Did not keep up with it. At some point later I learned to crochet & didn’t do much with it. Re-taught myself to knit a few times in the past 30 years. Made part of a sweater & ended up frogging it. Re-taught myself to crochet about 5 years ago and have been doing it regularly since. A great way to relax away from screens!
I have been crocheting for 18 years now. Love the colors in this give away!
I have been crafting since l remember my self. It has allways gave me comfort and pice 💜💜💜
I’ve been crafting my whole life – I used to make things out of cardboard and felt as a kid – but I’ve been knitting around 25 years now, and crocheting maybe 23 years.
Just over 4 years, picked it up as a hobby to pass time during the pandemic, and have not looked back since!
Though I learned to knit in the late 1970s, it got put to the side for many years. I picked it up again almost 20 years ago; now I’m trying to get my mojo back (which will probably happen as soon as I do the hated seaming on a tiny sweater).
I have been fiber crafting since I was 10, that’s when I learned to crochet. I really learned to knit about a year and a half ago in March. I am sure I have been crafting and getting very messy way earlier though, always getting into things and being creative, lol, never sitting still. It is why my mom taught me to crochet in the first place, she was hoping to get me to sit still for more than 5 minutes, and boy did it work, lol. Thank you for another wonderful chance Chandi!!
I’ve been crocheting for 51 years, but if we add in the embroidery my mother taught me first, I’ve been crafting 60 years.
Stunning colours! Love them!
I’ve knitted or crocheted at various times in my life.
Only crochet the last 5 years.
Hi Chandi. Beautiful colors and bases as always. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 8 and one of our neighbors taught me how to knit at 10! That was 57 years ago. But I’d say that I really got into it in my early twenties as a new mom, then about 12 years ago I’ve been steadily doing both. I love learning new techniques! Awesome giveaway!
Hi Chandi! I have been crocheting since I was around 10-12 years old, so about 26-28 years, and I taught myself to knit 5 or 6 years ago now. I had tried knitting a few times before then, but could never get the hang of it. I’m so glad that I can knit now as it opens up even more possibilities of what I can create with yarn!
I have been knitting for 10 years. I am always so excited to see the new color ways you dream up. Always so beautiful ☺️
I’ve been crafting since I was a little kid. My grandmas taught me how to embroider at a young age. I learn how to crochet 4 years ago during the pandemic and about a year ago I learned how to knit.
I have been crafting for 15 years. Started when I was in High School.
My Mum taught me to knit when I was a kid around 1979. She’d cast on and do all the shaping and I would just knit knit knit! Then my knitting laid dormant for many years until about 8 years ago when I saw a friend knitting and I decided to pick it back up and am now learning to do all the shaping and pattern work for myself, challenging myself with something new to learn with each project. This is a stunning collection- someone is going to be thrilled to receive this! 🍂 🧶🍁
I’ve been knitting a lot in my teens, then life kept me busy with different things. Now it’s about ten years I picked up my knitting needles again.
Crafting for most of my life, knitting for 22 years.
On and off since first grade, which is now 36 years ago
I’ve been knitting and crocheting almost 50 years! I taught myself both crafts when I was 15 years old.
Crocheting for about 40 years. Next I want to learn to knit.
The colors are beautiful.
Your colorways are always SO stunning! I’ve been crafting for almost my whole life, but just recently picked up yarn crafts again a year and a half ago.
I have been crafting since I was a child. I first learned to knit from both my mother and my next door neighbour when I was about 6 or 7, and my mother showed me the basics of crochet a few years later. Have not stopped since.
I started knitting during the very first UK Lockdown and I haven’t looked back since. I find that knitting is an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I always find time for myself ❤️
Hi Chandi,
I’ve been crafting one way or another for at least the past 40 years. My mom tried to teach me to knit which didn’t take, but loved cross stitch and taught myself to crochet after college. I’ve taken a knitting class and always plan to get serious about knitting, but when I sit down with my yarn I always fall back on my crochet projects.
I have been crocheting since i was 10, taught myself knitting at 11, so about 23 years 🤣
I’ve been crafting forever, maybe 43 of the 50 years I’ve been on this planet. 😆❤️🧶🧵🪡✂️📍❤️
It’s been about 60 years since I started fashioning clothes for my dolls.
It’s been about 60 years since I started fashioning clothes for my dolls.
I started crocheting when I was 12 so 33 years now. Taught myself to knit of YouTube videos, including yours, 6 years ago now. Thank you for the videos btw!!!! One day I’ll get alpaca to enjoy my 27 acre home which is my place of peace and learn to spin fiber from my own beautiful alpaca. But in the mean time I love working with your lovely yarn.
Hi Chandi,
Been knitting for about 20 yrs, but crafting- I feel like I’ve been crafting ally life! First making those pot holders with the little loops of fabric, then decorating notebooks with stickers, and as I got older, I started sewing and got into quilting. Then papercrafting (I wrote a story and made it into a book for my 7th grade English class- that took for ever, because, back in the day, my family didn’t have a typewriter, so I had to write it in my me best handwriting- I have horrible penmanship.)
And now I am getting back to sewing, and of course, I am knitting.
The colors for this months giveaway is beautiful and seems to move us from summer to fall. I hope you and the entire EFA team have a wonderful day.
Such beautiful yarn in this month’s giveaway!! I’ve been paper crafting for about 20 yrs but I’ve only started crocheting 6 yrs ago.
I was 13 years old when we started to learn same basic knitting techniques in the school. Then I ve actively knitted during my university studies and 20 years later I ve started to crochet. So it s a lot of years, long, a very long period…
10 years for me… started with sewing but have become addicted to all things yarn. 😀
I have been crafting for 63 years! I love all things having to do with yarn. I especially love your Resilient and Luster Sport yarn. So squishy and lovely. Hope this month’s give away finds its way to my house. 🤭🥰
Hi, you wanted to know how long I’ve crafted? I’m going to say around 61 or 62 years as I’ll be 67 very soon. I started with coloring on the wall behind my bed. Granny taught me embroidery and to crochet at around 10. It goes on from there, drawing, painting, sewing, knitting and so on.
Thank you again for a chance to win your beautiful yarns.
Debbie
Hi Chandi, I love your yarns and the beautiful colors and also the pictures and illustrations! I found your website and youtube-videos while I was looking for some inspirations for knitting. Your instrucions are very interesting. I like your motivating words and it seems that you always have sunshine in your heart and on your shoulders.
I live in Austria (Europe) and learned knitting and chrocheting at school and always liked to do some crafting. That are more than 40 years now…..
It would be a great pleasure to win your yarn and work with it!
Hi! I have been crocheting consistently crocheting for over 2 years now. I picked it back up after not crocheting for years. When I was eight years old my grandmother taught how to crochet, so it’s always been something that I enjoy doing!
Around 20 years!
I comment on all your projects and yarn colors… Not only these draws…. What you do is amazing and hard work… You inspire me and I thank you for that… Hope all is well with you and your family
