Hello, my darling dewdrop! This week, I have a fun pattern to share with you. It’s a delightful, crochet cape that can also be worn as a wrap skirt, and I’m tickled to bits to tell you all about it!

Valdeon was designed by Janica York Carter. When describing this pattern, Janica said, “Simple single crochet stitches worked in short rows create long wedges separated by bands of mosaic stitches. This subtle shaping, combined with cotton-and-silk yarn, drapes beautifully around your shoulders as a cape, or around your hips as a wrap skirt. Customize the size by changing the number of wedges.”

This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is perfect for crocheters who know basic stitches and are ready to learn basic shaping. Techniques include short rows, spike stitches, and an optional foundation single crochet beginning.

Our soft and silky Moongleam Fingering yarn is perfect for this pattern! Moongleam Fingering is a delectable blend of 50% cotton and 50% mulberry silk. Just heavenly! Moongleam Fingering is a 2-ply, fingering weight yarn that is glowing and buttery and perfect for a variety of projects. Shawls and scarves are fantastic, as are sweaters, blankets, home items, and more! Breathable and light and amazing for warmer climates with 437 yds/400 m per skein.

Our sample was crocheted with the Silhouette Hues Moongleam Fingering Kit (1748 yds/1600 m per four-skein kit). Colors were worked from darkest to lightest. The sample shown used approximately 1,486 yds / 1,358 m total: Color A: 372 yds / 340 m, Color B: 382 yds / 349 m, Color C: 382 yds / 349 m, and Color D: 350 yds / 320 m.

We made a video tutorial for you! Follow along, as I show you how to crochet the wedge and mosaic sections.
